Edoniras , a beautiful continent surrounded by vast seas, with its lands holding bountiful riches. A Empire named the Norian Empire sought to make all of Edoniras its domain, and it conquered vast chunks of Edoniras. Those nations who did not fall under it’s flag saw themselves bowing to the Empire’s many Emperors, and they constantly feared invasion from the massive Empire. However after a while the Empire found it self plagued by overextension, being incapable of defending all of it’s holdings. Corruption, Inflation, and even disease soon followed, and the once mighty empire collapsed. The various Noble Houses seized the opportunity as they carved out chunks of the Empire for their own, and the smaller nations grew, no longer fearing the Empire’s hordes of soldiers. It has been a few years since the Empire collapsed, and the new nations are now starting to thrive once more. The Powers of the world arise and awaken, seeking to dominate and expand. Guns were invented prior to the Empire’s collapse, but now they are a widespread. You take hold of one of the mighty powers, shall you expand your empire through military force and make yourself feared? Or perhaps you shall take to the seas, conquering through ships rather than through armies. You may prefer however to expand your nation by expanding it’s economy, dominating your enemies through vast wealth and riches. Whatever your choice, a new age has come, intelligence and science is on the rise, and it is time for change. It is time for an Age of Glory.” There is the idea, now for the rules and NS. Rules: 1. Standard RP rules apply, such as no godmodding, powerplaying, metagaming etc. Guild Rules apply as well. 2. Be nice and respectful, if you have a issue with me or someone else and wish to debate it, do it respectfully. 3.My decisions or the decisions of Gowia are FINAL, if you have a issue with them, PM us and attempt to debate it. 4.No arguements in the OOC, if it is related to the RP add me and all persons involved to a PM and I will monitor and I will make a final decision. 5.Do not insult other RPers, even if they insult you. Bring the issue to me or the Guild Mods. We are supposed to be a little happy family of RPers, not people bitching at each other. 6.The Reply Blob is a false god, and shall not be worshipped in these sacred halls. 7.Any orders need to be put into a hider at the bottom of the post, summed up for this. We love reading your posts, but sometimes we do not have the time and need to get the update together as quickly as possible. NS Nations Name: Flag: Form of Government: Describe the System: (Describe how your country is run in some more detail.} Location on Map Desired: WIP Capital: (Please point out where in your land you would like this and your other settlements to be otherwise I will put them all on your borders for easy access of an invading army.) Important Settlements: Description: (Describe your nation. Culture, language, currency etc.) Important Characters: Traits: Army: (Gowia will roll this, navy, GDP and stability.) Navy: GDP: Population: Stability: Traits: Traits work like this, you start with 4 points. When you are done with your traits you must have 0 or greater for it to be balanced. You also may only have two +/- traits, and certain traits are marked with a S, these are super-traits. They are taken from normal traits, and have double the effects but double the costs, and you may only have one super trait. There are also super negative traits, which add stability but can severely cripple you in that area. 8-9 traits is probably the maximum if you want to avoid stability concerns(stability being rebellion and the likes)
There's not much else to say, but I am hoping from great things from all of you guys.

If Colonial Powers was set around 1700, when's the date of this? Obviously I'm thinking Corustaria again, but given that its history mirrors Britain and the renaissance is a relatively large chunk of history, it may be a sort of half done Corustaria, if I'm allowed to play a pseudo-nation where de jure parts are aren't part of the country, but de facto they may as well be (IE, like the British isles was during the 1600's, where Ireland, England and Scotland were all legally separate kingdoms but were all ruled by the same king.)

While I don't know if I can join this due to time restrains, I'll keep an eye on this (I have a nation sheet from the original game that I can easily adopt to this game). @duck55223 I would also like to get an idea about the "era" this will take place in, just as darkwolf has asked. The Colonial Powers RP's were all in the 18th century, so like the beginning of Empire: Total War, the Enlightenment Period in Rise of Nations, etc. When you say "Renaissance Era", are you talking about the Italian Renaissance? That would be somewhere between the 14th and 17th centuries (1300-1600's). Just wondering. So, would it be something like the Gunpowder Era in Rise of Nations? Would it be something similar to Pike and Shot? Just asking because my nation is inspired by ancient Greece and Pikes (like those of the Swiss) would jell well with that idea. Edit: Also, could we also request the inclusion of certain NPC nations? If I do join, I still have a fight to finish with a certain NPC nation from the original version of this game (or at least the original version of this game after Guildfall).

I was thinking the exact time would probably be somewhere aorund 1620s-1630s. I also may include the NPC nation, depends on what happens.

I did not place the capital and cities in the description because I am waiting on the map. I can supply one if need be. Also, how does rolling work? Are there modifiers based on my traits and backstory? It wouldn't really make sense if I had the economic super trait yet rolled a 1 for it… Stability: Slightly Stable On another note; what is the common language called? Just common? Tradetounge? Wanderspeech?

Ultim
Two problems. One, you can only have King of the Seas once. Second, your total adds up to -2 (if you do not include the second King of the Seas).

Hm. I cannot find a suitable trait to bring me up. My only choices are: State Controlled: Your market is controlled by your ruler, every business is state owned and all works are employed by the state, you are less vulnerable to crashes in the market however with the lack of competition your country advances more slowly and the economy rises more slowly. +1 Landlubbers: Your sailors don't exactly train on a boat, boarding and marine forces perform slightly worse due to the moving deck. +1 Both of which make no sense. I may just have to take landlubbers… How many points do you get for no army?

The point system here is trying to prevent people from being good at everything. So, you could chose Landlubbers or State Controlled. However, that would put you at 10 traits. While 10 traits are legal, more than 8 or 9 traits will give you a less stability (although the 'What is Gunpowder' trait is supposed to give you better stability). Or you could remove the "Ships of Line" or "Natural Great Men" (this would allow you to get rid of "Never been out of the village"), or you could get rid of "Kings of the Sea". Any of these options will give you the correct amount of points. Going back to my first point (points prevent people from being great at everything), since it looks like you want to be great at the sea and at trade, you might want to get rid of "Natural Great Men".

Added landlubbers. My role-play revolves around many great inventors and strategists, but I will admit it is slightly vanity.

God to see some decent and invested interest here. I shall take a minute to answer any questions...and if I take a look through current NS I may make some rolls depending on whether or not I can be arsed to do a one off or wait for a few more and binge roll.

@Gowia I would like to request a roll, but how do they work? Are modifiers taken into account? Please let me know. Also, since I have more than 8 traits, is my stability automatically lower? And wait…we start with 4 points. Just realized that. Gonna go remove landlubbers. If I have 3 points, does that help my stability? If not, I will add Multicultural and remove Ambitious generals.

So basically everyone has a basic set of brackets that their numbers could fall into depending on my rolls e.g Army totals go up to 60,000 max, and 30,000 at least with no army traits whatsoever. Then, using your trait choices, these brackets are moved up or down to reflect the strengths and weaknesses. A friend of mine designed a programme I use to do all this in one quick and easy swoop. In regards to stability having more than 8 or 9 traits means the brackets for stability is lowered however it doesn't mean you will automatically have a bad stability. Having spare points does not help your stability, no. Let me know when you have made the change and I will start your rolls.

Ready! Also, is there a way I could access this said program? I ask for an unrelated reason, but it sounds useful for NRPs as a whole, of which many of mine revolve around stats.
