It's about the Nation RP section, mainly, what's the simple things that go on in them? I would like to know the subset things people follow within an Nation RP in terms of what features they use in them that are different from all other sections of the Guild, in terms of the Role-playing sections that is. I hope you can help me in this area since I need to 'figure' things out since it's been awhile, quite rusty at this thing mainly the RPing aspect since I've been taking a back seat and writing profiles more than most things so it's time for I, to get back into RPing as a whole.

Since Nation RPs have interested me for awhile since they are more up to my strategic mind most of the time. Though it would be nice to get some hints to do these things a little bit easier than most things, I hope you can help me. I think I've only done one of those such role plays but its been along time.

The help will be grateful since I need to retire from my Lurker position, I'm kinda going stir crazy. >.>

Just to be sure, you want someone to explain the basics of Nation RPing to you?

Mainly the basics of the features required to be called an Nation RP, that is mainly since I am kinda confused on these though all the role plays in the Nation RP section are quite neat.

Basically, a nation RP is a roleplay where you're controlling an entire nation/organization rather than a single character (hence the name), although this may be embodied in the ruler of said nation/organization as your "main" character. I think the easiest way to put it is... Hmmm... Basically, if other RPs are like D&D, NRPs are more like Civilization, I guess? If that makes sense.

As to how this is pulled off, it depends on the GM, really. Some like to make big expansive gaming systems with lots of number crunching and point builds and stuff like that to enforce a semblence of fairness to the whole thing, whilst other prefer a more narrative and less mechanical approach. Both have their merits, really, so it just really depends on the GM and players which one they go with. Hope that helps.

So in an essence its like a massive Real Time Strategy/Turn Based Strategy Game, in a Forum RP setting instead of playing an actual video game in terms of Civilization 5 or Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. I love the Real Time Strategy aspect of video games mostly. Though the best game for number crunching I've seen is the spreadsheet MMO itself, Eve Online even though I stopped playing that game because it felt too much like work.

Rin, your signature is cute. lol /off topic

This is slightly neat I guess to get a better explanation than what it is on the description under the Nation RP forum, that is. Could you give me an example of number crunching and one with more 'narrative' based stuff? In terms of the systems, and if you could give me a link to these Roleplays since I like to research a lot before I truly figure somethings out even though I have the base location figured out, at least. Because I think ahead, and how I feel its like an 'massive' RTS in my head anyway, the Jaina'Res Multiverse is intense in this degree.

I haven't been in the Nation RP section much. I've done Nation RPs in which everyone controls a Nation and tries to fulfill their goals. Things like Canada wants Nuclear Super Soldiers, or America wants more Gold. For example. The ones I was in was in the Fallout setting, in which cities became Nations. And there was no rule sheets or numbers to crunch. Other than Population, Military Strength and Trade goods.

Rin actually nailed it on the nose.

We're going to be rewriting section descriptions (Gat brought up, once, how bad the Advanced sounded and I want to overhaul all of it) and I might have to think on some of what was just said there for that purpose.

That will be nice than since it's hard to figure out things without a good description.
