If no one else is interested in joining as of now, I'll make the roleplay today or tomorrow. The side-plots can come up later on as we roleplay, where there will be character development and drama and the like.

I think I'm going to put an age range of fourteen to eighteen years of age (high school ages) as to keep the characters together and not spaced over the whole area.

Also, I'm planning on making a fake city and using that as our setting.

How does that sound?

Needless to say I'm interested. Also, I have some questions or points to make, so let’s get to building.

Since it looks like this is going to be before the war starts, are our characters from any of the canonical families, as they have the most to gain from the war and would have an extreme interest in participating. Also if they are those few characters would no doubt be groomed for the war. I vote we forget the families entirely as they each come with their own special set of rules or obligations.

Having said that, the war is not a secret, but it is spoken about less than you would think, among the magical community I mean. So how our characters stumble upon this grand event could be a good place to start, as well as us going around acquiring artifacts to summon servants. Since we are in school maybe a field trip to our local museum are in order. On the matter of stumbling, the church has a history of being dicks in this setting, so our local pastor could possibly persuade us to do this for the greater good.

With that, are we going with we are all friends? The very nature of the war is, well, not friendly. Again, the church can be pulling strings, but since this is the nasuverse there is also the possibility of vampires a la Tsukihime. Long term, betrayal can be a thing, but short term there are other things we can fight. The potential for drama is there in troves.

What do you all think?

I was actually discussing the age group with someone else, and I have to agree, the age group I chose is a bit too young. I was thinking we can bump it up to 20+ and no more than 40 or mid-30s.

I like the way you think, but sadly 14-18 doesn't really fit the premise of the RP. ^^

Good to know. Then for a more adult centered plot, if we are going to ally rather than turn this into an arena type RP, a good motivation is that we band together to discover a way to cleanse the grail. To refrain from spoilers, all I am going to say is that there was a sequel to Fate/Stay called Fate/Halow. In short, the grail is complicated and dangerous, something we all should already know, either IC or OCC, you decide. With this most of what I said prior still stands, except the how we know each other or meet for the first time. Maybe we are tasked with this by the Mage's Association or the Church, which leaves room for both Enforcers and Executors.

Hm. Maybe some people work together to cleanse the grail (though I'm not sure how that's going to happen or what you mean by it) or maybe some prevent the others from making a wish that would cause harm to the world or benefit only themselves.

Like I said, I'm rather new to to fandom and might not understand everything off the bat. ^^;

Not a problem. I'm just doing my best not to spoil anything regarding Unlimited Blade Works, (because it is the best path). I'm not clear on how the cleansing of the grail works either, as I did not read Fate/Hallow, but I'm just brainstorming right now. What I do know is that someone did something they shouldn't have, and the grail was corrupted by negative emotions or something. Originally the grail could not summon "evil" heroes, but now it can. Which goes along with the idea that @Constantine had.

Magic has the benefit of being magic, so the how is not so important, or at least we don't have to worry about that for now. If you need clarification on anything in the future just ask me. That doesn't mean that everything needs to be right mind you, I just want to have fun. :)

It would be cool if the grail could summon evil heroes. It'll add an interesting twist. The negativity affecting the grail sounds interesting too, but I don't know how the characters would be able to cleanse it.

Well strictly speaking the grail can already summon 'evil' heroes, provided that the heroes 'evil' in life resulted in a greater good or their legend is distorted by history. They fall under the heading of Anti Heroes. Though with that said not all anti hereoes are evil so...

A corruption of the Grail make it possible to summon 'villains' as opposed to 'heroes'?

Maybe we should get some more insight on the perspective of the other players. :)

Hey, you have interest from me, may be new to the site but got a couple k in posts on others. So, from what I understand, we need to come up with both our servant and Grail chaser. Do we get to choose the class we are? If so I'd like to steak either archer or rider

As to the plot, it could be set around a university to allow for the older ages (everything from fresh outta high school to an older professor) and the group could even be condensed to one class afflicted by the grail's war for whatever reason.

You don't play both, but you can play a Master/Servant. Someone else can play the master or servant for your charries.

That seems like a solid idea.

I'd like it if my master had Lancer. I'm making a Servant too but not sure which one.

That could work, especially if the university has a strong relationship with the Mage's Association. Potential candidates could be group together to make sure that they 'understand' the risks associated with the war and how to minimise the exposure of non mages and collateral damage?

*Grins*

Well if people are stating preferences then I would like to show interest in a Caster servant. Or Assassin. Both are underrated but have high potential.

Mhmm, I'd favor Caster or Archer too, simply because I personally find it a lot easier to think of strong/interesting "heroes" to use for those two classes, than for the others.

Speaking of classes, are we going with the only Hassan as Assassin rule or is a False Assassin possible?

Well I personally like the Hassan I Sabbah but I can see why people would prefer False Assassin's for the sake of originality. Either way it's Twilight's call.

On that note I will assume that we will only be able to use the 7 'original' classes of servant, since some of the others are overpowered in comparison.

A university makes the most sense. I had planned to play the part of an older Master, so I can be some kind of staff easily. On that note, how soon are the servants going to be summoned? If it’s not for a couple dozen posts then everyone should make a non-servant to start with as so everyone can post and set up the setting, unless you don't mind waiting. Also the problem I find is that Fate RPs suffer from one side being favored over the other, ie six people wanting to be servants and two wanting to be masters. Does anyone have a good work around for this?

I'm indifferent on what servants we use, but I do like originality over cannon. Being overpowered would only be a problem if we are going against one another, or bad storytelling. (As no one likes a Mary sue)

The only fair way to distribute Servants and Masters is to say that if you make one you have to make the other, though that can cause a problem if you are not playing as both your master and servant if the other player suddenly drops out.

I agree with what Constantine said, even if it brings up an issue.

And yeah, we'll be using the seven originals. But we'll make our own servants, not Arthur Pendragon or Alexander the Great. OCs only. ^^

Also, I'd prefer if a person doesn't play their own Servant. That can lead to that person accidentally isolating themselves from the rest of the group.

I just need to see what kind of Servant I'm going to pick. I'm going to use a random number generator to pick one. As stated before, I'd like my Master to be with Lancer. ^^

Apparently the generator really wants me to have my Servant be Rider. So Rider it is then? That is if no one minds.

There is just no reason to have an age range. Nobody makes old characters anyways.

I will just be making a Master, if that pleases you.
