"Heh, it worked." Nefas grinned happily. She had just created a portal to the human world. She took a deep breath. This was a moment she had waited thousands of years for. She stepped through the portal.

"OW!" She fell with a rather loud bang into a pile on the floor. Looking around herself she saw that she had just come from a the portal that was situated on a ceiling of a human living room. "Well... That wasnt supposed to end up there..." She stood up. She grabbed her spell book and started flicking through it to look up where she went wrong frowning muttering to herself in the devils tongue also known as old Latin.

Sarah sighed as she casually made her way back to her dorm room. She had two papers due this week, and she wanted to get started immediately. On top of that, there was a test coming up next Friday, so she needed to study. Everyone always called her a bookworm for how much she focused on her schoolwork, but she didn't mind much; even she admitted that she was a bookworm, and she found nothing wrong with that. So what if her idea of fun was curling up under her blankets and reading her newest fantasy novel instead of going out and partying? Fun was fun no matter what form it took.

Digging into her backpack as she finally reached her door, she pulled out a small key. With a turn and a *click*, the lock was open, and Sarah stepped inside. She used to have a roommate - Jessica - who had been all about the party life. They'd gotten along... well enough, but Jess had eventually moved into another dorm with "a crowd more on her level". Having a room all to herself, however, didn't bother the blonde one bit. She'd had it all to herself for months, and she'd made it into her own private little book nook.

So when she stepped inside to find a very beautiful yet somewhat intimidating woman standing in the middle of her room with what looked like some kind of tear in the fabric of reality on her ceiling, her natural reaction was to scream.

"W-w-who are you?!" she stammered, still clearly terrified. "How'd you get in my room?!" She glanced up. "...And what the heck happened to my ceiling?"

Nefas stopped as she was interrupted by a scream. She looked up. "Oh shush, Im just about to close it." She said calmly as though this was a normal every day thing. She went back to reading and speaking in Old Latin before then clicking her fingers. The portal closed. She smiled triumphantly to herself.

She then turned her attention to the scared looking girl " Oh yeah... You..." she said trailing off. She looked around herself once again. She was in this girls apartment. "Hey" She said simply as she wandered around her home, looking at things, picking them up. Putting them down. Trailing her fingers on a dusty shelf. "You need to dust..." She said simply as she wandered around as though it was her home. "This will do I suppose... I will be staying here" She added looking around at the girl who was still stood in the doorway. "I am Nefas. Your name is...?" She asked in a polite manner.

Her mind still reeling from the shock of what she was seeing, Sarah momentarily forgot how to respond. "Oh, uh, I'm... I'm Sarah," she told her. Then she shook her head. "Wait, why am I introducing myself to you?!" she shouted. "Who are you? Why and how did you get into my apartment? A-And just what do you mean you'll be staying here?! You most certainly will not be!" She pulled open her door and pointed outside. "Now get out of here before I call campus security!"

Nefas blinked at this girl, her emotionless face unchanged. She walked around to the sofa and sat down and pulled her spell book back out. "Call them, they wont do anything. I can be very persuasive." she said calmly as she flicked through her book. "And will you stop shouting? Because I will warn you this once. If you continue. You wont like what I can do to people." She said not moving her head but glancing up at this Sarah. Her eyes went back down to her book. "I would like something to drink. What is you humans drink... Tea? Coffee?...Ill try one of those..." She said as she continued to read her book not looking up at the blonde.

That alone should have warned her that something wasn't quite right, but despite being so academically successful, Sarah was still just as error-prone as any other human. "N-now you listen here!" she told her, stamping her foot down in emphasis. "You get out right now, or I will call the police! If this is some prank or something, then consider me pranked and go home! I have way too much to do to deal with this right now!" She would have been alerted a long time ago if she were getting a new roommate, so that very likely wasn't the case - the lack of any items but her own (minus the other girl's book) was further evidence for that. So she was either a burglar (and a rather poor one at that), or this was some silly prank set up by Jess or some other person on campus. Either way, she had no time for it. "Now please leave!" she said again, still pointing at the door.

Nefas was getting irritated now. She closed her book once again and looked up at this demanding girl. She stood up and made her way over to her. "Who do you think you are, demanding me?!" She hissed, her voice had a hint of a growl, made her sound slightly demonic. "If you dont shut up and go make me a hot human beverage I will take your soul... You should feel honoured that you will be playing hostess to me. Now if you do as youre told, I promise you that no harm will come to you and I wont eat you." She added getting slightly more angry as she spoke. Her eyes were now glowing a vivid red. She waved her arm and the door slammed shut behind Sarah.

Now she was getting concerned. "Take your soul"? This woman was either completely insane or-

The door slammed shut behind her, causing Sarah to scream and jump about a foot off the ground. That had always been one of her weaknesses: she was very easy to scare. She turned to face the strange woman again, only to realize that her eyes were now glowing red, cutting off anything Sarah might have been about to say. "W-Who... Just who are you?" she asked, now clearly very frightened.

Nefas looked at the girl still no emotion on her face. "I already told you. I am Nefas" She said. "I am the daughter of Lucifer...You may have heard of him." she added and sighed her eyes going back to their original state. "Now go make me damned coffee or so help me I will hurt you." She said as she was now beginning to lose her patience with the girl. Screaming all the time and yelling and demanding. She was the princess of Hell, God dammit. If this girl didnt start to behave she would just have to kill her and find someone else to play her hostess. She really couldnt be bothered as it was a lot of hassle and she just wanted to try human things was it really too much to ask? ...no of course not she was a princess, nothing was too much.

"The-" Sarah stood there, fright still etched on her face, before her legs simply gave out from under her and she collapsed to the floor. "ACK!" she cried, banging her head as she landed. The fall proved to be a blessing: for one, it didn't knock her unconscious. Additionally, the sudden jolt helped her brain start working again. She picked herself up off the ground, and began thinking carefully.

Okay, Sarah, she told herself. Approach this just like any other problem. Nefas claims to be the daughter of Satan. Evidence? Well, angry red eyes and a door suddenly slamming shut without any wind were pretty convincing. In favor of. Now what did she ask for? Coffee. She'd asked for coffee. "U-um..." She was having a little trouble finding her voice suddenly, but she managed to make it work eventually. "I-I don't actually drink coffee, so I don't have any around." She thought for a moment. "I... Well, actually, I have some tea and a few cans of soda, if you're willing to work with those."

Issue: she wants to kill me. Solution: make this woman happy. It was amazing how clear her mind became when her life was on the line.

Nefas looked disappointed at sarahs claim of lack of coffee, but she wanted to try tea also. So she didnt mind too much. She nodded her approval. "I will try tea... and this... Soda." She hadnt really heard of Soda. Her father never told her much of humans and their ways. She had a lot to learn, and luckily for Sarah. She was the one going to teach her.

Nefas took her seat back on the sofa and picked up her book once again. She would wait patiently for her tea and soda. She had no idea on preparation time for these things.

Sarah stood nervously for a moment, wondering if she should say anything else. Then, "Um... In that case, I'll just... go get some..." Her voice steadily lost volume as she spoke, until she finally stepped into the tiny kitchen, closing the door behind her.

Then she collapsed into panic.

There is a demon in my house. There is a demon in my house! THERE. IS. A. DEMON. IN. MY. HOUSE! She slapped herself, stopping the extreme panic at least enough to think through it. Fear was her weakness, but logic was her strength. "Calm down," she told herself. "Breathe deeply." She took deep, slow breaths, forcing herself to keep still and slow, even though the fear was still screaming through her veins. Eventually, her heart rate slowed to a more normal level, and she was able to get back to her feet again.

"Alright." She spoke to herself even as she set her little tea-maker to brew a new batch. "I need options." If this woman really was a demon - and she'd given no evidence to the contrary - then calling the police would be useless. Option A: Attempt to contact a priest. She didn't know much about exorcisms, but priests were supposed to be able to banish evil spirits, right? ...Then again, this woman technically wasn't possessing her, just... sitting on her couch and reading a book. Would that even work? Come to think, would she even be able to contact anyone without alerting Nefas? Alright, discard.

Option B: Try to run. She stopped what she was doing and made a (-_-) face at herself. She was not sporty; she could not run fast. Or very far. Discard.

Option C: Do what she wants and hope I don't get killed for it. ...Unfortunately, that seemed to be her best option at the moment. So, with a sigh, she reached into her mini-fridge and pulled out two small cans of Coca-Cola, then - making every effort to seem calm and collected - she stepped back into her living room.

Yep, she was still there, sitting on the couch and reading her book. "Um... The tea will be ready soon," she said, "but here's a soda for you." She handed her one of the cans, then sat down at her desk chair, turning it to face the demoness. The other Coke, obviously, was for her; right now, she needed one.

Nafas looked up at her as she was handed a can. She gave it a funny look before turning her attention to Sarah. "Okay." She said simply as she acknowledged the tea preparation.

"You have very rapid trains of thought. Logical though. Which is good for you" She said casually as though reading minds was normal. She did a 360 on this can. How was she supposed to get to the liquid inside?! She tapped it. Nothing. There was no twisty top. Hmm. She looked back up at the human sat across from her. "How exactly, am I supposed to get into this?" She asked frowning back down at the can, shaking it. Nothing happened still. Did she have to rip it open? That seemed messy. Surly there was an easier way.

She looked back up at Sarah with a hopeless look on what was usually an emotionless face.

"Trains of...? H-Hey, don't read my mind!" she told her, clutching her head as though it would somehow shield her thoughts from this strange demoness. Under any other circumstances, she would have thought she was going crazy. Heck, who's to say she wasn't crazy? Even so, with what she'd seen so far, she had no reason to believe this woman couldn't read her thoughts. She sighed; all she'd wanted to do today was finish her homework and then read more of her novel, not play hostess and potentially next meal to some crazy demoness who'd just randomly decided to show up in her dorm, of all places.

"Ah, no! Don't shake it!" she cried, holding her hands up to stop her as Nefas started to shake the can. Despite herself, she couldn't help but grin a little bit: a demoness from Hell, and she didn't know how to open a can of soda. It was just... really silly, somehow. "Here," she said, still grinning, "watch what I do." She turned her own can so that Nefas could see the top. "Hold it like this, put your finger here, and then just pull." Sure enough, with a "tssssSSSK!", the can popped open, and Sarah took a quick sip of the fizzy drink. "Try it."

Nefas frowned as she was told not to shake it but watched as the human opened her can. Of course. It was so simple! How did she not see that?! Ugh. She pulled the ring. It sprayed everywhere. All over Nefas and the floor mainly. She was not impressed with this sticky substance covering her. She sat there blinking, looking at the blonde. "What did you do to my soda? Why didnt yours explode?" She asked as she looked down at her can that was dripping droplets of brown liquid onto the floor. Her top was drenched in this weird smelling sticky liquid. She continued to blink at Sarah. Looking betrayed.

Sarah couldn't help it: she tried so hard, but she finally erupted into laughter. "Ahahahahahaha! I-I'm sorry, just... Ahahahaha!" The very idea that the Princess of Hell would suddenly just spill soda all over herself like that was just too funny to help it; she had to laugh. Finally, she started to calm down, though her grin was still ear to ear. "I told you not to shake it," she told her, still a little bit giggly. "It builds up pressure when you shake it like that, and then it explodes like it did." She shook her head and stood up. "Here, you can have the rest of mine. I'll go get you a towel." She was still giggling all the way to the closet.

When they finally got Nefas all toweled off (though she was still a bit sticky), Sarah sat back down in her chair. The laugh had helped with the uncertainty and fear she'd been feeling, so she felt brave enough to ask a question. "If I may, why are you in my room. Not that I object!" she added quickly, holding up her hands. The last thing she needed now was an angry demoness in her living room. "It's just... why mine? There's over 7 billion people on the planet, and I know a lot of them are smarter, richer, or..." She lowered her gaze a little. "...well, prettier than I am. So why'd you end up here?"

Nefas eyed Sarah with an annoyed glare as she laughed at her but was thankful for the towel. Once dry she she took Sarahs drink she offered and took a sip of it. It made her choke and splutter. She had never had fizzy drinks before. It came running out of her nose and everything! Nefas wiped her face on the towel from earlier and put the drink down and slid it away from her like it was some sort of 'demon'.

She looked up at Sarah as she was talking then shrugged. "You got lucky I guess." She said sighing and playing with her sticky hair in disgust. "The portal was random, I just asked it to put me anywhere in your world and ...well.. it did its job." She said annoyed as she remembered falling flat on her face from the ceiling. She noticed that this girl seemed to think she wasnt pretty. Nefas wasnt really a nic,e person or one for comforting another in their time of need... but she didnt like this girls dimmed eyes now. "Also you are very pretty, stop fishing for compliments." She said sighing. She knew that the girl wasnt fishing as she could read her mind, but she didnt want Sarah to think she was 'nice' she was the princess of hell. Not a cherub.

"I am most certainly not fishing for compliments!" she told her, rather loudly and angrily. "I was simply asking a question, thank you very much!" Still angry, she gave a light "humph!" and turned around in her chair, finally pulling out her textbooks and notebook. "Now, if you're going to say, at the very least be quiet. I have things to do." She frowned into her textbook, but her mind was still elsewhere. The princess of Hell had just randomly fallen into her dorm room, and now she was going to stay here? Well, Sarah certainly didn't have the courage to say no. But how was she supposed to live with a demoness? She sighed; she'd figure it out later. She wrestled her wandering mind into submission, and managed to - at least, to some extent - focus on her homework.

Nefas chuckled a little as the blonde got hot headed. She agreed silently to Sarahs request for quiet as she opened up her book and begun reading more. All Nefas did was her her face in this book. It was given to her by her mother who was a great demon priest but sadly Nefas saw very little of her due to her duties in the underworld. So to her, reading this book was like spending time with her mother.

A loud screeching whistle started which made Nefas jump slightly as she was brought back from her own little world in her mind. It sounded almost like a baby banshee. Nefas looked a little confused. Why would Sarah home baby banshees? Of course it was the kettle on the stove that was screaming telling Sarah that the hot water was ready for the tea. However, Nefas had never heard of a kettle before so this had her confused.

Sarah was thankful that the demoness at least respected quiet. Suddenly, a low moan turned into a screeching whistle, and Sarah lifted her head from her work. "Huh? Oh, right! Tea's ready!" She hopped out of her chair and into the tiny kitchen, lifting the kettle from the stove and - when it was ready - pouring the tea into two small cups. They weren't exactly teacups - coffee mugs, really - but they worked. She took them both back out into the main room, where she handed one to Nefas. "Here you go," she offered. She still couldn't help but smile slightly at the idea that she had just casually served the daughter of Satan himself a cup of hot tea, but by this point, she was mostly over the shock of it.

Mostly.
