So I have been thinking about a role play to do and many thoughts have crossed my mind. To be honest my very first role play that I ever made was a zombie role play and I have had that itch now for a time. Only problem is the whole zombie role play thing is bit over used now and days unlike when I first began my role playing experience. So I got to thinking about another angle that I could possibly take zombies.

My first initial thought on this is that 4 people (the ideal limit for this role play at best) four normal people who live normal lives, go to sleep one night and then wake up somewhere else, in a completely different place, ideally a bare plain room with no windows, nothing really but a square white room. An you know they go through that wtf where am I stage and then eventually find their way outside, where yep you could have guessed it... where there are zombies and a hell torn world. Now the kicker is in this role play is yes it will involve zombies, but it will also involve trying to find out why and how your character went to sleep in a peaceful world and ended up in an apocalyptic hell. My character unlike your would be one of the survivors of this initial apocalypse in this scenario so they would be versed already in surviving this hell. This would be because well, lets be honest if you suddenly thrown into hell your not just gonna survive without a little help. So my character would basically meet up with you and then we have a conversation about how you all got here blah blah blah and he would agree to try and help you survive long enough to find out how the hell you got here... that is if you can.

Would it be possible for me to create a character that *god forbid* has actually read books and watched movies about various zombie apocalypses, and therefor is able to recognize the threat to be what it is? Or is that against the unspoken rule of the zombie apocalypse genre?

This takes place in modern times, so you are more then welcome to have a character who has read up on zombies watched the movies etc etc. Even my guy will have watched a zombie movie or two haha. It truly won't take you all long to find out whats going on either way. However in the RP I am going in a different direction involving the zombies, make them different from your average zombie in respects, again I want to get away from the cliche that zombie rps have become now an days.

Just cause one knows a lot about movie zombies doesn't really change that they'd probably shit themselves the first time an actual walking corpse came at them.

True very true. One can live and breath zombies their whole life, hell even have scenarios where they are facing zombies the whole nine yards. That however does not prepared you for first encounters with an actual one. I am one such person to be honest and heaven forbid it ever happens, my first encounter with a real zombie probably won't be uber brave xD. Specially if were talking 28 days later variety, hell to the no.

I'm making a nerd character who knows a lot of tips for survival, but wets himself anytime he actually comes face to face with the undead.

While I am still concious I wanted to put down my thoughts for the zombies that will be taking place in this role play. Now having watched almost every popular zombie flick and probably some rather unpopular ones... zombie strippers and zombie cheerleaders comes to mind... anyways I was thinking that the zombies in this role play will have elements from many different genres of zombies. For example each zombie type would be a representation of the person before they were turned so in lamen terms

Zombie A we can call it a shambler for now, in life this zombie was an 70 year old man, so in death the zombie is slow and weak.

Zombie B in life was a fat overweight middle aged male, so in death that zombie would have perhaps a slow to semi slow speed, but would be stronger then the shambler.

Zombie C in life was a fit person who ran everyday, so in death this zombie is fast when it runs.

This is kind of what I am going for in respects, obviously seeming there are all kinds of people from all kinds of walks of life this would lead to a lot of different zombies. However based on their general appearance it wouldn't be too hard to guess their ability. It would keep a hint of surprise going in the role play not know exactly what that particular zombie is capable of.

This is just my thoughts on it, I am more then open to some suggestions.

One suggestion, is if you haven't already come up with it there should be some interesting reason why we were put in these rooms. Potential immunity, perhaps? Scientists experimenting on us? Potentially having to choose between our own lives and the possibility of a cure, ect. Assuming of course this operates on the "zombie bites cause infection" design.

Not to worry I already have that all planned out. As a matter a fact just to throw in a hint you won't have to worry much about being bitten, plenty of other problems that will be presented.

Yeah I meant to do it by now, been dealing with a couple other issues as of late so time has been rather short. Soon as I finish the intro we will be set to go shouldn't be long.
