Okay, I hope you don't mind my butting in, but seemingly, people can only have one skill for their weapon, here's a convenient link where you can check those skills. Like with my character, he can use daggers, but he wouldn't be able to use a sword with the same mastery as he uses his dagger. Also, for Beast Taming, while not exactly random, one can farm it as they see fit and the skills needed to farm it if you want that 'Job', to call it something would be Familiar Communication and Familiar Recovery. What is indeed random is when you tame a monster. Silica tamed Pina by pure luck and acquired her nickname of Dragon Tamer the same, with pure luck.

Indeed. However, Familiar Communication & Familiar Recovery are only applicable and usable after one tames a Familiar, the actual skill to tame one is based on luck. This works both for and against a tamer. They can farm a single mob to raise the skill in the hopes of taming one of those, or that person can just raise it as normal as they do everything else and randomly tame one along the way.

This results in people sometimes getting one they want, and sometimes they don't.

I'm going to make this easier and just say that Princess Melody should have all three skills: Beast tamer, familiar communication and familiar revival. You don't need to get rid of any of your other skills either, as having a couple extra in this case isn't going to give you that big an advantage (especially as they all work for a single purpose). However I would say that you should tweak your special skill to something along the lines of:

She can call nearby creatures beasts for temporary assistance. Success depends on skill level. (This way the creatures will eventually become a hindrance themselves and therefore balances it out a bit)

Bows are unique skill in the Hollow Fragment game, so they could be allowed as unique skill (it's possible that its Extra Skill) by Anime and Manga standards. Of course it's not official canon, but this RP is not set in SAO canon anyway.

Unless the majority of players argue otherwise I think I'm going to keep the use of bows and crossbows out. There's knife throwing for those that really want to be ranged.

Howdy, I've been looking to get a second RP to keep my fingers busy and my mind loose, so when I happened upon a yet-to-start SAO Rp I was ecstatic. I love SAO, have watched the first part of the Anime(meaning SAO, but not SAO II) as well as I have done canon/lore research for the universe in RPS I hosted in the SAO theme before.

Personality: Austin is a relatively good man, calm, quiet, logical, but he does have his "primal side." All throughout his years he has suffered with an inherited anger issue and has always reigned it in, tamed it, and kept it on an ice-block. However he also found a way to release it.

Brief Real Life Background: Austin was a man of simple work, paying his bills, hoping to meet the right lass, while taking care of what he owned. He worked, relaxed, and did the things all men did. He would go out with the guys and do things around town, or try to meet a nice lady. His biggest hobbies were two though that seemed polar opposites. He enjoyed video-games when he had some time to play, most commonly MMOs and the like of RPGs, but he also reveled in Hunting. Hunting was probably the larger of the two hobbies, as he grew up in West Virginia, USA. It was one of his most done hobbies outside of the MMO Dungeons & Dragons Online, until the moment he heard about Sword Art Online. Upon the notice he saved his money, got the Nerve Gear, and was unfortunately left to the ruin of having to get a pirated version, this being due to the lack of available versions in his area after they were all sold-out.

This ring allows the wearer to transform into a Werewolf once-per-rest. Once-per-rest means that upon leaving a safe zone he will have one use and to recharge it he must re-enter the safe zone for a period of time. This ring was originally intended to give players a feeling of what it is like to be a beast. The nerve gear would flood one's senses with that of what it would be for an animal, but Kayaba removed it. However the dark underground of pirating holds it's own genius which in turn found remnants of the Item's code in the game and restored it in the pirated version, of which Austin now holds the only version.

Brief Real Life Background: After their parents died, Ashton was very protective of his brother. He did almost everything with his Brother, from School, to even going into the Medical Profession. He trained as an EMT and got a job at the same hospital his brother was in. A Devout Catholic, He has never missed a Church Service. He wasn't much of a gamer, and left his brother to do most of the video game stuff. When SAO came out, he was convinced by his brother to give it a try, and so he pirated the game, and asked his brother to assist him in it. to which Riley obliged. In the game, He kept up his religious ways, and is now a High Ranking member in the Catholic Side of the Order of the Divine.

I'm still on the fence on whether she would kill them or not; I suppose if she did, the moral ambiguity of her character might be interesting!

The guild idea was about four others who did similar things, possibly even following their own form of Bushido or Chivalry?

That is perfectly alright, but you might want to check the guilds tab in the OOC because your character may want to join 'The Grey'. It's actually possible to have your own guild and be part of The Grey.

They sound a bit too like the police to fit in with her. I guess I quite like the idea of her killing player-killers, it would make for some interesting interactions with others, considering the fact that most people can see what you've done. Maybe she could be infamous for it? Honestly, I can work her another way if you're not a fan of that idea!

I'm fine with it either way too! Just bare in mind that hurting other players (even orange players) will result in you becoming orange or red. If you are not part of The Grey you may end up in their sights because they may mistake you for just another player killer. It'd make for a great story actually :)

Hopefully she might gain some infamy to counter that but it does sound like a pretty good storyline! I guess I'll see where it goes! And anyways, if she was working on the Front Lines, I think a few of the Grey might realise when she gets unmasked! I'll get to work on a CS now, thanks for the help! :)

Actually I think I might have been wrong, I think attacking an orange player might not affect your own cursor colour. We could change this for the sake of the RP though. What does everyone think?

Seemingly, not, I do remember Rosalia saying that if Kirito were to attack her, a green player, he would become orange. Also, in Hollow Fragment, you attack the leader of Laughing Coffin and nothing happens to your cursor. I hope I'm not reading too much into it, though. :P Anyhow, I'm not against changing it.

Didn't Asuna and Kirito attack Kuradeel after he turned Orange? I don't remember what happened to their cursors, but I highly doubt they turned Orange.

There was something directly mentioned about the Orange and Red not having an effect on your cursor I believe.

Will we be able to fight Nicholas the Renegade? He's the one enemy I'm looking forward to fighting.

Perhaps we could say that killing anyone, regardless of cursor colour, turns you orange? Put it down to the Second Server being slightly different. It would add another layer to plots around criminals and the like, which I plan to capitalise on later.
