Victor Fortunato has an idea.
Which would be good, under ordinary circumstances. He may be young, but he's smart and ambitious. That's why the Trevisani Family keeps him around, that's how Vic went from a street punk to one of the top wiseguys in Providence, Rhode Island.
But Vic isn't content. He thinks the Mafia is a dinosaur, he thinks there's better ways for organized crime to make money. Specifically, the Trevisani's archaic "no drugs" policy. That policy is why Vic is keeping his little idea to himself. No one needs to know about his side project, and by the same token no one needs to share in the profits.
It's easy. Vic never even needs to leave Providence for it to work, just to have his banker move some funds around. Just pay the Juarez Cartel for a staggering one ton of cocaine. Bring it over the border at El Paso, Texas. While this is being taken care of, Vic plans to use the Tervisani Family's influence on the northwestern city of Tacoma, Washington to put the area's largest cocaine distributor behind bars. The reason? All the better to sell his newly bought cocaine at a marked-up price. All in all, it should net Vic about $100 million. Provided the police or the Trevisani Family don't find out. And no one else tries to get involved.
But hey, what could go wrong?
Alright, so the basic premise of this RP is that a massive drug shipment is coming into the United States. What makes this different from other RPs is that the story will play out over three- or possibly four, depending on interest- different threads, one for each city this plot concerns. All will play out concurrently, hopefully with different sets of characters. They are all integral parts of the same story, however- the actions of characters in one will affect what goes on in the other, and PCs will have a high degree of agency. Players are free to play in more than one thread at a time.
This is an ambitious idea, I know. Therefore I'm only going to do this if I see a high amount of interest and I feel people will be committed to the RP and making it last- that goes for each storyline.
Speaking of which, the different threads would be:
1. Providence, Rhode Island : This is where Vic (the driving actor behind the plot) and his old-school Mafia family would be located.
2. El Paso, Texas : Here, the cocaine shipment is intended to come across the border, then be transferred over to corrupt teamsters to be shipped north.
3. Tacoma, Washington : Here, a local drug lord is going to be set up for arrest, leaving a vacuum in which to sell the cocaine at a marked-up price.
4. (in case of extremely high interest) Omaha, Nebraska : A corrupt executive for a international banking concern launders and moves Vic's money.
You would be free to play criminals, law enforcement types, or even just an Average Joe who somehow gets caught up in the middle of things. There's a lot of potential here, I feel.
Any questions?
