Anna woke up instantly at Adrian's sudden screaming, brushing past Enzo as she picked up their son from his cot. His diaper was entirely dry, so that wasn't the problem. "What's the matter, little Adrian?" she crooned, bouncing the child lightly in her arms.
"Bad dweam." He mumbled. "Scaweded me." He burst into tears, his little arms wrapping around her neck.
Anna sighed tiredly and kissed his forehead. "You can sleep with Mama and Papa tonight, then, okay?"
"Otay!" He said quite enthusiastically, giggling a little. He kissed her cheek, transferring some of his baby tears onto her face.
As she carried their son back to the bed, she said softly to Enzo, "I'm sorry. You know you didn't have to get out of bed. You have work tomorrow, anyway."
