Bio:Aeryβs family was fairly active in Gemminite politics and gave their children (nine sons and nine daughters, with Aery being the youngest) thorough educations in politics. Aery absorbed much of that education, though her passion lay in the sciences and in medicine. Pure and simple science. Along with the education her parents instilled in her a deep fear of the Drakkens, though also a grudging respect as is necessary when dealing with someone far more powerful.
When the guards came to their house, her mother and older sisters wept. Aery herself was too shocked to weep. She thought to run, calling the wind to boost her out of an open window, but the guards were expecting it. One of them held a knife to one of her sistersβ throats, telling Aery that if she so much as tried to run, all her family would die. So Aery went like a docile lamb, reciting chemical formulas to herself to keep herself calm lest she panic and try to flee. For the good of the realm, for the sake of her family, sheβd do this, armed with only her wits and the wind.
