No no. I made a post that was supposed to be for another thread. Since you can't delete posts on here, I edited it instead.

I made a family tree for my royal house yesterday but I plan on showing it along with family history. Basically that will be two of the things necessary when applying for the RP later. I will write it down sometime this week, possibly 26th. You can use it as an example for when you start working on yours.

Quick question: Have you ever heard of Crusader Kings II? Because I've just realized that this RP and Crusader Kings II have a lot in common.

I've seen shenryyr2 play it, though. I suppose it's kind of similar, I never really thought about it. Have you played it? Since I didn't really get into it and it's somewhat historically accurate maybe you could help me out if you know how the game works? I need help with the RP and perhaps the game could be a good source of information :D

As a matter of fact, I do play Crusader Kings II. And after playing it for hours on end, I'd say I have a pretty good understanding of how the game works.

I want to know how the administration within the country is set? Like, a kingdom is separated into smaller duchies which are then separated into counties, etc.?

Hmm. Intriguing. May I ask whether we are going to follow a precise storyline set in real-time, or just a fictional one totally unrelated to Europe?

> Hmm. Intriguing. > May I ask whether we are going to follow a precise storyline set in real-time, or just a fictional one totally unrelated to Europe? There's no clear story line, we write our own destiny. But some historical events will happen and depending on our external politics it's effects can either be marginal or actually affect our Roleplay directly, for example historical wars, and if we're allied to one of the belligerents we would be dragged into the conflict. The events can be militaristic, environmental, political, social, etc. and I will write them down in advance and trigger them when the time is appropriate. Some will be historical some will be completely random to keep the RP interesting and going.

Like, a kingdom is separated into smaller duchies which are then separated into counties, etc.? I've just realized that the game ends after 1337, exactly 63 before the start of this RP in 1400. So we won't be able to use Crusader Kings II for information without sacrificing historical accuracy. However, if you're willing to forgive the inaccuracy, here's the administration according to Crusader Kings II, starting from the largest and ending with the smallest: Empire Kingdom Duchy County Bishopric/Barony/City (They've been put together like this because they all only exist within a county.)

I believe this was an administrative division among European monarchies for centuries after the 1400AD as well. I could be wrong but I think this would be historical. Too bad Europa Universalis series doesn't tell us anything about administration :) anyway, I'm having a dilemma, because our realm is too small, it probably shouldn't be a Kingdom from the start, perhaps a duchy would be an appropriate title at first. So I could make 2-4 counties in it and the ranks would be something like: Duke(Herzog)-Count(Graf)-Baron(Freiherr) and then other gentry that owns specific villages, towns, etc. like Burgraves, Lords (herr), Knights (ritter), Patricians(petty noblemen) and Edlers(means nobleman). The ranks will expand as country expands so I'll add Margraves, Landgraves etc. The higher the rank of your royal house members, more power and money you get.

And seeing it's set in the same year, I will assume they've done some research when making it so I could use the wiki page for some information! Thank you for introducing me to it :)

I believe Patrician 4 also as some historical political and administrative positions and their jobs. Though I believe it has nothing above Mayor of Town/City.

I think I got the titles and administration figured out now. As for economy we will most likely use English names for money because it's less confusing. German ones are a tongue twister and too hard to remember, me thinks. It will look something like this. 1 pound=20 shillings 1 shilling= 12 pence 1 pound= 240 pence I'm yet to figure out salaries for different troops and tax revenues, income from mining, fields, fishing, etc. By the way guys, do you know what kind of jobs people of gentle birth did? Other than being military leaders, soldiers and church members. Like, it doesn't seem there's a lot of career possibilities for nobles. Once we get a navy I guess admiralty will also be an option, but that falls under military leader as well. Could they be merchants or just hire merchants to work for them as a source of income? I guess diplomats, bailiffs and such were also jobs for nobility.

I guess diplomats, bailiffs and such were also jobs for nobility. Well... a great number of nobles were simply married to other families to strengthen the bonds with other families, both males and females. Anyhow, most of them became clercs; a really little percentage of nobles became wandering knights, mostly in search of fame and a title, though this custom greatly disappeared as the national monarchies began to sprung. Also, I still don't have clear the time of the Rp ^^'. 1300-1400?
