Confederation of the Spice Isles
Location
The Isla Confederacy is located across the islands of western Ikora (all islands except the largest island and the two furthest north).
Geography
The geography and climate in the Spice Isle region varies: Some islands in the region have relatively flat terrain. Such as Islas Windward, Islas Santa Rita, and Islas de Polvo. Others possess rugged towering mountain-ranges, like Isla Hagåtña, Isla Rügyia, Puerto Libre, and Puerto Nuevo. The climate of the area is tropical, but rainfall varies with elevation, size, and water currents on an island by island basis. Warm, moist tradewinds blow consistently from the south-east creating rainforest/semi-desert divisions on the more mountainous islands. The region is the area most battered by hurricanes and seemingly random monsoons in the world. The region enjoys year-round sunshine, divided into 'dry' and 'wet' seasons, with the last six months of the year bringing in clouds of incredibly thick fog, as well as more rain.
Government
The Spice Islanders are united under a confederacy, and as such have a very weak (practically non-existent) central government that consists of; A 'Greater Antillia,' (effectively a president-like figure) who serves as a go between for the individual governments of all the Spice Islands, as well as an ambassador for foreign policy, and a general public figurehead for the outside world.
  • Current Greater Antillia
    • Camilla Biez
A 'Lesser Antillia' who serves as a go between for all trade taking place in the Spice Islands, and oversees trade to other countries as well as ambassador of all things commerce.
  • Current Lesser Antillia
    • Pedro II Lupez
A 'Lucayan,' or 'head of joint defense' de-facto leader of the combined militias of the Spice Islands, typically only called upon during times of war, the Lucayan is usually a position taken by the Greater Antillia.
  • Current Lucayan
    • N/A
And the last role, with perhaps the most power held in the Confederacy's central government is called the 'Buyan Lucia.' Although technically a position intended to be completely separate from the government, the Buyan Lucia is the spiritual leader of the Spice Isles, and holds a much more significant place in the hearts of the people, both domestically and abroad, as a symbol of peace and good-will. The Buyan Lucia is said to be born with a soul completely devoid of impurities, and they are chosen at birth by the standing Buyan Lucia to dedicate their lives to helping others and promoting peace, despite personal risk or lack of any rewards. The standing Buyan Lucia is said to be able to detect when the successor to the role is born, and the two serve together until the standing Buyan Lucia's death, thus allowing the tradition to continue indefinitely. Although a tradition originating from Isla Rügyia, the tradition was adopted and accepted all over the Spice Isles, and the Buyan Lucia is a figure heavily respected and admired by the populace, as well as abroad.
  • Current Buyan Lucia
    • Helen Dominica
Each island has it's own individual government (with styles ranging from socialist democracy to religious monarchy) that handles day-to-day domestic issues, as well as to a lesser extent, foreign trade, diplomacy, and military action. They are generally autonomous and only come together as a region for certain matters, allowing them to maintain their full power and autonomy most of the time. The islands, and their various styles of governing are as follows;
  • Isla Hagåtña, largest island in the confederacy
    • Constitutional Religion based Monarchy
  • Isla Rügyia, second largest island, holds the capital and spiritual center of the Isles
    • Feudal Theocracy, headed by the Buyan Lucia
  • Islas Santa Rita, cluster of islands around Isla Hagåtña
    • Representative Democracy
  • Puerto Libre, foggy island close to Isla Rügyia and Puerto Nuevo, the smallest of the three
    • Autocracy
  • Puerto Nuevo, fishing island close to Isla Rügyia and Puerto Libre
    • Socialist Democracy
  • Islas Windward, islands close to the shore of a large Sorcon island
    • They are themselves a confederacy of small tribe-like towns
  • Islas de Polvo, cluster of islands farthest south-west from the rest of the Spice Isles
    • Representative Democracy
Economy
While the GDP of each island varies, very generally, the Spice Isles are a mixed economy based primarily on tourist revenue and the large agricultural sector of the region, exporting large quantities of most of the world's spices, as well as sugar, guano, and other plants grown in tropical climates. Also contributing to the Spice Isles' economic relevance is a powerful boating industry, a fishing sector, and a growing scientific interest in the region's weather patterns and wildlife, allowing for significant contributions from private scientific grants.
Military
Generally unorganized, the Isla Confederacy military is nothing more than a group of militias maintained on each island, only united under times of duress. Troops specialize is improvisation and guerrilla warfare and have varying levels of training and equipment depending on the economic status of the island they hail from. The region is know for it's laughably weak and unorganized air force, and conversely, for having one of the strongest navies in the world. The Isla Confederacy excels in information gathering, and trains some of the best spies in the world, with even regular infantrymen receiving basic espionage training.
Foreign Policy
While specific relations with other nations vary on an island by island status, generally, the Isla Confederacy seeks to maintain a level of peace and harmony with other countries in accordance with the The League of Nations.
Domestic Policy
Varies on an island by island status, however, there are a few constants;
  • Education is free, from elementary to post-secondary school.
  • Religion and politics, while not expressly linked, many find the word of the Buyan Lucia to be holy decree. Reverence for the message of peace is a commonality all the islands share.
  • All islands share a common currency.
  • The hunting of bats is illegal, hunting of other birds is heavily discouraged.
Culture and Society
Varies on an island by island status, however, there is a single constant held throughout all the islands; Respect for the Buyan Lucia-- their word is seen, practically, as law, and the message of peace preached by them resonates heavily with the entire Spice Isle populace. Each citizen attemps to see the Buyan Lucia at least once in their lives.

Arguably USSR doesn't necessarily have to refer to Russia because as far as its meaning goes it makes no mention of Russia. "Soviet" comes into Russian political terminology to often prefer to districts, sort of like state or provinces. It's like referring to the United State of America as the United States, it's actually not at all specific to a nation since it's describing more of a political state than a national identity. These terms only get that way when brought into the context of a world, in particular our own; where they have more meaning. So the only cause of complaint may be the usage of Marxist-Leninist since arguably those are "our world" terms and not fantasy world terminology. One might also argue on this vein "Spice Islands" is just as realistic as there are regions of our world that are - or were - referred to as the Spice Islands, predominately Indonesia and that archipelago there was known as the Spice Islands for quite some time. In any even it's pretty much expected to rip off RL cultures to build a nation in an NRP I've found. It's easy and folks can relate. Though most often it seems to be Rome that's the target of other people's "appreciation" so there's a lot of pretentious Latin themes.

Like Dinh said, it's not "Soviet Russia". We are creating our own nations/countries from what we know. I want to play as a Communist State. So, designing a communist state can count as original idea. My nation sheet is still WIP.

WIP is fine. I totally understand if you want to play as a communist state in the RP just take into consideration that the modern form of communism in practice is pretty different from Lenin or chairman Maos idea of it. Also consider changing the name from USSR to something invented. When I see USSR at the top of your page I think USSR-simply because that culture had such an incredible impact on the world. Not to mention your rulers name is almost exactly the same as Russia's current president. If your hell bent (see what I did there?) on using the Russian/slavic naming convention for your country here is a name generator I recommend: http://fantasynamegenerators.com/russian_names.php#.VNQyp-bF-So @Darcs The spice isles are really shaping up. What is the official name of the Buyan Lucia religion? Or do I just call it Buyan Lucia?

Kingdom of Aukewåy Geography The territory of Aukewåy is extremely rich in resources in its coniferous forests, lakes, and rivers—pulp and paper, lumber, and hydroelectricity are still some of the nation's most important industries. The far north of the province, Svendavink, is nearly arctic and is mostly inhabited by tribesmen. The most populous region is the Åntlend valley in the south, where the capital, Estholm, and the largest city, Hanlinn, are situated. South of Hanlinn are the Fjedorikas, a range of ancient mountains, and to the east are the Helmdørek Mountains which extend into the country's northernmost regions. The Fjedorikan valley, located at the southernmost tip of the country, is a fertile agricultural region, producing dairy products, fruit, vegetables, maple sugar (of which Aukewåy is the world's largest producer), and livestock. Aukewåy has three main climate regions. Southern and western Aukewåy, including most of the major population centres, have a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and long, cold winters. The main climatic influences are from eastern and northern oceans which move eastward and from southern and central Atlan that move northward. Due to the influence of both storm systems from the core of Atlan and the neighboring oceans, precipitation is abundant throughout the year, with most areas receiving more precipitation than the entirety of Sorco, the majority of which is snow. During the summer, severe weather patterns (such as tornadoes and severe thunderstorms) are far less common than in most of Atlan, although they occasionally occur. Most of central Aukewåy has a subarctic climate. Winters are long and among the coldest in eastern Atlan, while summers are warm but very short due to the higher latitude and the greater influence of northern air masses. Precipitation is also somewhat less than farther south, except at some of the higher elevations. The northern regions have an arctic climate , with very cold winters and short, much cooler summers. The primary influences in this region are the neighboring oceans' currents and continental air masses from the continent's northernmost points. Government Politics in Aukewåy take place in the framework of a parliamentary representative democratic constitutional monarchy. Executive power is exercised by the King's Council, the cabinet, which is led by the prime minister. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the Aukwegian Parliament, elected within a multi-party system. The judiciary is independent of the executive branch and the legislature. Being a constitutional monarchy, the functions of the King, Harald IV, are mainly ceremonial, but he has influence as the symbol of national unity. Although the constitution of 1829 grants important executive powers to the king, these are always exercised by the Council of State in the name of the king (King's Council, or cabinet). The king is also the High Protector of the state church and symbolically Supreme Commander of the Aukwegian armed forces. The Council of State is formally convened by the reigning monarch. It of a Prime Minister and his council, formally appointed by the king. Parliamentarism has evolved since 1898 and entails that the cabinet must not have the parliament against it, and that the appointment by the king is a formality. The council must have the confidence of the Aukwegian legislative body, known as the Aukwegian Parliament. In practice, the monarch will ask the leader of a parliamentary block that has a majority in the Parliament to form a government. After elections resulting in no clear majority to any party or coalition, the leader of the party most likely to be able to form a government is appointed Prime Minister. The unicameral Parliament's members are elected by popular vote for a four year term (during which it may not be dissolved) by proportional representation in multi-member constituencies. Suffrage is obtained by 18 years of age; voting rights are granted in the same year as one's 18th birthday. The Parliament currently has 169 members. The members are elected from the 19 counties for 4-year terms according to a system of proportional representation. Until late last year, the Storting divided itself into two chambers, for the sole purpose of voting on legislation. Laws were proposed by the government through a Member of the Council of State or by a member of the lower house and decided on by its higher counterpart, in case of repeated disagreement by the joint Parliament. In practice, the two houses rarely disagreed and mainly just rubber-stamped the each other's decisions. In 2010, the Parliament passed a constitutional amendment to repeal the division, which abolished both houses for the 2009 general election, thereby establishing a fully unicameral system. The Aukwegian legal system is a mixture of customary law, civil law system, and common law traditions. The regular courts include the Supreme Court with 18 permanent judges and a president, courts of appeal (court of second instance in most cases), city and county courts (court of first instance in most cases), and conciliation councils (court of first instance in most civil-code cases). Judges attached to the regular courts are appointed by the king in council after nomination by the Ministry of Justice. The special High Court hears impeachment cases against members of the King's Council, Parliament, or Supreme Court. Following an aforementioned amendment to the Aukwegian constitution in 2010, impeachment cases are heard by the five highest ranking Supreme Court justices and six lay members in one of the Supreme Court courtrooms. The High Court of the Realm had generally lost most of its significance after 1884, and this institution has been passive ever since 1927. The new system is meant to restore the Riksrett to its earlier significance. Impeachment may be brought against Members of the Council of State, or of the Supreme Court or of the Parliament, for criminal offenses which they may have committed in their official capacity. Indictments are raised by the Parliament and judged by five Supreme Court justices and six lay judges. The mainland of Aukwåy is divided into 19 counties. Counties and municipalities have local autonomy, but this autonomy is circumscribed by national controls. Counties and municipalities are subject to the oversight of a governor appointed by the king in the Council of State. One governor exercises authority in both Hanlinn and the adjacent county. Each county has a directly elected county assembly, led by a mayor, which decides upon matters falling within purview of the counties (upper secondary and vocational education, some culture, transport and social services). The counties are divided into 430 municipalities. The municipalities are led by directly elected assemblies, which elect a board of aldermen and a mayor. Some municipalities, most notably Hanlinn, have a parliamentary system of government, where the city council elects a city government that is responsible for executive functions. Some municipalities are also divided into municipal districts or city districts (again, Hanlinn is one of these) responsible for certain welfare and culture services. These districts are also headed by political assemblies, in some cases elected directly by the citizens. The municipalities deal with a wide range of planning issues and welfare services, and are mostly free to engage in activities which are not explicitly restricted by law. Lately, the functions of the counties and municipalities have been the subject of debates, and changes may take place in the near future. Economy Military Culture and Society Foreign Policy Location Work in progress. Grammar and spelling are likely awful at this point but are subject to change.
