Abaddon could barely hear the angel anymore. She was a distant sound, as was every other, all noises becoming warped and confused. He felt detached from his body, and perhaps he was; he had no means of checking. All he was able to do was feel. Images flashed through his mind, millions of flickering images of anguish and pain that he had been directly responsible for. The images seemed to eventually take on a life of their own and turned to him, accusing eyes and directed screams. Unlike before, Abaddon actually felt their pain. He derived no joy from it, only pain. *"A mutamur."* A voice repeated over and over, through the warped nothingness. *A clean slate*. He understood now. To be forgiven was to suffer and understand and be reborn. Abaddon smiled as the light disappeared and he dropped to the ground, dazed and exhausted but, at the same time, feeling anew.

Camael hurried to Abaddon's side as the light vanished and he dropped into the ground. He looked as though he'd just rode the fastest and highest rollercoaster in history as a mortal - with adrenaline pumping through his veins as though he wouldn't wake up tomorrow. She sunk to her knees beside him, hands immediately seeking solace on each of Abaddon's cheeks. She searched his face for any sign of pain, but oddly, what she found was relief. Confused endlessly, she called out his name, "Abe?"

Abaddon opened his eyes and looked up at the familiar and now comforting face of Camael. His guardian angel. His smile grew as his energy seemed to return to him somewhat and he leaned up, suddenly seizing her lips with his, his hands moving up to rest lightly on her neck.

Camael's eyes widened at the contact, not expecting something like this. Of course, she had kissed him first, but that was only because it was necessary. This? This was something else. Something extraordinary. It lit a fire from inside her - a fire that she didn't want to extinguish. It was with this thought, and the warmth that overtook her, that she held him close and deepened their connection.

Abaddon felt her respond, much to his surprise. He had expected her to pull away, to slap him across the face. It seemed as if this clean slate was already affording him things he couldn't even dream of as a demon. Sure, he could take whoever he wanted in that form, but it was meaningless and hollow. He had rarely had the urge beforehand. This was something worth the pain he had endured; he would have fallen for this, had it been offered. He broke away after a few moments and looked at Camael, his smile warranting his next words null and void. "Sorry about that." He breathed.

THe kiss was something she wanted to initiate again and again. Camael had relentlessly watched over people in love - acting like some sort of angelic cupid to the humans whose love always seemed to falter despite her invisible guidance. Of course she knew what kissing meant, what the warmth in her body meant. She'd seen it a hundred - no, a million times before. It was when the kiss broke and Camael saw Abaddon's eyes again, that it all came down on her like an ice cold bucket of water. What was she doing? She knew where things like this ended. What was she doing? She broke away from their contact, eyes wide and mouth agape. The distance between them went from nonexistent to gigantic. "I'm sorry," was all she said before her wings sprouted and she did something she was never known to do. She ran.

Abaddon opened his mouth to protest, wanting to stop the angel from leaving him. It was the last thing he wanted her to do, the last thing on earth or in Heaven or Hell. He couldn't stop her. She was gone before he even made a sound. Standing up, he left the building and closed his eyes, ready for the pain that would be brought on by his wings unfurling. None came. He opened his eyes, and beautiful wings curled up over his shoulders, white and slightly shimmering. The happiness he felt beginning to grow was quickly overtaken by a feeling of worthlessness. Camael should be here to see this. He flew into the air, allowing the cold air to focus his thoughts, and set off in search of his angel.

Camael found herself staring out into the city from that rooftop again. If she really wanted to not be found, she knew she should have chosen another place. Maybe she wanted to be found. No, that couldn't be the case. It would be sinful for her to think that. This rooftop was just a familiar scene. That's right. It was something familiar, and after all that happened, she needed familiarity. Her eyes slipped shut and a lone tear made its way down her cheek. "Forgive me, my Lord," she whispered into the wind. "I let the temptation that surrounds this city get through to me. I am tainted." And yet, she could still taste him on her lips and it caused her to shiver. She disgusted herself.

Abaddon flew for a while, attempting to sense the angel. It seemed that she was, whether conciously or not, blocking him out. He could sense her slightly, a kind of buzzing sound indicating whether he was getting closer or not. The buzzing grew much louder as he neared a familiar scene. Landing softly on the roof top, he saw and felt her at the same time. More than that, he felt her sadness, her regret and shame. That turned his stomach a little, but he moved towards her nonetheless. "The world is falling, isn't it, angel?" He asked softly, his words reminiscent of the first he had spoken to her.
