the android, {JAMBORII}
artificial intelligence//six years//male

anatomy
Jamborii is, first of all, completely synthetic. If this isn't obvious at first glance, it
becomes obvious when he moves--rather rigidly, and unnatural. It's hard to miss, anyways; his hair, eyes, and nails are made of luminescent fiberglass, and give off a faint white glow. His metal endoskeleton shows through his skin when he takes off his shirt. He
clicks whenever he moves. Technically, Rii's only six years old, and he's switched bodies before. The current one he's in he's only had for a little over a year, yet it's designed to look something like a teenager, if not ageless. You decide if he's six, one, or seventeen. It's all beyond him.
The android extension that he's currently using bears a disturbing resemblance to his creator. Those luminescent white eyes have the same almond shape as Nguyen's, despite a slightly more rigid brow, and he has her nose and lips. If you'd ask anyone who'd managed to never meet an AI before, they might think that Jamborii is Nguyen's son, if it weren't for her
insistent objection that he wasn't designed to look like that
Jamborii's olive skin is silicone and leather, and for the most part feels like the real deal. His endoskeleton is steel and he can support up to five tons before becoming damaged, with ball-point joints cushioned by rubber.
His "brain" is in multiple chips located in a locked panel on his back, where there is also a reset button and another secret panel. If someone knew where to look and how to accomplish it, resetting Jamborii would result in significant memory loss and more malfunctioning than usual--another shortcoming of his.
Jamborii has been buggy since his creation, and Nguyen claims he's "barely functional in comparison to what he should be".
mentality
Jamborii is a rather quiet, polite individual, who rarely reveals anything about himself. In fact, it's doubtful that there's anything
to reveal--for the most part, he's very straightforward: he powers on, does what's required of him, entertains himself, goes back to sleep. Any variations in that basic schedule he'd like to be informed of in advance.
Jamborii
adores plant life and botany, for some inane reason.
Well...Jamborii
is slightly malfunctional...and by slightly, it's meant that he's one of Nguyen's most obvious failures for multiple reasons. While the exact reason she created him is unknown, it's evident that she had been trying to make him as human as possible, and only half succeeded. Jamborii's faults, some results of his bugs and some not, are as listed below:
1.) As far as anyone can tell, he experiences genuine emotions, but doesn't know how to express them properly. When he's happy, he stares; when he's sad, he stares; when he's angry, he lays down on the ground and watches the dust fly around the room. If he's perfectly fine with the situation at hand, he gives a thin-lipped smile and says what would make a biological entity most comfortable--despite not knowing what he's talking about, usually. This results in interesting conversations such as, "does a dog require 2 feedings of 30 pounds, or 30 feedings of 2 pounds?" and "I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I recommend Sophocles'
Oedipus the King". More interestingly, when confused or conflicted about something, the android reacts self-destructively. The nature of his confusion makes for good small-talk when repairing him, if one can manage not to trigger another bout of frustrated destruction.
2.) He exists in a constant state of haziness, and he processes things slowly. It's constantly as if the AI's floating along the coast of humanity, nearly there and yet, a wall of thick mist in his way. He forcibly remembers things he's never done, seemingly from whatever life he'd lived before, as a human being. He has moments of clarity, occasionally, where he realizes that he's an AI that's nearly a human being, and it terrifies him. It's seems as if his dimwittedness is a defense mechanism.
3.) He envies human beings with a certain bitterness. "It's their tears," he says. "they can cry, and I can't. Do you think I cry--ever? Am I disallowed that?" Superficially, he loves them. Genuinely, he isn't sure. He certainly wishes to be one.
4.) He requires constant maintenance. Without it, he become uncharacteristically cruel--even murderous. Nguyen's not exactly sure why, but it bears a strange resemblance to Alzheimer's, where the individual forgets who and where they are.
