the local Mercenaries CS Name- 'The Exiled King' Redswift Race- Appearance- Backstory- Born into royalty, Redswift was the first son of the elven queen in the hidden forest of Dumir. His family life was shattered when Human Brigands invaded the forest and a vicious human beserker raped his mother. The elven queen then gave birth to a half elf bastard child, Halen who the entire community instantly reject because of his birth. Redswift cared about his little brother but the politics of the forest prevented him from speaking out. Saldy when Halen became of age he left the forest in fustration of not belonging. He then became a notrious hunter and had many great adventures. After the eventual death of his mother the new King Redswift became very bored with life as a royal and longed for adventure and to see his brother again. The forest was not happy with his desire to join his half elf brother and the forest elders exiled him. The rule of the forest being taken over by a corrupt councilman. Now Redswift longs to grow stronger, learn more about the world and find his brother, hoping to take back the forest he once called home. Skills- Redswift is trained as an elven knight during his time as a prince, he is proficient with elven longsword and bow, but is especially deadly with the spear and shield combo. He also enjoys all the physical advantages of being and elf, with amazing catlike agility and reflexes. He is also a master strategist having led armies and campaigns. He is a trained shipwright and naval expert and also has a background in animal taming and is able to train and ride wyvrens and drakes. Magic/magical abilities- Redswift has a disdain for magic seeing it as weak and 'femenine' and prefers to fight head on with physical weapons or cunning strategy, but he has a level of skill in elven healing magic which he tries to only use when most nessecary, because of that his skills are somewhat underdeveloped. Equipment- Royal Elven Alloy Armour, Elven Knight Spear, Royal Dumir Shield. Elven short sword,15 Throwing knives, strong elven rope. various elven herbs Other: Redswift's time as King had a negative effect on his personality, while inheritly a good person, he can short tempered and rude to those around him with his ingrained royal arrogance, this makes his ability to work in a team rather strained. AND I will wear the black band Name- Auda the Crimson Menace Race- Demon Male Appearance- His entirety is covered in coarse, crimson, dog-like fur except for his legs. He has the legs of a Komodo Dragon and the horns of a mountain goat. His face is long he has orange glowing eyes. He is about 3'7". He only wears tan pants and refuses to wear anything else. Backstory- Auda is considered an annoyance at most in his hometown of Phorne Keep. He decided he was bored, so he caused some trouble in a local bar. In attempting to do this, he was sealed in a crate and sent far away... (GM you choose where he goes!) Skills- Stabbing, annoying, distracting, destroying crap, showtunes, climbing, not kazoo, dodging. Magic/magical abilities- Can use magic items decently enough. Equipment- Crimson Pitchfork, kazoo, extra pants. Other: I will wear the band, can't speak for the runt. Also, how do demons feed on food from their own realm? Do they open a portal or something? CS Name- Captain Dothren Roketh Race-Human Male/Female- M Appearance- Backstory- Dothren Roketh was born in Loydye Tower before it was claimed by the Undead. Loydye Tower and the surrounding towers were made to defend the southwestern lands from the hoard of undead that roamed in the wastelands of Ninabi. From the time he could walk he was trained to be a knight of the Loydye Wall. They were an elite force made only to fight off the armies of Necromancers. His mother and father, who were both knights, died trying to defend the Astral Port along side the Dwarves. He was still a child at the time so he was taken in by his Godfather, Getheion, who had fought along side his parents. By the age of 16 Dothren has become one of the most skilled of all the recruits. Though he had received a head start, seeing how he was raised on the wall. Nonetheless, few of the recuits could be him in melee combat. Passing the three secretive tests that all most pass to become a wall knight, Dothren became one of the youngest to be knighted ever. Soon after being knighted he received his first orders. He, and a few other knights, were to join the party of an Elven king and a Dwarven Prince on their way to The Astral Port. He met the odd mixed group of Elfs and Dwarfs at the western tower wall. The plan was to cut across the middle of Ninabi straight to Hoondon. The two peoples seemed to argue about everything, but it was all meaningless noise to the young Dothren. About halfway through southern Ninabi a scout spotted a huge group of undead heading south. Dothren argued with the older knights, but ended up continuing with the group while they head to warn the wall. The two royals tried to sympathize with him, saying that they've been put through the same treatment before they got real action. They each told their old war stories, and Dothren told them the story of his parents. Apparently the elf had heard of the courageous couple, and the dwarf had fought beside them. Dothren enjoyed the distraction as he rode alongside his two new friends. By the fall of the third day the group could see the outline of Hoondon, witch he had learned was a neutral ground between the dwarves and elfs. As they all set down for camp everything felt off, more off then usual that is. Dothren gave his concern, and most of the group took him seriously. The rest just said he was a child being foolish. Midnight had come, and most were asleep besides those put on guard. Dothren had set next to a low fire talking with some of the elfs when a sudden fog had rolled in. A guard let out a shout of alarm that was cut short. Dothren yelled for the others to awake as an ambush took place. An alarming number of undead ran out of the fog, killing half the guard before the group could recover from the shock. The surviving warriors formed in a defensive circle. A few waves came at the group until their leader appeared. The fog lifted as a tall half dead looking man walked towards the group. Dothren identified him as the necromancer. In his words, cut off the head and the body shall die!" With that battlecry he and the two royals charged the necromancer. Slicing their way to the tall man a sentence escaped from its mouth that almost stopped him," you fools...Loydye Tower has fallen. The southern lands are mine." The raspy voice rang clear in this battle. The three of them reached the man and began assaulting him. The elf and Dothren became a flurry of strikes against the man, while the dwarf struck at any opening there was. After a long period Dothren's blade cut off the necromancer's head. The surrounding undead fell limply to the ground as their master's head flew off. The group picked up camp and buried the dead, but as they tried to set out again, a woman's scream could be heard heading towards them. They raised their weapons as Cusala the Enchantress appeared before them. Apparently that was her husband that they had just killed. The group was to tired to fight off another necromancer, and was captured easily. She transported them to her fortress. Were they spent a year being tortured and experimented on. By the end of that year all that was left of the group was three dwarves, two elfs, both royals, and Dothren. One night a living guard made a mistake, and the dwarf overpowered him. The small party grabbed what equipment they could, and escaped on a fishing boat that was heading to a small town in Ghostwood. From there they headed north to the Temple of Elemental Evil. The monks their where known enemies of Cusala, and gave them refuge. At the temple Dothren had picked up on the basic use of elemental spells, while the royals tried to get in contact with their homelands. About two weeks later they had begun making plans to head back home. They decided to take a northern route, and head to Buramma. The night before the party departs they awake in the highest part of the temple. The monks wanted Dothren to sacrifice his friends, and join them. He tried to think of a strategy to get him out of this mess as he walked towards the dwarvern prince. He figured he'd improvise. Reaching down he cut the ropes binding the dwarf and picked him up a through him at the only three monks in the room. Moving fast he freed the others, and they finished off the three monks. Grabbing what they can, again, they escaped from the temple, and ran to the Withered lands. From their they went to the dwarvern Citadel of Buramma. When they arrived there was a great wild celebration. The current king gave Dothren a Dwarven stone, which made him a honorary dwarf. The party spent a week of rest their. The elfs surprisingly enjoyed themselves, but eventually had to leave. The elven king insisted I came with him to his kingdom to receive his reward. Dothren said he didn't have to, but the elf simply said, " I can't have those damn bearded midgets outdo me." They left out a pass that exited in the outskirts of the Rhuddle Vale. The elf king took him to meet the elven elders at Wybrook, where another celebration took place. The elfs weren't as wild as the dwarves, but Dothren still had fun. At the end of the celebration the elders had a silver leaf made for him. The leaf increased his life, and made him an honorary elf. He got to travel to the elven capital, before leaving for his home. Before he left he was told to by the elders to be at the Astral Port in about a month. Dothren headed directly south through the Ninabi wasteland. He hardly saw any undead, and those he did see looked confused. Like they don't understand what is going on. He reach his home within a week, but he was not greeted with a friendly sight. Loydye Tower barely stood, holes littered the walls, and the dead, living or not, were all over the place. He stayed their a few days then rode east to Gissfell to see if the town had been attacked. Luckily the dead did not reach them. He found the towns mayor, and told him to send a letter to Avalad telling them what had happened. He waited a day then headed for the Astral Port. Passing the ruins of Loydye for a second time made him realize he was the last of the wall knights. He stopped at the wall, and payed his respects to the dead. Then began heading on his path again. When he reached the Astral Port he was praised by both parties. They had agreed to work together to forge him armor. Luckily Hoondon has a forge were it's possible to do so. As sturdy as a dwarf, as light as an elf, always said Dothren ends up spending 25 years learning under the greatest dwarvern, and elven warriors. He also fought in a few of their wars while they were allies. After these events had taken place, a tall green figure approached Dothren in the city of Seawick. It was an orc with a wild red Mohawk, and a black iron band around his arm. He had a job offer. He started off by saying, " you know you are hard to find." A month later Dothren is a lieutenant of the western branch of the Black Band. 20 years later he finds himself sharing a fire with a stranger he just saved. Skills- Master swordsmen, has had a well balanced training in the use of most weapons. Though he has had fought in many battles across the lands. He has hardly seen any war on the seas. (If needed)Magic/magical abilities- can preform some basic spells in elemental magic Equipment- His armor and weapons are one of the results of a mix of Dwarven and Elven craftmenship. (If needed)Extra items- Dwarven stone, home scroll, and an elven silver leaf. Other: ha, I already have black armor. Eleni 'The Black Spear' Voshrem Human(Amazon) Female Appearance Eleni is very unlike the rest of Amazon human sub race, carrying ash black hair that is said only one in ten thousand of her people carry that is supposedly a blessing and a curse. And a height on the equivalent to a normal mainland woman, this though only feeds to her legend. Though despite the coming of being a shorter Amazonian woman she still carries the strengths of her race and culture well. Her strength is deceptive as it only shows in her combative skills. Her eyes are ocean blue, in a dead stare almost give an eerily glow. Below her eyes is the mark of her station before banishment, tattoo's symbolizing her rank as a queens guard to the Empress. Also not physically endowed as the most, but figures the lack of her 'size' gives her more ample opportunity in combat. Backstory Eleni wasn't even born on the main contents of Avalad and other such cities, born and raised into a culture that few ever see and even fewer know how to get there. Raised among the elite of society, her status was that of the inner circle of royalty. Working closely in unison with the Empress for the betterment of Island kingdom. Her father was estranged acting a merchant to the main lands never really much in her life, but a strong mother figure who was one of five sworn Black Spears to protect the empress at all time. A position in life that rarely came to any such woman. Considering in lore and legend that the black haired maidens though rare possess abilities far beyond that of her normal kin, so only such women were allotted that position. In her youth she'd been trained since she could walk, from the bow, to the spear and as a shipwright who could traverse the most wicked of storms. For when she grew and on her twentieth birthday she'd surpass her mother and one of the Black Spears. Growing up with the next Empress`in line the throne, becoming die hard friends. At the age of eighteen the both competed in the warriors tourney, to show case skill and strength. The duo left last and couldn't best each other so, how were they supposed to settle the despiute? Easy an arm wrestling match, Eleni was the stronger but conceded to the fact her friend would be the Empress one day and let her win to show case her strength to the people. Years latter after being anointed as a Black Spear, her skills had improved as a whole new level of training was brought to light as a Black Spear. More rigorous but one needed to protect the Empress, in its wake leaving a woman vastly superior than the previous shell. Life seemed to go exceedingly well in her station, but had constantly trained to better herself. She wanted to become a legend a living legend though one that lived so all could bask in her brilliance. One night during her supper Eleni was arrested under the suspicion of Queen Slaying. A false accusation and everyone knew it. Brought before her best friend and new empress, is was clear that the empress's husband was calling the shot threw the empress's voice. Eleni didn't speak for the longest of times until she was about to be taken away. Invoking banishment by truth. Banishing herself at the cost of the truth and when it was revealed, her banishment was permanent until the late empress's death was solved. Bringing in the Judicators to find the truth, willingly leaving under guarded escort. Taking only her spear and bow and set sailed to the worlds beyond. As luck would have she traveled on her fathers boat, sparing a few coins for her new start and told her the a mercenary group was hiring recruits. She'd swallow the pride she had gained in life due to a position only dreamer by others. Departing from the docks to where the recruits were meeting. Skills A deadly efficient two hand spear wielder with only flashing glimpses of the leaf of the blade, saying to be as swift as light. Deadly and supremely accurate shot with the small composite bow. Good at shooting length but in close quarters and in repetition is where her skill with the bow shines most bright. Having yet to test it with the elves of the world. Because of drilled training over constant years, has developed a strength and hand eye coordination that is said to be almost inhuman for smaller physique. Has become an accomplished alchemist growing better by the week. Magic/magical abilities Not an accomplished magic user but can invoke her arrows and spear with elements. Sometimes with an explosive charge. Though she can enhance both her speed, strength and hand eye coordination for pre ordained intervals of time. Enough to give her an upper hand in the fight. And can split her arrows into three smaller variations. Equipment Black double ended spear, made of a rare substance that gives it an exceedingly light weight. Strong and durable, a symbol of her status before banishment. A white wood composite bow, designed for closer combat bow use, backing the punch of what crossbow would deliver. Light Black steel armor, that allows both protection and maneuverability. Extra items Carries three vials of a half red, half blue solution called tears of the gods. A substance that can invoke a near bloodlust like phase. Other I will wear the band. But I do not like orders by men. Name- Idron Boje Race- Human Male/Female- male Appearance- look a narrow face, with square jaw, clean shaven, with short cut brown hair and eye’s. Backstory- Boje was born into a family of mercs from a young age he learn the family trade. When he was older he join the Avalad army he eventually quit because as he said “the pay was bad.” Boje soon join up with a Black Band. He spent years with them guild training Skills- - Mastery of his favorite weapon a longsword and Proficient in light and medium armor he can easily move around knows unarmed combat Proficient in thrown weapons i.e. throwing knives has good cardio (If needed)Magic/magical abilities- none Equipment- half plate armor, a dagger, a high quality long-sword, throwing knifes, and some tools to keep his armor and weapons in tiptop shape. (If needed)Extra items- backpack, water-skin, and several books. Other: none Name- Tudolf Rumgear Race- Dwarf Male/Female-Male Appearance- He is five foot one which is quite tall for a dwarf and has dirty blonde hair with streaks of grey that is very much charred at its ends. He has a magnificent beard that is largely unkept and messy also with charred endings. His skin is a fair bit more tanned then the average dwarf and has dull blue eyes in the middle of his mundane face. As for his armour, he has two different gauntlets, one of his design but another dwarf' handy work while the other appears to be a fairly old elven design from quite a few generations past. His main chest plate is riddled with obvious weld marks that show how the Orcish and human armour were tediously welded together to form something that looked like you'd see ignored or Mr.Hyde wearing with it cut straight down the middle and such. As for boots, they are both human in make but many broken down bits have been fixed up with Dwarven bits and pieces. Underneath it all he wears a purple, tattered, torn and scorched necromancer's robe that somehow managed to survive the beating it's precious owner took. His armour doesn't have a helmet per say but does have armouring in the lining of the hood to block bladed hits but things with more blunt force can still get through. Backstory- Once a drunk nobody Tudolf became a drunk somebody when he discovered his passion of the arcane arts and experimentation with black powder. Before becoming the force to be trifled with that he is today Tudolf Rumgear was raised with an average, Dwarven upbringing amount his people. Tudolf wasn't much of a skilled arms man and while he possessed quite a bit of knowledge in fist fighting and other more scholarly subjects he never had enough drive to be able to make a living out of it. Of course since the dwarfs knowledge was of no use to himself he had to 'settle' for working the mines which in itself wasn't a bad thing but was just boring in general for him. Tudolf continued with his minding and usually spent the rest of his free time trying to drink away his problems at the local pub in his underground home. One day while drinking his sorrows away a great tremor erupted throughout the city, it's origin was a local and not extremely experience necromancer that had amassed a huge army of undead dwarves and other beings to do his bidding. Though the local guardians of the town tried to keep the creatures at bay they eventually began to fall. This all took place a hour or so after the initial shudder while Tudolf was still inside the bar drinking what could be his last mug of ale, completely oblivious to the dangers that were unfolding. Finally things got worse and the constant strain of the battle caused a cave in on the small city burning many parts of the city but also trapping the necromancer and a majority of his undead army. Tudolf was even still inside the bar, passed out and asleep on the very side of the rubble that the necromancer was on which wasn't good since his only experience with fighting was hand to hand and he doubted anyone else would be doing the same. Two weeks later most people had tried to secure the rubble in order to make sure that the necromancer could not escape but after a mishap with some of the construction workers a very heavy support fell straight through the rubble and into the other side. While the guards prepared for a fight they were instead met with a half drunk dwarf wearing an amalgam of different armours and wielding nothing but his fists and magic. No one is quite sure what went down in there (not even Tudolf is quite sure) but Tudolf had found his calling, fighting off enemies with the might of his sword, the magic of his mind and the power of whatever had been poured into his last cup. Tudolf didn't stick around the city very long afterward and simply stayed as he was getting a blacksmith to forge him a strange looking gauntlet that no one was quite sure about wether it was purely for defence or wether it had a bit more 'kick' to it so to speak. Now he's on his way to join up with the band of mercenaries known as the black band, that is if he isn't killed first. Skills- -Experienced Hand to hand combatant I.E being able to throw down with people twice his size although some demons seem to be issues. -Tudolf has good aim, he can't hit a worm out of an apple that's hanging on a tree a mile away but he might be able to hit pretty close to the tree with anything from a spell to his gauntlet (see equipment) -Naturally Tudolf can hold his liquor well and can usually tell if there's something 'funky' in his drink such as poison or a potion although he is very unlikely to be able to tell what it is in the drink. (If needed)Magic/magical abilities- Tudolf possesses a wide array of magically abilities although a great majority if them are either useless or just utility. I will name out a few offensive, defensive and utility spells that are of particular interest: Growth: able to make himself just about the size of an Orc for a small bit of time (two minutes at Max) Zap: able to fire off bolts of electricity from arms or palms. Also able to conduct it through metals. Flame: able to manipulate fire but not actually create any. Also his control over this is more difficult as flames like to flicker and such. Light: he can summon a small glob of light that will float above his hand for however long he holds his hand out. Arcane bolt: a short blast of raw magical energy that is very unstable which means it will quickly disparate when it moves to far away from the caster but it is also very fast. Water to wine: he's able to quickly turn normal water into a variety of alcoholic beverages. He is very skilled with this spell. Equipment- -poorly put together armour that has bits and pieces of very different cultures and races to thank for the parts. It basically a welded together mess that's mostly been able to stay together thanks to the magic inputed into it. -Gauntlet that fires short range stones or pebbles at high velocity thanks to black powder. It is set off by the snapping of the fingers on the particular gauntlet. (If needed)Extra items- -A steel and wooden mug that has his initials scratched in it which he also commonly uses as a weapon to accent his unarmed combat. Other: I will wear the black band my fine bean! Name- Talto Bruneer Race- Human Age: 14 Male/Female- Male Appearance- Talto stands 4'9", and weighs 95 lbs He is most commonly seen wearing a baggy white tank top, and loose fitting green cargo shorts, paired with martial arts slippers. His hair is kept neatly shaven, and is yet to grow facial hair. Prior to the augmentation Talto had brown hair, and dark brown eyes, but after the augmentation, the magic has changed his hair to a very dark grey, and his eyes to a azure blue. Has a large burn mark running down his back. Backstory- Raised as a orphan in the Imperial City of Avalad, Talto was keen on thieving, conning, and stealing to survive. One night while sleeping, Talto, and many other children in Avalad were abducted by some force unknown, it was then that they were taken to a military training camp far deep in the North. While he was captive, they were forced to undergo augmentation of a kind, perhaps even magical. Only Talto and a few children survived this change, and those that did were trained rigorously through day and night with almost no rest. It would seem as though fate did not want to see that these to exist, and during a night in which the children were tired, and the instructors were asleep, a mighty dragon came through and incinerated the camp. Some of the children tried to fight, but they too were killed, and while they tried to fight, Talto could only flee. He ran for days, not stopping for breath, food, or water, and while he did, he could only see the sight of his friends getting slaughtered by the dragon, eventually Talto collapsed from pure exhaustion. When Talto woke up, he was surrounded by men in armor, and when he opened his eyes, he fixated on a figure with his hand outstretched towards Talto, and the figure only said one thing. "So, will you put on the black band?" Talto stared at the man with eyes that were not broken, but were roaring with passion, and anger, and he grabbed his hand "I will wear the band." Skills- Talto is very well versed in the arts of war, and knows how to use a multitude of weapons efficiently, however he does prefer fighting with his fists, and his skill with his fists is great enough to be able to stand toe to toe with the Black Band's strongest brawler's. Talto fights dirty, and uses tactics that would be deemed "dishonorable". Talto knows basic survival training. Talto is very athletic, and can run for almost impossible amounts of time. Able to pick locks, and fool people decently Magic/magical abilities- Magically enhanced body, giving him strength and agility far past his years, and even giving him a strong resistance to other magics. While not formally trained in magic, it would seem that Talto has a natural affinity for lightning. Equipment- Basic clothing, combat knife, and a pair of gloves designed for a battlefield. Other - Talto is still a child, and will still think and act like one. In case of seeing anything traumatic, Talto will flee. Talto has a deep hatred for anything draconic, but is terrified of a actual Dragon. Syrah 42, the Riftsplitter. Human, Cambion Male Syrah 42 Backstory: Syrah, or rather “42” as he was referred by before he adopted the name, was one of the 66 magi bred into the world. As men breed dogs for function in the fields or hunt, so too did they breed mages for their magical abilities. By careful pedigree, magical bloodlines tracing for centuries back would flow down from each generation, each father passing on the powers of great magi past. Amongst his 66 half-brothers, 42 was bred for supreme magical affinity, the magical blood of seventeen generations of magi ran in his veins as he was conceived among the masses of surrogate by the intermediary incubus. Of the 100 children born that night: his half-sisters were sent away to become oracles and enchanters in Orindon, while he and his half-brothers were whisked to become sorcerers and wizards in Avalad. They never told any of the boys their relation to each other, as they studied the mystic arts and gleaned an arcane education. Like an esoteric boarding school, each student was raised steeping in the magical arts, coaxing them to demonstrate their abilities as they advanced through their years. By their 16th year, each would be tested and then placed into their respective areas of advanced studies. Or such was the plan for never did a boy frustrate their instructors as much as 42. 42 was inept at destructive magics, incapable of illusionary arts, barely capable of summoning and hardly fitting as necromancer. While the others found their particular niche and specialty, his magical blood was deemed wasted. On the day of their 16th birthdays, during the grand exam, he had failed to impress the council and perhaps even his unknown father who may have sat amongst them. As such, he was decreed to be unfit to contribute to the next generation of magi, as he had been unable to display the magnificent arcane powers within his veins as his other siblings had. That night 42 went to sleep as a failure, and the morning after, 42 awoke a eunuch. But by that same afternoon he escaped. Tearing a rift through the warded walls and guarded corridors, 42 unleashed his sorcerery throughout the cosmos as space bended and warped before him. Fueled by desire and despair, his bloodline was finally unlocked as his veins glowed hues of stellar blues and radiated their untapped potential through his body vessel. He tunneled though the other side, and saw it: a world beyond the books he knew. The market was alive, filled with people and obscure objects. Strange visions of the city as voiceless merchants shouted their wares and buyers haggled over prices. This was magical, another realm beyond those he had learned of. By the time the alarms were activated, 42 had seen enough and walked into the first portal he had created. Unfortunately, being the first portal he had created, 42 had created one high above the market tents where it went unnoticed for minutes, until stepped through to fall upon a merchant’s stall completely ruining his inventory of wine as the barrels broke his fall. While the merchant was furious at his loss by this rapscallion, dressed in his academic robes, 42 was not like any other street tramp which had occasionally attempted to ruin him. Maybe he was a wizard’s apprentice, and those wizards had money to go around wearing their fancy robes and reading their fancy books right? “What is your name, boy?” “Forty-two sir.” “Do you take me for a fool, boy? That is no name for a streetrat who ruined my stock of Syrah!” Taking him by the collar, the merchant intended to have the tramp’s master pay for the lost stock. Yet, what neither of them knew was this was merely the beginning of the partnership. Years later, 42, or Syrah as he goes by now, works for the new Merchant-King of Avalad. The old merchant gained an asset, and the boy gained a father figure. It was quite convenient to have a sorcerer wrapt around one’s fingers, especially one who could open a portal from one city to the next. Far-flung goods from around the lands were secured within minutes as portals to various cities were opened for shipments, allowing the Merchant-King to control stock and inventory at a ease without worry of troublesome bandits, time or tolls. With his portal mage, business was good, but when a group of mercenaries arrived seeking the assistance of portal mage, business was better. A service charge of 3% per job, of which 1.5% would be paid in advance, and a flat fee of 1% applied on top of the 3% to cover his mage’s own expenses and finally a 2.5% deposit for the safe return of his mage in “good condition.” These were the terms laid out to the mercenaries, which were accepted. “Syrah my boy, go make your old man some money so I can retire.” “So it appears, Father: I shall go, and I will wear the black band.” Skills- Keenly trained logistics, and learned in the arcane arts. Resourceful in creating novel uses for magics and versed in theoretical spellcraft. A linguist by travel of trade, fluent in just about any common trade language, including reading and writing the more esoteric scripts which he often uses to inscribe his spellbooks to privy his thoughts from the less learned. Magic/magical abilities- Portal Magic: While lacking in perhaps more conventional magic, Syrah tears asunder wormholes through space within moments. Lesser magisters could scarcely dream of forgoing the incantations and reagents needed to create a portal with a scant wave of a hand or snap of their fingers let alone direct the spatial tunnel as quickly as he may burrow them. Thus, with an unparalleled ability to quickly cast and create dimensional distortions, Syrah is quite the mobile spellcaster. The limit to his portal magic of course is determined largely by the distance between the two points of travel, as such, while local dimensional rendering may be instantaneous, creating fairly stabilize portals between cities may take a minute. The second caution when dealing with portal magics is the duality of the portal, which allows travel in both directions as long as they remain stable. Another caution to note is, in the event an object traveling through the dimensions should find itself caught within a destabilizing portal, such an object would either be sliced between the planes, or crushed between them depending on the length of collapsing precipice tubule and the position of the object. The creation of a more permanent portal is possible however, but doing so would require a physical anchor which counteracts the physical spatial collapse and an energy source to maintain the portal breached. Equipment- An enchanted spellbook which serves as a spell focus, also useful for hitting people on the head with in case of need for physical combat. Other: Sounds awesome, count me in! Name: Brooch "Titan" Carmine Race: Human Age: 42 Gender: Male Appearance: Gigantic man of metal clad from toe to his balding head in mighty heavy plate so bulky its actually kinda hard to move in it. Under the visor of his helmet youll find a warm smile and bushy beard. and scars, lots and lots of scars. Backstory: The story of Brooch Carmine does not start at his birth, his childhood or teenage years, for these things were trivial. The story of Brooch the "Titan" begins when he was half forcibly drafted to serve in a local lords petty grievance with a neighboring province. The time spent on battlefields that broke many a man only seemed to temper this young man into an instrument of war. Brooch rose trough the ranks and was found commanding his own small squad of soldiers quite quickly indeed and it was this squads actions atop the enemy fortifications that broke the final siege and claimed victory in the name of their lord. Then he was cast aside like a broken blade, the lord didn´t wish to spend coin on a standing army and his forces were disbanded save a small token guard force. The fighting had awoken inside Brooch a growing hunger, not the hunger for blood or screams tough, no the hunger for GLORIOUS COMBAT, CLASH OF STEEL AND WORTHY OPPONENTS, and also the inevitable celebration following a hard earned victory. Thus he began his journey as a sword for hire. And on that journey he developed his style, Brooch believes that the way to victory is found by outlasting your opponents. Cities and important places Avalad is the capital of the western men. It is a rather large city that is separated into different districts. Most of the buildings are made of a from of sandstone. The entire city, except for the port and the slums, is surrounded by a high wall. The wall itself has small communities growing off of the inner part of the wall. In the center of the city is a tall palace with a tower that just peeks over the wall. The Avalad Guildhall is not only the largest building on the wall of Avalad, but it is also the 2nd biggest guildhall of the Black Band. The large seven story building, that is made of iron and black oak wood, has been placed unto the wall by a mix of magic and dwarvern skill. It begins with a small courtyard just large enough to be able to hold public gatherings, but small enough to be easy to defend. The courtyard leads to a flight of black oak stairs that add about another two stories to the building. A large iron door lies at the top that leads into the greathall or greetinghall. The large room makes up half of the first floor. The rest of the first floor is mostly fancy rooms to keep people entertained. The second floor consists of two things: a balcony that over looks the greathall, and the living quarters for guests and new recuits. The third forth and fifth floor are a mix of living quarters and Supply rooms. Though on the third floor lies the feasthall, and kitchens. Also hidden behind a certain armor stand is a way into a set of tunnels that go throughout most of the wall. On the sixth floor is were most of the lieutenants sleep, and also were the region captain sleeps. There is also a rather large library that also is set into the seventh and a small part of the fifth floors. In the seventh floor is the were most of the arcane business of the building is taken place. The guildhall's personal hospital is also found on this floor. On the roof you'll find a small tower that leads to the top of the wall.
