Ben gave an awkward wave, then hesitating on what to do. Every culture had a different way of greeting each other... "Hello... Your daughter has been showing me around the island these past couple of days..." he didn't go in to detail. He was pretty sure they would freak out if they found out about all the places she's been and done. "She has been extremely welcoming, and I very much appreciate that... You have a very amazing daughter." He said with a smile, looking at both of them, but they still stood there staring at him.

"We know she is amazing... I believe very strongly that she is the most amazing young woman. Her mother believes that too... And that's why if anything should happen to her, I would be very, very displeased." His voice was a low rumble and Aria shook her head,
"Papa, please..." He held up his hand, cutting off Aria's next words,
"There are many fine young men on this island that were hoping to have the attentions of my daughter this evening, what makes you so special?" The older man asked Ben, his eyes piercing and evaluating the younger man very closely.

Ben looked at him, his heart racing a million miles per hour. When asked the question he thought about it. "Over the past few years, I have traveled the world... I've been everywhere from tribes in the Amazon, to the Alps in Switzerland... And through those years i've gotten to know cultures, and the people that inhabit them... I don't take advantage over anyone or anything..." He said, looking at Aria, then back at her father. "And after spending time with your daughter and this island... I've fallen in love with this island... and your daughter and mine's personality is very much similar..." He said, not breaking eye contact with the father.

"So you think that because you're filling my daughter's head with wild fantasies and ideas you can take her from her home and make her into something she's not?" Caterina interjected, reaching for Aria who pulled away from her mother and held onto Ben,

"Aria, you are a woman in the eyes our culture and in the law," Her father said gently, reaching his hand out to her. Aria let go of Ben to go to her father who pulled her into a tight hug,

"Go enjoy the festival you two. Your Mama and I will be at home by the time you get home." Aria beamed a bright smile at her father before stepping back to Ben.

Ben didn't know what to say when her mother questioned him. He didn't want to say something to make her mad. Luckily, Aria's father stepped in. He whispered something to her, but he figured that it was something good for both of them. He smiled and nodded at her father's words. "Thank you very much sir." He said, taking Aria's hand, and then started to walk off. "So where to now?" Ben asked with a smile, glad to have her hand back in his again.

"The beach," Aria said, smiling up at Ben. She held on to Ben's arm, laying her head on Ben's shoulder as they walked. Knowing that they had her father's blessing to go and be who they were, that they only be careful, it made Aria happy. Her mother was understandably not happy, but she would come around once she realized how much better off Aria would be once she got away from the island for a while... Quite possibly for a long while.
"We can talk, walk, or dance, or anything really. At midnight the couples can kiss..." Blushing, Aria made herself stand upright so that she was only holding Ben's hand,
"Not that we need to kiss... I mean, it's supposed to be symbolic of intent to marry..." Aria's voice trailed off, realizing that she may be scaring Ben away by her rambling.

Benjamin smiled as she rambled, and he laughed. "All of those sound pretty good..." He smiled a bit. "I could teach you how to play the guitar, and we can talk about the places you want to visit, and dance under the stars... and i really wouldn't mind kissing the most beautiful girl on this island..." He said, giving a shy smile. He never said that to a girl before. All his traveling, he has seen many attractive women, but none of them could even compare to half of what Aria was. She was a completely different, interesting, and incredible woman. He was extremely glad that she was holding his hand, and he had her ribbon.

On the way to their spot on the beach, Ben's guitar waited for him. He hoped Aria would have given him her ribbon, but if she didn't he also planned on playing his guitar, it soothed him. As Aria sat down, Ben opened the case. Ben sat down next to her, plucking a few strings into a soft Spanish tune. He gave a smile at her. "Sorry... i learned how to play on my trip to Spain... their style of music gets stuck in my head." He said, plucking a few more strings, moving his fingers effortlessly, although it took many hours playing this fluently. "People say the French are the masters of love... but there is an exception when the Spanish guitar is played... for me, anyway." Ben laughed, realizing he was rambling like an idiot.

Ben raised an eyebrow, giving a smile. "Oh really?" he asked, playing another small Spanish melody. He couldn't help but play some more, looking at her beautiful face. After finishing he laughed, and handed her the guitar. "you'll be a master of the guitar soon enough" Ben said with a smile, "So...." He walked on his knees behind her to see the position of the instrument. "The six strings are... E,A,D,G,B, and E again..." As he said the string names, he pointed to them, taking in the closeness to her.

Benjamin smiled as she played, showing her what string to press, and explaining the note name, and the chords. He found it incredibly cute how she loved to try this. When she messed up, he laughed, not making fun of her, but just because her blushed face was incredibly beautiful. He didn't realize how close the two were until the church bell rang. Their faces were so close, and when she said those words, he knew the tradition was here... He looked in to her eyes, mesmerized by her. Ben slowly put his hand on to her cheek, running his thumb gently across it. He then leaned in, and their lips touched.

As he kissed her, Aria's eyes closed and she was enveloped in sweet bliss. Ben's lips were gentle and searching, caressing hers and sending fire through her veins. She wanted the kiss to never end, but Aria was startled back to herself as fireworks went off above them. Looking up, Aria smiled,

Benjamin laughed and looked up at the sky, putting an arm around Aria as she snuggled in. He couldn't help but give a quick kiss to her forehead before looking up again. He was beyond happy. He couldn't wait to spend time with Aria, more on the island, and even more traveling the world. He hasn't even touched the eastern part of the world. Greece, Mongolia, China, Russia. All were ancient civilizations. He wondered if those things fascinated Aria just as much as him... He knew she craved some sort of adventure... and he was really glad. He wasn't sure if he could leave this island without her.

They stayed there on the beach for a while longer until a cool breeze began blowing in from the ocean. Aria couldn't help the shivers that started making her shake under Ben's arm. Her thin sundress did nothing to block the sea breeze and the other couples were starting their own ways back to the town, but Aria wasn't quite ready to go back. Wrapping her arms around herself, Aria looked out over the ocean, her soft eyes narrowed with hard concentration. What if all of this was a dream, or Benjamin wasn't who he said he was and she would wake up in the morning alone and humiliated? Biting her lip, Aria pushed her long hair back, letting her hand rest on her head.

Aria clearly was in deep thought. She stared at the ocean for some sort of answer to whatever she was questioning... He gently put an arm around her shoulders, leading her closer to his side. "Is everything alright, Aria?" He asked, concerned how her emotion suddenly dropped. Was it something he did? He then reached for his guitar, and started to play softly another Spanish tune, moving his body to the beat, to try and get her attention. Once he did he stopped, stood up, helping her up as well, and started to pick up the pace of it, dancing and playing, laughing. He tried to make her happy again, to show her something that he couldn't really put in words at times. The music was free, and uplifting, and happy, and full of interesting and wonderful melodies, hopefully just like their future adventure together. He knew that they just met, but he can't leave her behind. He's fallen too deep for her.

She tried to be joyful again, but the smiles were hard to keep on her face until finally Aria placed her hands over Ben's and she took the guitar from him, placing it gently down. Taking hold of his hands again, Aria brought them up to her lips and kissed Ben's knuckles gently,
"What if something goes wrong? What if when we leave here we hate one another? What about if we go somewhere else and you find another more beautiful girl who you like more? I have so many questions..." Pressing Ben's hands to her cheek, Aria sighed and looked down from Ben's wonderful face,

Benjamin listened to her words, understanding her thoughts. He thought of them himself at times... but he knew that there was something about her that he couldn't just give up. "I know its going to be different... but this is a time to take that first leap..." He let out a small smile. "It will give us a chance to live, and be connected, and get to know each other... I have been traveling this planet for years now, and i can easily and honestly say that you are the most beautiful woman i have, and will ever meet in my life... I know its a risk... but i guarantee you that i will do my best to be your protector, and guide to this world..." He said softly, looking in to her eyes. He had no intention of hurting her, or hating her. He wanted to share the fascination of the world with someone else.
