Ok, I'm going to be upfront, I upload pirated comics to Imgur, but that's not what's important. I got a pm this morning, usually it's people wanting to thank me for posting, but this one was different. The guy starts pouring his heart out about how he had depression and how a certain title that I was uploading was the only thing that basically stopped him from cutting and having suicidal thoughts, he eventually ends the message by thanking me for reminding him about how he got through it all.

I'm terrible with responding to messages like this and I honestly don't know how to reply and I don't just want to ignore it because that's just really dickish. Am I a dick for posting this on here?

It's pretty hard to go wrong in this situation so long as you're not flippant. Gratefulness is normally the best way to respond to gratefulness, so maybe thank them and say you do it to share them and you're always glad to be appreciated. Adjust the strength of this sentiment based upon the degree of its truthfulness. Chance is you're probably happy to leave it at that, but if you're concerned and want to engage them further make sure they're aware of this otherwise it'll just end there.

Guy from destiny?

I can't believe I missed that if it's anything like this.

It was this guy who kept following me around on Destiny for some reason and I didn't mind. Eventually they added me and I accepted because I only kept my friends list to irl friends. I left The Tower after doing some errands and was about to turn it off, and just when my finger was hovering over the off button, the guy joined my fireteam. Out of fear, I quickly turned it off and felt really bad...

Just try to be friendly and nice about it.
That's about the best thing you can do for someone feeling such a way.

Well, for someone feeling such a way that you barely know.
