It was Roisin's first day of her new school. She was nervous as hell. Making her way up through the school steps to the doors she took a deep breath and somehow managed to convince herself that everything was going to be okay, she would be fine. She made her way through the doors to her new school and looked down at a letter she held in her hands, hands that were getting sweatier by the second as her nerves managed to wriggle their way to the surface once again.

It told her to go to a reception desk to collect her timetable and a few other welcome gifts. Roisin looked around herself and spotted the desk and made her way over. "'Scuse me, I'm supposed to come here to collect mi timetable?" She said calmly, her thick Irish accent made the young man behind the reception desk smile. He handed her her items as well as a map of the school and she signed for them thanking him. He gave her a small welcome speech and directed her where to go from there to her first class. He also marked on her map where all her specific classes were. She thanked him once again and made her way into the crowds of people that turned to stare at the fresh meat walking down the halls.

Roisin eventually found her class. Art. Perfect. She was rather an artsy person. She like to focus a lot on her Celtic heritage in her works. She walked into the class room. It was early, almost fifteen minutes early, but she didnt want to be late for her first day and she figured she would probably get lost or something. She looked around the classroom. It was rather different to that of the ones at home. It looked better equipped. She smiled thinking she was going to enjoy this class.

"I really don't think I'm going to be keeping this for long" Leon said, rubbing the rough patch of hair growing on his face while looking at a mirror in the teachers lounge. For no reason other than to try something different Leon decided to grow out his facial hair, but kept it trimmed down to a barely noticeable length. He could feel it though. It got a chuckle out of one of his co-workers who were also stalling before going to their first class.

"I thought facial hair was the true mark of a starving artist Mr. Alvenson." Mrs. Wagner, the History teacher, pointed out jokingly. This caused Leon to gesture down to his less than perfect attire: shirt untucked, unmatched socks, almost naturally messy hair. "Nope, this outfit is."

With that Leon grabbed his briefcase and saluted to the other teachers as the left the lounge. Taking the long route through the school to his classroom, which was arranged as a giant, three-floored square, Leon did a lap around each floor. He found the best way to see which kids would be tardy was to just walk past them in the hallways and give them a look. Granted, he would end up being nearly fifteen minutes late, but worse things could happen. He had already been into the classroom beforehand and aligned the clock on the wall with his cellphone. Waiting until the last second before the fifteen minutes were up Leon walked into the door to see a few rows of students with a few of them staring up at the clock or at their phones. When he walked in many of them looked at him like he took away their favorite treat.

Pointing at the clock Leon put an inquisitive expression on. "Did... did you hope you were going to be able to cut out early? Tch, tough break. Looks like you'll have to sit through another borrring 'introduction to the new year'shtick. Shall we all sigh in unison? One, two, three!" he said, conducting with his hands, then letting out a big sigh. This got a few laughs, which was all that Leon was hoping for. "Hm, I guess a couple of you are starting off this year with a cheerful disposition. Alright, down to the tacks of brass."

Turning to the whiteout board behind him Leon wrote down 'Mr. Leon Alvenson'. At least, that's what he knew it to say. His handwriting made it a little more of a puzzle. "For those of you who can't read my terrible writing, my name is Mr. Leon Alvenson. I'll be your General Arts teacher this year, plus your teacher for any specified art classes you may be taking as well, whether it be photography, painting, or graphic design." He began to walk around the class handing out forms, making eye contact with each student as he did. "These are the usual papers you are used to getting: the items you'll need, how often we'll be doing projects, and all the rest. The final page has my contact information, including my work email and work cell phone. You can text or call it whenever you have questions. Speaking of, any questions so far?" he asked, returning to the front of the room, looking to the class for a response.

Roisin rolled her eyes as the teacher finally came in. Finally.

She made serious eye contact with the teacher as he passed her papers over to her. She wasnt going to shy away like she saw some of the others do or laugh, she took art seriously. As he moved on to another student who awkwardly shrank back in his seat at the teachers gaze she scanned over the papers. Was rather strange for this kind of contact info to be given out. At her school teachers werent allowed students numbers or vice versa. Which always made things difficult when you needed to ask questions and they never replied to their emails either. So getting in contact with teachers outside of school was impossible, unless you knew where they lived... But if students knew that the would just abuse their houses with eggs or stones... one time a student dug up a teachers garden... Suffice to say, students werent allowed to know anything about teachers.

As she finished looking over the papers and he asked if there were questions she looked around the room, none. She didnt really have any questions either considering he was very thorough with the information given on the sheets. Then it occurred to her. She raised her hand. "I have a question Sir." She started, her thick Irish accent making heads turn in the class room. Apparently there werent many Irish people in this school. "Will you always be late? Because if ya are, I'd like to know, we have to be on time so, so should you." She said simply which was greeted with an applause and laughter from some of the other students. Roisin smiled and laughed a little herself.

Leon's ears perked up when one of his students began to speak with a thick accent. Well that was a surprise. Her question was also a surprise. With a grin he looked through his roster and found the not at the bottom with an additional name. "Dia duit Roisin! Cad greann iontach! Go raibh agat as do cheist. I will not be late every class. I just like giving the ones who a raring to leave a quick glimmer of hope before tearing it from them." Leon said, dramatically acting out a pulling a heart from someones chest. He then laughed and pointed at Roisin. "Well, we sadly have to continue our normal routine for today, but since you were the first to ask a question you get a small prize: you get to choose our first medium to work with."

Gesturing over to all the different posters that hung on the wall, covered with various stains and markings, he continued to speak. "So, what would you like us to start working with after the introductions Roisin?"

Roisin raised a brow at this quirky teacher. "You're a bit weird Sir, but I think you're alright" So far she liked him, he seemed cool. She looked around the classroom at the posters then looked back at Leon. "Do ya not use clay? Like as in Pottery? I don see any clay pieces." She asked looking disappointed. Her favourite thing to do was ceramics. "I seen it in American movies, so I know you guys do pottery. Because films are always right" She said that last bit with a sarcastic tone. Which gave the class a few more giggles, which she happily smiled to once again.
