So, hey, I'm going to change my name because I just thought of a better one.
Ah, I feel awful, but I'm not gonna be able to do this, actually. Good luck, though!ok, sorry you can't join us. see you later.
Hiiii~~!! I'd like to try out for the Light position!!! Cuz me! And cuz lasers. "Lay-zers." xDDDSure, go ahead and post a character. I'd like to start this RP this weekend. edit: Actual lasers would be an advanced technique. After all, you'd have to control the wavelength and direction of the light, plus make them all vibrate in sync. It would be devastating if you could learn it, though.
HI~~!! K so like about the lasers! xDDD The bunny was just being silly. I dun know much about the whole scientificalistically stuffs yer talking about for this world but that sounds kinda urshums... and too complex :3 Sooooooooooo... like yush, kk... I'mma just do a regular-ish girl without lasers, k? No "lay-zers" from muh charrie, k? Bunnita! Mee! No "LAY-ZERS!!!" No!!! xDDDok. being a human flashlight and blinding people is still pretty cool though.
I STRIKE. Someone's sig told me this needed poeple. Looks like you got all you need dohWe still need a dark mage...
I would love to join as a light mage, but being a fucking horrible pedant with a boner for logical settings, I may not be the best choice. My main question is, how much is known about the magic system, and do the laws of physics work the same way. For example, what are the crystals made of, and do people understand the atomic structure of material. Does gravity work the same way? Are life and death not biological things, but some sort of magic-y or spirit-y thing? If so, does brain damage exist, like can someone take a blow to the head and be just fine because their spirit exists outside the physical, or at least if things heal will they recount their experiences with perfect cognitive clarity? Is conservation of energy a thing? If so, things are going to be pretty fucking dull with the lightning elementalist, seeing as lightning is a very energetic thing. In fact, do people understand electricity? What is "Dark" magic? Is it controlling the absence of light? If so, do people understand that light is a thing, and can light benders with the knowledge of this fact be able to dark bend? Is water an element, or just ice? People must know ice=water, so can an Ice elementalist control water? Also, where does the ice, or the fuel for the fire come from? Right, I think that is enough questions for now, I am fairly certain I am missing the point, but on the off chance you like this level of asshole realism, please consider me. I have a pretty cool idea for a character I'd like to play. It seems like the elements are meant to give us "balance" which I am [possibly wrongly] interpreting as meaning to juxtapose our characters, so I was thinking a middle-class smart-ass [play what you know, right?] who has never worked a day in his life, and has an inordinately happy outlook on life due to the lack of real suffering he has experienced. Light is an uncaring, unfeeling thing that shows us the good and the bad, and there is a metaphor in there somewhere for the kind of rationalistic scientifically-minded inquisitive character being shown the best and worst of the world. Also, it seems broken AF if I can control different parts of the EM spectrum. [oh shit that's another question - what frequencies can I control. Is it just visible light? Can a light wizard, with effort, create infra-red radiation? If so, fire mages are SOL]The short answer is science is the same. The light crystal would be some sort of glow in the dark material or lasing material then. In fact the "Dark god's Sky Palace" is actually a star ship, but they don't have a concept of this. The I'm not sure what the crystals are made of, but consider it a fictional material that stores a particular form of energy. Dark is just the opposite of light, and effectively removes photons from an area, or shifts their frequency so that we can't detect them. Ice does the same with IR radiation. Light is visible frequencies for the most part (I'm not sure if they would know that light is practically the same as heat.)
