Name: Edgar "Ed" "Eddie" Walsh Age:20 Companions: separated recently. Currently travelling alone Belongings: damaged journal with torn pages, couple cans of refried beans, water bottle, tensor bandage, pocket knife Background: Like most, Edgar grew up a drifter with a small colony of survivors. He was the kid of the group for the longest time, as his dad and his dad’s friends led the pack. His dad would tell him stories of a world before, but they often felt more like fairy tales than reality. Ed knew only of the ashen trails, the blood-stained concrete and the sheer madness of existence. His mother had died giving birth to him, which meant that his dad was his main passage of support for most situations, and he tried hard to protect his kid from the world around him. But unfortunately, the world had become something too harsh to hide. Food was always scarce for the groups of people, and there would often be days where no one would eat a bite. As a kid, his size proved his usefulness as he squeezed through boarded windows on buildings in order to scavenge anything that might have been left behind. Sometimes it was this fact that kept him alive. He knew that cannibalism occurred in the group. He had grown up understanding it as a fact of life: you needed to eat whatever you could in order to stay alive. He can still remember the greedy eyes staring at him as madness settled in, and the many arguments his father had to derail whenever people started getting ravenous. It was around the time he turned twenty that his usefulness started to run out. The group had become much smaller over the years as people started to die off, and while Ed did everything he could to help, he knew that his quiet and anxious nature was enough to make him a liability for the group. So when his dad started getting sick, and they hadn’t eaten in several days, Eddie knew that he needed to keep his eyes peeled. His anxiousness rose to astronomical levels as his dad started getting weaker and weaker. He could still feel eyes stained with insanity digging into the back of his neck each time he stepped away from his ailing father On the night when his heart finally stopped beating, Edgar was still wide awake, his anxiety preventing sleep. He spent a single moment, closing the eyes of his father, before he grabbed his dad’s journal, their mixed supplies, and he ran away as quick as he could, using whatever methods he thought of to lose the trail of his tribe. It may not have been the smartest idea… But Ed grew up understanding that you did anything you could to live longer.

WORK IN PROGRESS Name: Bambiette (Bambi) Manolo Age: 26 Appearance:
Companions: A 24 month year old female infant.
Belongings: -Medium Saddle bag -Large Nalgene(1.5L) & a smaller Nalgene (750ml)[both attached by a large Carabiner to her bag -Several packets of instant oatmeal -a small metal bowl with a make shift handle -BBQ lighter/lighter fluid -Medium wool Blanket -Pacifer/Small Teddy bear -Very Well Worn baby harness -Pistol (6 bullets)
Background: She was born in a surprisingly established community in a multifloored factory. The community was all held together by a strong sense of family. Bambiette's mother died shortly after her birth. Mother's dying from pregnancy was a common occurrence since "the end", medical professionalism was a dying practice. She was named after the fictional character "Bambi" by her father, who fittingly saved her mother from cannibals in field. Bambiette's father was very highly regarded in her community for his bravery and dedication to keeping their community running. Overall, she grew up very well loved and taken care of by the community. She was employed as a gardner to the "town's" makeshift greenhouse. She loved the plants with an extraordinary sense of felicity and took pride in caring for them. It filled her with a sense of pride every time their was a harvest, striving for better and better produce each season. As she aged, her skill was noted by others and she was promoted to a garden manager; She taught a small team of younger children how to weed and water the plants while she began working on seed germination. She truly began to regard the tiny seeds as her children. There, however, happened to be a shortage of mechanical workers in the factory and unfortunately she was repositioned in her late teens. The community was dwindling during this time, sickness had afflicted many of the citizens and due to lack of medication and fear of infection many were killed for the safety of the community. It was an arduous time for everyone in the factory. Bambiette would prove to be an efficient mechanic, although she often spent her free time in the greenhouse. During her time as a mechanic, she dealt specifically with repairing the pipes that heated the commune. She met a young electrician, Jack, whom would soon become her bestfriend. He would often accompany her to the greenhouse, where they'd spend hours talking and playing cards in the comfort of Bambiette's "home away from home". The young electrician met a lovely girl when the pair were turning 19. Their relationship quickly became conjugal. Despite potential suitors, Bambi was often too concerned with her greenhouse to care for the semantics of relationships outside of work. When she was 21, her father fell deathly ill. They both were aware that his life was coming to an end; And, the noble man that he was, he understood there was no point in using rations on a dying man. On a long winter night, Bambi's father asked her to shoot him with his revolver and end his life. He smiled and told her the pride he felt for her dedication and the relief he felt in leaving this hectic world. With a tear, and a flash; The deed was done. Bambi became very reclusive after the incident. She became consumed by her work and would often spend many sleepless nights running useless maintenance on the pipes. Jack became increasingly worried at the distance she was placing between them, but the newly wed was busy with his pregnant wife. It was a lonely time for the young woman but she bore her pain with an elegance for the good of the commune. The father had been an idol of strength in this community and Bambi placed it upon herself to keep that image. Times had gotten harder for the community, many people had died of scattered illness and their location had become too well known by antagonists gangs. The colony, asides from well established barriers, was not prepared for battle. Weapons crafting was becoming a large aspect of day to day life, as attacks on the colony's became more abundant. People she had played with as children were dying around her to protect their home. She only became more reclusive and dedicated in her work as a mechanic. She dedicated herself to reinforcing the makeshift metal barriers. Their dwindling numbers coupled with the raise in attacks were omens of bad news. Joy came to Bambiette's for the first time in years when Jack and his wife had a beautiful baby girl in the summer of her 24th year. The young girl was suitingly named Sunny. Jack named her after the only power source he knew would never fail in his life time. The little girl begrudgingly warmed her cold heart as she developed into a spry toddler. It was the middle of the night, Bambiette was 25 years old, she was doing her rounds of the barriers. Suddenly a rupture of light and energy shook the very foundations of the earth that surrounded her, throwing her to the ground. She looked behind her and saw figures surging through leaping flames. They had managed to find enough TNT to blow through the wall. Screams of panic quickly ensued, Bambiette realizing the explosion had blown through Jack, his wife and Sunny's side of the factory. The commune's soldier unit began to retaliate against the attackers. She pushed through hordes of screaming citizens that flocked like locus away from the fire. Breaking into their room she saw the mangled body of Jack and his wife, fatally wounded, crouching over a swaddled infant. "Take her and run. Please." ..So that's exactly what she did.

Name: Riagán ó Flannagáin (Press the Alt Gr key in the bottom left of your keyboard and press a vowel to get á, é, í, ó, or ú) Age: 24 Appearance: Riagán is tall, at about 6 foot 2 inches. You can clearly see that he comes from Ireland, with pale skin, that easily burns. For this reason, he can almost always be seen wearing a long sleeved shirt, and long trousers, whatever the weather. Riagán has above average muscle from having to do manual labour, but not too much, due to the lack of nutrition. As any true Irishman, he has ginger hair, which he keeps at a medium length, in order to keep heatstroke at bay. Companions: Mathúin ó Flannagáin, Riagán's younger brother, 17 years old. Mathúin is about 5 foot 11, and like Riagán, has pale skin and ginger hair. He also has to wear covering clothes, but they are slightly too large for him. Belongings: Enough food for a couple of days for two people A hip flask of Irish whiskey A pouch made of the hides of various animals, filled with some flesh, also from various animals A box of matches A lighter, which is around three quarters filled with fluid. A knife, with blood stains Background: Riagán was born in what was the Republic of Ireland, and learnt Irish as his first language whilst growing up. Through various vagabonds coming through his village, he managed to learn English to a half decent level. When he was 7, his brother Mathúin was born. Riagán and Mathúin had quite a peaceful existence until they were 15 and 7, respectively, when a band of raiders came into their village, and slaughtered everyone except for them. Riagán hid Mathúin in their house, and Riagán stood watch. He saw as they cut, shot, and kicked people. Riagán felt no emotion, if anything, he found it interesting on how the people of his village squirmed about as they died. He then saw the raiders cut them up, and take the spoils of their victory with them, one or two of them taking a bite. When they had gone, Riagán went outside, and bent down near a morsel of flesh. He picked it up, and put it in his mouth, and, strangely, found it slightly tasty. He picked up a satchel of flesh that he had seen a raider drop, and went back to Mathúin in their house. After a couple of days on their own in their village, Riagán decided that he would take him and his brother away from the village. They spent a year walking west across Ireland, only speaking Irish, not taking the time to teach English to Mathúin, translating whenever speaking in English was required. Mathúin, did, however, pick up a word or two of English here and there, and could hold a conversation for a couple of minutes, with the help of Riagán. After a year in Ireland, they made it to the Atlantic Ocean, and after two and a half months, and with the help of 15 other Irish people, had made it all the way to Nova Scotia, where they lived for a few years, still not having Mathúin learn English, as they limited contact with the outside world. Riagán, however did still have a taste for human flesh, sometimes hunting people down to eat, but would never let Mathúin near it. After a while, they decided to go away from Nova Scotia, and set off for Norfolk, Virginia. They have nearly made it.

Name: Stella Patten
Brown hair, hazel eyes, 5’3’’ Age: 23 Companions: Her older brother, Derek, 30; blonde hair, green eyes, 5'10''
Belongings: Rucksack with extra socks and some clothing, blanket, a first aid kit with iodine, sewing needle and thread, disposable lighter, tweezers, soap, and gauze; can opener, folding knife, 3 cans of ranch beans, 2 packets of ramen noodles, several small boxes of raisins; 2 water bottles, homemade charcoal filter, and a Bible and a Red Cross manual; machete Derek’s Belongings: Rucksack with extra clothes, sleeping bag and blanket, utility knife, 2 cans of tuna fish, 2 packets of cream of wheat; 2 water bottles, homemade charcoal filter, straight razor, 2 packs of Marlboro Reds, zippo lighter, map; single bit axe Background: Stella was an accident all her life. Her parents had not wanted another child after Derek and had taken preventive measures but something failed and thus Stella was made. Another mouth to feed in the barren hills of the Appalachians, the Pattens were forced to move and join up with others, gravitating towards a commune of people determined to try and make a go of surviving without resorting to barbarism. There were those that could not stand the hunger and succumbed to suicide or cannibalism, those that did were exiled or executed, depending on circumstances. While their parents worked in the compound, Derek was forced to play baby sitter. Though he could be impatient and mean he always watched out of her and taught her to defend herself. When she was 10 and he was 17, their mother disappeared and their father committed suicide shortly after. It was a shock and the conditions of the compound deteriorated with more people slipping away and the cannibal gangs growing more bold. Her brother was determined to stay and make their home there until his girlfriend was taken while he was out scavenging and he could no longer be in the place. Stella went with him when he decided to explore behind the familiar hills. Stella convinced him to go towards the sea, that things would be better on the coast and it would be warmer. At that point, Derek did not care either way but if she was going to go, he would follow and keep her safe. They are inseparable even if they can be insufferable towards each other, they always have each other’s back. Derek has some skill in metal working and engine repair, taught to him at the compound. He made the machete his younger sister carries and Stella can read and write, something he struggles with. She’s read books she finds during the scavenging, trying to keep as many as she can before her brother forced her to leave them behind because of the useless weight. Though she lacks formal training, Stella has read about medicine and first aid, and also other non practical things like religion and art which her brother finds useless. Derek can be a bully, stubborn and willful but he always looks out for Stella who more thoughtful and sociable. They bicker and argue but are always united against the dangers of the world. She would not last long without her big brother's guardianship and he would have fallen to dispair without his sister's kindness. They have made their way to Norfolk, keeping to backroads and travelling overland when they must. Derek had an old tattered map he dug out from rusted out truck cab and with Stella’s help, they have navigated their way near the once bustling port on the marshy coast of Virginia.

Name: Yusuf Demir Age: 35 Appearance: Companions: The doll he named "Sally" never leaves his side. Belongings: A knife that is little more than a prison shank, an assortment of very old candy wrappers, a pouch containing 9 golf balls, and a tin canteen for water. Background: Yusuf has always been very peculiar. From the time he could walk, the boy would always be searching for items to add to his collection of "treasures". In fact, it was this obsession with odd items saved his life. When Yusuf was only 8 years old, he and his parents were staying in a temporary shelter inside of a crashed airplane. His father went outside to fetch some water, and was attacked by a group of raiders. His mother knew what had happened, and blocked what she thought was the only opening. She was so busy that she didn't even notice that Yusuf had crawled out a tiny hole so that he could pick up a colorful magazine that he had spotted from inside. This is why Yusuf was left living after the raiders broke through and killed his mother. Upon returning into the aircraft and seeing his dead mother on the floor, the boy covered his "sleeping" mother with a blanket, and put a cushion under her head. Yusuf stayed inside the aircraft for a year, leaving only to gather water while his father was "away on a vacation" and waiting for his mother to wake up. Finally, the then 9 year old boy grew tired of waiting, and wrote a note to his mother saying he would leave for a while, but would come back every two years to see her. As the boy grew up scavenging for treasures, he kept his promise. Every two years, he would return to the plane. After a while, his mother's bones were reduced to dust. However, he would come back every two years to spend a day with her regardless of her no longer being there.
