I've studied a bit of Astrology and have a fair bit of interest in the subject. I'm not a believer that it's a tell-all know-all "science," but I find it interesting and its interpretations intriguing to read.

This isn't intended to be a Horoscope/Predictions page but rather a more "intellectual" thread in which various topics of Astrology may be discussed or inquired.

Here are a few questions to start us off:
What is the best way to remember what the Planets represent? Is it best to go by the God they represent and/or the historical events surrounding their discoveries?
What is the best way to remember what the Signs represent? Is it best to go "Yang, Fire, Cardinal" or to have a few (or many) key traits?
What is the best way to remember what the Houses represent? Is it best to correlate them to the Sign they line up with?
What is your favorite type of chart to read?

Here are my answers:
I just try to remember key aspects while remembering which Signs they rule as a hint as to what they represent.
I personally go with "Yang, Fire, Cardinal" with their few descriptor words I can remember to interpret what they represent. I always try to keep it vague since the signs are the most malleable within a chart.
I try to remember the sign they line up with or just attempt to remember what they mean on their own. This I have the most difficult time with.
I, personally, only do Natal Charts since that interests me the most yet is also the "simplest" my mind can comprehend considering all there is to Astrology itself.

The only thing that anyone needs to remember about astrology is that if they remember anything about astrology they're wasting their memory.

Okay. Well, instead of being definitively negative, why don't you give examples of why it's a waste of memory? The same could be said for many topics that do not progress human nature or the betterment of the earth...such as role-playing >.>

But I'm interested if there is a legitimate reason for this disdain or if it's just the fact that it says "the planets determine who you are." Do you have any bad experiences with Astrology?

If you wanted a serious conversation about astrology (as self-defeating as that is), you should've made a thread about it elsewhere. This is a sensible island in a sea of irrationality, where stupid things are treated exactly as they're described.

It's not possible to have a bad experience with astrology because astrology affects absolutely nothing.

That doesn't mean you should insult what they enjoy. Yes, they probably should of asked this in the Off Topic discussion rather than spam, but there is no reason to dishearten them.

I was torn about whether this belonged in Off-Topic or Spam...I played it safe and went here.
Ninja'd...guess so...
And I'm not disheartened. Those are valid points and I actually agree with them, but not to such a harsh-sounding degree xP

Good points...do I PM to have this moved or is that not a functionality as of yet?

^ Accidentally putting a thread in Spam has no negative effects whatsoever on Spam, and we live in a marvellous age where you can copy and paste an entire body of written work and repost it elsewhere.

It's fine in Spam, just don't expect anything serious.

Not when it's serious. Just leads to arguments. But as long as they are fine with it, then it's fine :)

Astrology has factual basis in astronomy, except its more colorful and symbolic.

I truly don't believe the ancient peoples were attempting to convey any message with the zodiacal symbols, but I'm a Scorpio so

Nothing is worse than people who take their astrological signs too seriously. Nothing was more mind boggling than people refusing to date somebody who was otherwise super compatible and hit it off great with on account that their signs were incompatible.

I am nothing like your typical Gemini or Dragon, and I have zero interest in paying attention to what celestial bodies tens of thousands to millions of kilometers away doing that isn't science-based or somehow believing that they are somehow effecting how people behave and determining their personalities, or believing that they're going to effect my luck and finances and so on so forth. It's like mass-prescribed superstition, where instead of wearing rabbit anatomy for luck, you try to embody what some ancient person decided makes a person a rabbit.

Its kinda funny, considering most of my signs are sorta correct. I dont follow them, but I find it ironic when they are correct

Funny, I do find with geminis as casual friends, but anything deeper (like close friends, or more) is terribad.

Also I don't really take astrology shit seriously but sometimes it coincidentally lines up, plus it's fun as a timewaster.
