So this is a fantastical story between me and Fauxbot.

The general story goes that two people on the edge of graduating college meet in a modestly sized town by the ocean. One works at a coffee shop and goes to the local university. The other just rolled into town and is a wandering poet working for a small magazine. They both stumble across an interesting book at a small unsuspecting bookstore. They look through it and find that it has ancient information about some sort of mystical portal that can take them to another land where magic exists. They book guides them to a simple classroom inside the local university and thus begins their adventure together.

Unbeknownst to them, there is a secret society of people who go around looking for these portals. Since only one can be open at a time and expires after a random date or amount of usage, they are racing against time to find next newly opened portal.

Okay so I was gonna make some banners but got lazy but hey maybe when we cook up our CS then I can get something done. So this is our modest lil OOC here. Did you figure out a picture you wanted to use? I may keep my CS short and simple since we know the general stuff and anything else will be uncovered when we get moving. Did we want to talk more about the other world and maybe the town we're beginning in?

It'd be helpful if you posted your CS first. Since this is only my first RP on this site, It would be helpful to see how a more seasoned person constructs their CS. But I do think that I discovered the picture I want to use.

I kept it pretty short and simple, I didn't feel the need to deal with a history or any quirks or personality examinations. I feel it tends to waste time when it can be outlined in the IC itself ya know?

We can start tonight, I just mentioned that I wasn't sure if you wanted to flesh out the worlds or not.

Oh, yeah, youre right, we should probably do that a bit more before we start. I dont really think we need to flesh out the real world, necessarily. Thats something we can create as we go. But I do believe that we should have an idea for the other worlds that we enter. How do you feel about the abstract? Worlds that are incredibly disjointed and strange and weird?

Are you thinking maybe like castles in the sky? Or small islands above the ground? That sort of thing?

Yeah, and perhaps the more we go through these portals, the stranger and more disjointed they get? Until eventually we're just going through platforms and shapes and stuff?

So maybe the portals are slowly unraveling the fantasy world? So I assume anyone front the other side or who uses them would be obviously labeled as an enemy?

Right, I think so. And they get more and more violent as the worlds unravel more and more.

So in the other world are you imagining magic and dragons? Or something else if we're messing more with laws of physics? I assume of course that there could be some quest in the other world to help seal up the portals?

Not necessarily dragons. More along the lines of strange, disfigured creatures and monsters. Sort of like things you would see in nightmares. And yes, there would need to be a way to seal up the portals for good.

If it's more supernatural and less fantasy, I may be a bit on the fence since a lot of supernatural events tend to be handled poorly.... *winces*

Not supernatural, still very much a fantasy! I just would rather not go down such a stereotypical path that is one with dragons and evil sorcerers. I would like the creatures to have some sort of features about them that stand out when compared to others.
