The Noun Home Timeline: 0 Biography: Aside from describing your character and their personality, this is where you can post your character's real name, and their native language. Note that unless your character has a quantum computer or powerful magic (if they do, please say so under "travel method"), there is no such thing as a universal translator, so your character will often be unable to speak the native languages of a timeline. Travel Method: How does your character travel? Magic portals? A TARDIS-like cardboard box? A souped-up Lambourghini that leaves flaming tire trails when it timeskips? Powered armor with built-in equipment? Regardless of how, it should have a recharge period of at least 24 hours (please explain this as in-depth as possible, the information will be critical). In addition, can they understand anything other than their native language? Do they have a quantum computer or a magic ability/artifact to translate the languages of alternate universes? Timeline 0 This is where you describe the character's home timeline. The bad news is, you have to follow the golden rule: "The butterfly affects everything", so if their timeline diverges 500 years ago then there will be no World War II, no Sputnik, no 9/11 and no Oculus Rift. The good news is, the divergence point could be from our timeline (Timeline 1) yesterday if you can write a good character around it. --- Please remember that the RP is supposed to have our characters be complete unknowns to the universes they arrive in, so they all have aliases of mysterious titles like "The Huntress" or "The Carpenter" or "The Walrus". The Gadgeteer Home Timeline: 10810 (The "Gadget Heir" Timeline) Biography: On October 10th, 2010 a set of high-tech armor was fused to a child inside a life support tank, a boy believed to be the son of Werner Scribe, the patriarch of the Scribe industrial empire. The head engineer, Martin Zehn, believed he had lost his own son in the incident which injured the child, and quietly thought "Happy birthday, son" as the armor was attached piece by piece. Then a lot of information was streamed from the quantum computer to the brain of the patient, creating 10 years worth of a false life. The problem, or rather solution, was that Martin Zehn knew what life as part of the Scribe dynasty that employed him would do to a child's outlook, and instead had created a fictional family that was relatively well-off but humble to be the simulation environment. The other, actual problem was that the quantum computer had analyzed the DNA of the patient and supposed parent, and determined that the person the suit had fused with was in fact Oliver Zehn, not Mr. Scribe's son. The OTHER, other actual problem was that all the vast technological advancements that Scribe & Co. had distributed throughout their world over the past 10 years was derived from the same source as Oliver's armor, and they had not realized that the boy opening his eyes for the first time had permanent administrator access on the newly activated device, meaning that every electronic or quantum device on the planet was under his command. And when Oliver saw all the suffering and pain, much of which was caused by the Scribe dynasty's industrial empire... Oliver made it clear that he knew he was not Werner Scribe's son, apologized to Mr. Zehn for doing the terrible act he was about to do... and riddled Werner Scribe with laser gatling fire. He then marched out of the laboratory, and once outside, sent a goodbye message to his father. Then he activated the temporal singularizer, a part of the project Mr. Scribe wanted kept secret but was left wide open to administrator access, and shifted to a timeline unknown. Travel Method: The cybernetic suit known simply as the Mk.II, despite its Victorian appearance, is extremely advanced, and contains a Singularizer for cross-timeline travel. The suit's quantum computer is wired directly to the Gadgeteer's brain, allowing him to understand languages never before encountered provided he can get enough samples of analog wireless transmissions or good ol' human speech. The suit is essentially part of his body and cannot be removed, having replaced skin that was originally heavily burnt and being wired directly into the cerebellum. It recharges via a "backpack" built-in to the suit, powered by a pair of mysterious crystals. Dubbed the Symmetricite Crystals, they were impervious to all attempts to take samples of the material, and produce massive amounts of electricity when placed between four and five inches from each other, no more, no less. The crystals power the suit, but also simultaneously charge a set of carbon nanotube capacitors that are used to timeskip, and it takes between 24 and 25 hours for the capacitors to recharge. A laser gatling system is built into each of the Gadgeteer's wrists, where it is normally retracted beneath protective panels. The two pouches on his hips are only as big as they appear, but they are protected by locks that only open when he gives a neural command to the pouch he wants to open. He uses them to store any small objects such as a game console he picked up on his travels or his Psychic Wallet. His face is always covered by a breathing apparatus which is powerful enough to let him breathe underwater or in toxic gasses, but useless if there is no atmosphere. It has a thermoacoustic outer membrane which acts as a speaker, and the speech synthesizer is good enough that his speech sounds entirely natural for his age yet will translate to other languages if required. Finally, because the suit stands out so much in nearly any timeline, it has an active camouflage system. The camouflage can disguise him in the garments and ancestry (skin color, etc.) of a local human individual about the same age as himself. However, any sufficient impact such as from a melee weapon or a heavy or fast-traveling projectile will disrupt the system, leaving his true form plainly visible. Timeline 10810 A "YeAST" (Yet Another Steampunk Timeline) to the end, Timeline 10810 was held back thanks to a prolonged Great War (World War I) that lasted until the 1960s. Europe was left picking up the pieces for far longer than anything seen in Timeline 1, and the United States entered a second civil war that left the country split into three vertical strips. By 1980 the world leaders in technology were, in order, the Japanese Empire, the Soviet Union, Canada, South Africa and Brazil, but this quickly changed when Japan and the Soviets entered a nuclear exchange which destroyed their major population centers and left both countries poor, without allies and suffering from severe epidemics of radiation poisoning. Canada took the lead over the next several years, pushing the last few limits of steam-driven machinery by powering them using nuclear reactors. During this time the nation slipped into the same kind of dog-eat-dog attitude that befell the United Kingdom a century earlier. In the year 2000, an explosion rocked a factory complex in Vancouver owned by the wealthy businessman Werner Scribe, who had been visiting the factory with his infant son. At the time, Oliver Zehn, son of the Scribe family business' head engineer, was in his mother's arms as she brought the baby's father a forgotten lunch, when the incident occurred. Werner Scribe survived the event, but it took hours to clear the rubble and find the infant believed to be his son. However, the baby's body and face were so badly injured that he was put on life support. The body of Oliver Zehn was seemingly never found. Mr. Zehn, the head engineer, was devastated by the loss of his son and wife, but when he was asked to engage in a secret "company project" to save Werner's son he agreed to prevent the loss of another life. The project turned out to be the reverse engineering of an advanced suit of high-tech armor that had been found in the rubble, its origin unknown. It had seemingly fused to the corpse of the person who was wearing it, but most of the technology was explainable by their scientific knowledge. The child was kept barely alive in a tank of nutrients, and they were going to save him by turning him into a cyborg. The project took ten years and became the sole focus of the Scribe family's wealth and industrial empire, and during that period the amount of technological advancement outpaced aesthetic design by so much that television and video games were commonplace by the end, and quantum computers, augmented reality, virtual reality and fast-breeder nuclear reactors became a cutting edge available only to governments, corporations and the mega-wealthy, yet all encased in brass, iron and hardwood.

The Privateer Home Universe: 86 (The "Nova Roma" Timeline) Biography: A kleptomaniac "diplomat" from a timeline where the Roman Empire lasted into the modern day, "Exploratrix Prima" of the Inceptum de Trajectio Temporalium (Time Shift Initiative). As she was the first sent off to explore the multiverse, the Imperial Navy created and loaned her the Messor I, a one-person vessel equipped with technology which the inhabitants of most timelines have no hope of ever understanding. Unfortunately, they neglected to give her any form of translation technology, arrogantly assuming other universes would have the same languages. She speaks only a timeline-specific variant of the Latin language, forcing her to derive intent from physical cues. As a result, she's become somewhat disillusioned by the imperialistic claims of those who sent her, but regardless, she continues her attempts to collect artifacts and information from across timelines, hoping it will gain her some favor back home. However, in spite of the advanced technology she carries and her wide range of skills, her life story is currently a mystery due to the language barrier and the fact that she only rarely speaks. Travel Method: The Messor I is a craft which perfectly reflects the mindset behind its construction: Elegant, gaudy, heavily detailed, yet surprisingly efficient and simple to operate. It is constructed in the shape of an icosahedron, mounted on a pair of pentagonal tank treads. Its outer casing is composed of a type of white plastic which is foreign to Timeline 1, coated with a glossy wax and then covered with an array of ultra-compact solar panels. It can be entered and exited through a round hatch in its top face. The words "MESSOR I - INCEPTUM DE TRAJECTIO TEMPORALIUM" are engraved around the circumference of the hatch. Inside the vehicle are a single seat and numerous controls, all of which are written in Latin, and the back face is connected to a large cylindrical storage bay. On each edge of the outer surface is a copper rod. The network of rods is believed to be linked to its ability to travel between timelines, since electricity leaps between them as it travels. It is only capable of making a jump once every 24 hours, as the battery it uses to jump requires a substantial amount of power and drains after each use. Timeline 86 Rome is not known in our universe for having a very good ending, but nobody truly knows the reason for its fall. Over 200 different theories have been devised, with little support for any of them. But what Rome had never fallen? What if Romulus Augustulus had never been deposed in 476? What if the Germanic tribes had all been pushed aside or assimilated through their might? It may sound unlikely, but after Timeline 86 diverged, that is exactly what happened. Over the course of its 3,000-year reign, Rome remained strong, eventually growing to encompass most of the civilized world, with the exception of numerous smaller nations surrounding its borders and the majority of islands, particularly Japan, which only vaguely resembles the Japan we know, and Australia, still mainly inhabited by its Aboriginal peoples. Society progressed, technology advanced, language developed. In this world, traditional Roman ways are beginning to decline, in favor of a secular, egalitarian, constitutional monarchy headed by Januarius Griseus. But not everyone is happy living under Roman rule anymore, and Griseus' position of leadership is now in jeopardy as a result. With colonies declaring their secession left and right, Griseus' advisors suggest spreading to other timelines in a bid for power, and the first person chosen for this undertaking is a woman named Gloriana Titanus. She was told to act as a diplomat, extending the hand of peace to other worlds, but as the craft's engine shunted her out of her universe, she would suddenly come to the realization that the Empire was asking a far bigger task than they had originally believed.

The Paladin Home Timeline: 616 (The 'Crusade' Timeline) Biography: With the demonic forces gaining momentum, the Holy Crusaders, the Catholic Church's militant arm, sought more effective means with which to combat the threats. Despite their attempts, the titanic automata fell one by one, replacing them arduous tasks which would take weeks to complete. Seeing no way of preventing the destruction of humanity with what they currently had, the Inquisition, the secretive arm of the Church, sought out those particularly blessed, demonstrating powers of particularly marked strength. One thousand men and women gathered in the city of Constantinople, now known as the Fortress of the East, having endured centuries of attacks. None were given specific information as to what would happen yet all knew that their task meant the future of the world. Upon arrival all were directed to a mausoleum at the center of the city, a massive, gilded construct of black marble. At its heart lay the body of a saint who had died five hundred years ago, single-handedly fending off an army of demons before succumbing to the taxation of utilizing such a massive amount of holy power. Body still preserved, it was explained to the thousand that with the sacrifice of their powers, the saint could be raised once again, leading humanity into a brighter future. A thousand voices spoke their agreement and a thousand heads bowed, praying in unison as light began to coalesce in the room. Each felt their holy magic draining from their bodies, flowing through the luminescence to the saint, clad still in armor. Despite the preparation and security, something began to go horribly wrong. Black streaks scattered through the light, inflicting pain in all. Fervor filled the voices, fighting the intrusion. It was for naught. Lightning, in much the same manner as the day the demons first entered the world, struck the mausoleum, cracking the roof open and piercing the body of the saint. Dark energy wreathed the body and began to drag the body into oblivion, the prayers doing nothing to stop the disappearance. One of the thousand, seeing the futility of their actions, took a knife and charged into the swirling pool of energy. Consumed instantly, her martyrdom sprung the others into action. Standing and moving forward, they formed a connected ring and as one touched the energy, it spread across all of them. Their voices did not falter as they were consumed. After a minute, only ashes were left of the thousand but the saint was saved. In a way. While not destroyed, the saint's now-living body was flung out of the timeline, left with nothing but faint memories, scrolls, and a sense of duty. Travel Method: The Paladin utilizes holy magic to travel, an ritual requiring elaborate preparation and short casting time. Able to open a gate to almost any timeline due to the omnipresent nature of God. In addition, portals can be cast to areas visited previously as resonances remain to be tracked. The Paladin speaks a variant of German, similar to that of other timelines yet harsher in nature. Through spells, the Paladin can understand other languages as long as the effects last. Timeline 616 The Crusade timeline is exactly what it says, one filled with wars of religion and fervor. Timeline 616's divergence occurred almost nine hundred years before the current date in Timeline 1 on the eve of the First Crusade of Pope Urban II. Christendom gathered its forces for the largest expedition to occur since the time of the Roman Empire, tens of thousands of soldiers and pilgrims advancing with the collective goal of reaching the city of Jerusalem. At first all went the same as in Timeline 1, the Crusaders advancing slowly but surely towards the Holy Land. All changed upon the assembly at Constantinople. With close to 50,000 people in the pilgrimage, the Crusaders awaited to cross the Bosphorus in the spring of 1097. Passage secured, all awaited to step upon the shores of the Middle East eagerly, impatient to continue their journey to Jerusalem. Arriving at the palace of the Byzantine Emperor, the nobles bid farewell to Emperor Alexios. As they turned to leave, lightning struck the palace, smashing apart the roof of the room in which they stood. Dark clouds broiled above the city, flashes of red streaming across the sky. Gaping maws of chaos opened in the clouds and hordes upon hordes of demons began to pour through. Terrified, most attempted to flee. The princes returned to their forces, rallying them to destroy the demons. Two days of bloody battle ensued until eventually the clouds closed, leaving the once great city of Constantinople a ruin and the Byzantine Empire decentralized. The Crusaders would return to Pope Urban II and tell their tale. Hearing this, he informed them of events that had occurred elsewhere. Vast swathes of the world lay in control of the demonic hordes while in the defended areas, various people were rumored to be blessed, wielding extraordinary power gifted from God in order to combat this threat. Preoccupied with defense, technology the world over stagnated, no significant advances being made. Instead, the new holy blessings were found to be able to imbue objects with life of their own, creating automatons and other automated equipment. For centuries, the Crusaders have been fighting an endless fight, attempting to eradicate the foe which threatens to consume them. After recent gains, however, reports of terrifying 'Demon Engines' have surfaced, massive constructs of immense power that could level cities at a stroke. Thousands upon thousands of blessed men gathered across Europe, creating their own titanic warriors with which to fight. But even this could not stop the incessant powers of hell. Humanity fights a losing battle and unless help can be found, the Earth shall be wreathed in fire as hordes of demons trample across the remains of civilization.

(Here are a few NPCs I'm posting data on for later use.) --- The Fugitive Home Timeline: 545 (The 'YACHT-545' Timeline) Biography: Not much is known about the Fugitive. He was convicted of theft for stealing a protein brick while he was starving, turned into an experimental cyborg soldier, and then freed from the control of his masters by a hardware malfunction. Travel Method: The Fugitive is infused with nanobots, and has had his upper torso nearly completely replaced with cybernetics (and originally containing a hefty amount of explosives which have since been removed), complete with oversized hulking mechanical arms which force him to walk on all fours (feet and fists) hunched over. These parts combined have been configured to use quantum algorithms to Singularize the Fugitive and timeskip him to his next destination. Timeline 545 After Jimmy Carter was reelected, the wealthy elite used the President's second term to pull the plug on humanity and instigate nuclear war, retreating into bunkers underground for a year while the "peasants" were left to the elements. Upon emerging they set up a dystopian society not unlike a 1980's cyberpunk film or novel. By 2015, much of Earth's resources have been exhausted and space exploration had not panned out. So they set up a project to allow them to traverse the timestream. A prisoner was selected to test the prototype timeskip device, a thief locked up for stealing a protein brick. A quantum computer core was strapped to his back, and it proceeded to sedate him and convert him into a timeskip-capable cyborg using a nanobot swarm. The Fugitive was born. And due to a flaw in the "control AI" promptly escaped to a universe unknown. (Refer to timeline 810 for related events.) --- The Shifter Home Timeline: N/A Biography: "The character of Jenny Everywhere is available for use by anyone, with only one condition. This paragraph must be included in any publication involving Jenny Everywhere, in order that others may use this property as they wish. All rights reversed." Though her personality varies across the multiverse, she's usually enthusiastic, kind, generally angst-free, and eager for adventure and toast. Travel Method: Jenny Everywhere is a unique individual in that she has existed at some point in nearly every universe, and if she hasn't yet then she will. She has the useful power of being able to subconsciously recall the things all her alternates have done, making her a good contact to have as a timeskipper. She essentially knows every variation of every language by heart, so it shouldn't be a problem to talk to her no matter what dialect you speak in. Because of these traits, Jenny can't timeskip herself and thus cannot join the party of PCs.

The Traveler Appearance: Standing at a height of 6'1", this seventeen-year-old boy looks pretty average at first look. Wearing what would be called "casual clothing" in Timeline 1, The Traveler's only other really noticeable feature is his naturally red hair and pale skin. Home Timeline: 7847 (The 'Hero' Timeline) Timeline 7847: In timeline 1, on July 8, 1947, the 509th Operations Group had recovered a "flying disc", which had crashed on a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. It has long been thought by conspiracy theorists that this mysterious object was in fact of extraterrestrial origins. In timeline 7847, these theories were actually fact. This "flying disc" was in fact a meteor that carried an unknown radiation that, after landing, spread this radiation into the atmosphere of the Earth granting all humans superpowers. Fast forward to the year 2014, the origins of the meteorite and the radiation, now named Meta-rays, were finally revealed. The radiation was the creation of an alien species, named Ry'ots, who were experimenting with doomsday weaponry to defeat another unknown alien species. Through a series of unfortunate events, the station where these weapons were being developed was destroyed by a meteorite shower, and the Ry'ots had been searching the Milky Way to recover their weapons or prevent their enemies from discovering them. Unfortunately for the human race, they had now become evidence of these experiments and needed to be destroyed. Biography: Michael O'Malley, a seventeen-year-old boy, was born in New York City, New York. He lived in an orphanage most of his life, never knowing who his real parents were. He also never discovered his abilities until the day of the invasion and so was an outcast among his people. The sole escape from his terrible life that he had were comic books that he would often rent from a local library. Michael, who wanted nothing more than to be like the heroes he read in these stories, often times tries to imitate these fictional heroes by displaying personality traits like optimism, courage, and loyalty. The only language he knows is English. Travel Method: Michael's ability, which he only discovered during Invasion Day, was to be able to travel to different timelines. Unfortunately, every time he travels to a new timeline he gains an immense migraine that does not disappear completely until a day later. Pills like Advil and ibuprofen will help somewhat, but not much. Michael has also discovered that traveling while still under the effects of this migraine will affect his ability to accurately travel, and suspects that he could actually die if traveling while affected by the migraine. So he obviously avoids that.

The Solver Home Timeline: 89 Biography: Alexander Chaser, a good and capable 27-year old man was having trivial issues. Alexander works as a computer programmer during the day, and trains his martial arts skills by night. While rarely spending his money at the casino, he had a small debt to pay to the casino owner of $200 dollars. Seeing as he was currently all out and he left his credit and debt cards at home, he couldn't pay at all. He was kicked out of the casino and owed $300 due to angering the casino owner. In the morning, he received a weird telephone call saying to go to a 'new' small cafe called the Teacup to earn the money he payed back. He did as the caller asked but was on red alert. When he arrived at the cafe the doors unlocked by themselves and he entered. Inside was a massive control panel in the middle of a metallic alien-like room which he could describe as, 'something from a sci-fi show he was sure he watched.' To his left upon entering was a closet with four different outfits, a western outfit, a fancy suit, casual wear, and winter wear, all of them fitting perfectly. To his right was a comfortable bed and a table to the left of it with a plant atop of it. At the control panel there was a note and something that seemed to be a brass knuckle taser. The note said, "I know you are goodhearted and that you will do good with my old machine, take good care of her, Alex. P.S her name is the TEACUP which stands for Timeline Emmigration Allowance Contraption Undermines Physics. Oh and that taser really packs a punch, it has a psychic range of 400 feet!" -The Healer After learning how to use the TEACUP and the brass knuckles, he began starting to solve problems in various timelines, including the "Japan Takes Over timeline" (802), the "Technophobe timeline" (8742), the "False Gods timeline" (666), and the "Scarf timeline" (3527). Following his first fix, he called himself the Solver. Travel Method: The Timeline Emmigration Allowance Contraption Undermines Physics is a more unorthodox method of timeskipping. Outside, it will always resemble a Cafe or other eating establishment (Inn, Restaurant, Coffee House, Soup Kitchen, Fast Food Franchise, etc.) with crimson red walls and a black awning over the door, and when it arrives in a timeline it adapts its shape not only to match the local customs but also the terrain it has landed on. Whether it arrives in the middle of a lifeless desert or a towering arcology, it will always look as if the blueprints were made for the area it is built on. Inside, however, is a different story. A control panel wraps around a central pillar in the main room, along with secondary controls along the outer walls which override the system in the case that the primary controls are damaged/destroyed. To one side of the room, where there is a lack of any control panels, is a strangely comfy fold-out bed, a nightstand bolted to the side of the wall and a potted plant on top of the nightstand. The structure can create additional rooms as required by using the control panel. Timeline 89 Diverging as Timeline 64 in the 1970s, several corporations that don't exist in Timeline 1 came into existence. Goliath Entertainment, Draconic Studios (run by Xander Chaser, Alex Chaser's father), Phox Games, Video Gadgeteer... And in the wake of this shift in the history of video games was a shift in history as a whole. You wouldn't think that the Phoxole, Draco System or GamePlayer would have a major effect, but they did. By 2014, virtual reality was already on the market for 2 years, and augmented reality was well on its way to becoming an equal to the internet. Timeline 89 diverged from Timeline 64 in 2013 when Alexander Chaser found himself owing a gambling debt to the mafia, and was preparing to make a break for it to Canada when he received a mysterious message from the owner of a newly opened Cafe called "The Teacup". After finding himself the new owner of the Timeline Emmigration And Contraption Undermines Physics (TEACUP) and fleeing through the multiverse, the fact that he left and that the "cafe owner" is likely still in Timeline 89 have undoubtedly affected it greatly.

The Merchant Home Timeline: ? Biography: This shady yet friendly (maybe a little TOO friendly) capitalist can inexplicably be found at any of the inter-timeline bazaars throughout the multiverse. He's the head of the operations, renting space out to other shopowners. Travel Method: Nobody knows. Perhaps he's like the Nurse Joy's and Officer Jenny's from the Pokemon games? Or maybe he's constantly jumping from timeline to timeline using an as-of-yet unseen feature of the small device he carries which translates all of his speech. It's kind of like asking what the fox says.
