Such a bothersome thing, moving. You have to pack up everything, get into loads of cars and moving vans, leave all your friends and family behind to start a new life.
Well, that wasn't Micheal's case.
Micheal didn't have any friends or family besides his aunt, and even if he had he wouldn't have remembered them, up until a year ago he had no memories of his life. No memories of birthday parties or first kisses, no memories of the family and friends he supposedly had at one point. He tried to feel sad about not remembering sometimes, but honestly it made him feel more irritated than anything else.
As watched the world passing by him in the car window, listening his aunts quiet breaths as she drove, he wondered what he used to be like, who he used to be, did he like video games? Did he like to read? What was his favorite season and who was his best friend?
He could have asked these questions of his aunt but she usually just got choked up and started crying as she spoke whenever he asked about his life, so he decided to stop after a while, hating to see her tears.
Closing his eyes, he wondered how his life would be in this town.

He must have fallen asleep because when he opened his eyes they felt heavy, and he saw the distant lights of a town ahead.
"M-May, where are we?" He asked sleepily, his usually neatly combed back hair in a tangled mess from sleep.
"Nearly twenty minutes away from our new house, just go back to sleep."
And he did.

When he woke up he assumed it had been much longer than twenty minutes because while it had been midday when he had last fallen asleep the sun was now setting, and the moving truck that had been following them was now gone. He reached for his buckle but found it already undone, so he climbed out of the car and walked into the house he had only seen in a picture online.
He walked in unsure of his motions but he heard the usual music his aunt May played while she was cooking dinner.
He only stopped to say hello to her before asking where his room was, questioning how long he was asleep, and then heading to said room in the upstairs area.

He walked in to find his suitcases had already been brought up and his bed was already set and made, sighing sadly he crossed to the window and opened it, peering into the room of the house next to his which seemed to belong to a young girl.

Cassy stared at the questionnaire in front of her. She'd been reading the first sentence over and over without even learning what it was talking about. Just the title made her mind numb.

"Hypothetical Baptist's Nanny"

Cassy's parents demanded she fill this out before she could even think of using her computer. She scanned the paper and almost burst out laughing. Cassy wondered if her parents were in denial or just crazy thinking she'd take this seriously. She straight up told them two years ago she was agnostic, yet she gets dragged to church every Sunday since. The questionnaire starts, "YOU are a born-in, baptized Christian female, early 20s. You are employed as a full-time nanny for a Atheist married couple of business executives who have a preschool-age child."

As if she'd be a nanny in the first place, Cassy never got along with kids. She read on, the first few questions included, "1) Is your first responsibility to God and his earthly organization, or to your "worldly" employers? 2) Would you expose the child to "My Book of Bible Stories" or other Christian indoctrination? With/without seeking the parents' permission/input?"

Cassy pondered the idea of giving really hilarious and offensive answers, but remembered that her dad was going to look it over and probably take her precious laptop away (the only connection she had to the sane world outside.) So she decided to go the complete other direction, she was going to give the most brainwashed and indoctrinated answers possible. Cassy enjoyed staining her mind trying to find the creepiest answers that a zealot would like. After only a few minutes, she proudly looked over her answers. It was poetry, she actually produced a cackle when reading some of her answers. She dashed downstairs to her fathers study. Her dad was pouring over his notes and charts form work.

She proudly handed the questionnaire over to him, "Finished!"

Her father smiled, "Well, good for you"

He removed his glasses and peered down at Cassy's answers, his smile began to melt away. He didn't look up for quite some time. Cassy had the feeling she might have over done it. Her dad looked up at her, "You are willing to kill an abortion doctor?"

Cassy fought back the urge to laugh, she made a very serious face, "They kill babies all the time, so it's only fair."

Her father started at her with disappointed eyes, before he opened up his briefcase and produced another copy of the questionnaire. He handed it to Cassy and turned back to his work.

"Take this more seriously," he sighed, "and maybe I'll let you have your laptop next week."

Those words punched Cassy in the gut. Another week without her laptop!? She slowly trudged upstairs, feeling like the whole world had jumped on her back. She wouldn't be able to talk to rational people for a another week, maybe more. She didn't want to think about it. She crashed face first into her bed sending her two stuffed animals flying off. She didn't care. Her life was terrible. Well, she did live quite comfortably compared to some girls her age in other countries, but she still felt that didn't mean her parents were good. Her red hair fell in her face as she turned her head. She'd give anything for a family that just let her be herself. The sound of a truck stopping nearby made her look up.

Cassy turned over and sat up to see moving trucks in front of the house next door. Lots of boxes were sitting on the lawn until big mover guys took them inside. Cassy stuck her head out of her window to get a better view of the situation. She saw a woman giving instructions to the big guys as they carried her stuff in. Cassy figured her mom was going to send over a pie or some other desert to welcome the new neighbors. There was a dark looking boy looking at her from the opposite window. Cassy fell backwards on her ass being freaked out that someone was watching her. She carefully inched out of sight to another window and tried to peak at the boy without being seen.

Micheal watched the redheaded girl who stuck her head out the window, not noticing him at first, but once she did fell down and then crawled off, either to inform someone he had been watching her, or going somewhere else, maybe to watch him as well.

From what Micheal had seen she was a redhead and was wearing casual clothing, she had looked rather disgruntled before noticing him so he guessed something must have upset her, he wondered what it had been.
He decided he should do one of two things, apologize or just go away.
Not being the best at apologizing he decided to just step away from his window, a faint blush on his cheeks.
He couldn't decide what to do, should he seek her out and try and make friends? Should he close his window and go downstairs? Sh- Before he could finish the thought he heard his aunt calling him downstairs.
"Micheal! Micheal! Get down here!"
Micheal stood up completely and brushed back his hair, grabbing a comb out of his bag he combed through it quickly so it was its silky straight self again and then walked downstairs, straightening his loose tie that he had decided to wear today.

Walking downstairs he kept his arms crossed around his chest like he usually did when he was thinking.
"Yes, May?" He questioned, he had a polite yet sharp voice, soothing and articulate. If he said that he didn't talk to himself just because he liked the sound of his voice he would be lying.
"This is our neighbor, they came over to welcome us."
'that was quick, they must have been planning this since they saw the 'for sale sign' go away' Micheal thought, he put on a small polite smile and nodded at the woman who was in their doorway. He wondered if this was the mother of the girl who he had accidentally been spying on.

A few moments later the woman had left, leaving them with a batch of brownies she had home made.
"Wasn't that sweet of her to bake us these?"
"Yes...I suppose so."
May looked at him sadly.
"You sound like you're over-thinking again darling, why don't you get something to eat and-"
"I'm not hungry, thank you."
"You haven't ate in a da-"
"May, I'll eat when I'm hungry, okay?" Micheal stated, sounding slightly impatient with his motherly aunt, yet when she saw she had a hurt look in her eyes he sighed and walked over; wrapping his arms around her.
"I'm fine aunty, I'm just not hungry, too anxious, I'll eat in a bit, is that fine?"
She smiled softly and nodded, kissing him in the head.
"I'm just looking out for you dear."
"I know, May."

May convinced him to take a plate of food upstairs in case he did get hungry, walking upstairs he held the plate of white-meat chicken and fried rice with a small brownie on the side of the plate.
The girl with red hair had been completely erased from his mind until he stepped into his doorway and saw his open window.
He walked over to it and sat down, deciding this was a good a place to eat as any.
He was also half hoping at getting a chance to talk to the redheaded girl.

Cassy peered through her curtains at the boy across from her. He had dark messy hair that brought to mind a character from a book she read. His hair was much longer than a lot of the guys around town wore it. The boy look slender, like he didn't do much sports. His pale skin seemed to back up her theory. He also was sporting a pair of brainy looking specs. The boy seemed to make an effort to look for her, until something drew his attention away from the window and he vanished.

Cassy blew a sigh of relief. She never had to worry about people watching from the house next door since the people that used to live there was an elderly couple that never used that room. Cassy was so used to having her privacy, she often left her windows wide open, especially during hot summers like now. She quickly closed the windows and drew the blinds. Just before she closed the last window, she saw her mother walking up to the house next door carrying some welcome desert no doubt.

"That was...fast." She muttered to herself, raising an eyebrow.

She didn't even know her mother had whipped something up. Cassy suddenly noticed how hot it was in her room once the windows were closed. She pulled her frumpy shirt up to her face, wiping some of the sweat off. She tugged on her shirt to get some air against her body. Even though it wasn't that late, Cassy couldn't think of anything to do except get some shut eye. She picked up her stuffed animals and pulled them under the covers as she climbed into bed. She stared at the ceiling, hoping maybe the new boy next door was actually normal and not crazy.
"Cassandra!" Anais called in an overly sweet tone.

Cassy opened her eyes to see the morning had come, but instead of bring any sort of happiness it brought Anais. The door flew open and there stood her perfect sister. She had on a violet dress that was for her choir performance that was coming up. Her hair was just as red as Cassy's but it was much longer and curly. Not to mention she was using a ton of products to make it shine and bounce. She was smiling until she looked at Cassy crawling out of bed.

"Oh my land!" She exclaimed in her annoying soft voice. "Your not going to meet our new neighbors looking like...that?!"

Cassy looked down at herself. She was sporting one of her favorite t-shirts and her trusty jeans.

"It's called casual Anais," Cassy shrugged, "some people dig it."

"Mom wants us to make a good impression," Anais huffed, "and give a proper welcome to the neighborhood."

Anais turned and called back, "Please wear something nice, I'll be waiting downstairs."

Cassy gave a long and frustrated sigh as she pulled her shirt off. She threw open her dresser and looked for something that would make a good impression. She decided on the sparkly 'puppy playing basketball' orange shirt. She always loved that one, why not the new neighbors? She quickly applied some deodorant and put on her eyeliner. She looked at herself in the mirror and gave a thumbs up.

"Nailed it!"

Cassy found her sister waiting for her and the front door. Anais gave an over dramatic look of disapproval at her choice of clothing. Cassy was loving it.

"Ready!" she beamed.

Anais and Cassy walked up to the front door of the new neighbors house. Anais heels clicked loudly the whole way over. It always bugged her how she insisted on wearing heels, even to stupid small events like meeting the new neighbors. Anais knocked on the door and put on her best "welcome to the neighborhood!" face. A middle aged woman answered and Anais flew into her spiel about how wonderful it was to meet her. Cassy only gave a friendly smile, since her sister liked to talk to adults. After a while Cassy just wanted to go. She didn't want to bother these people, she just wanted to go back to her room. As her sister droned on and on Cassy became visibly bored and uncomfortable.

After sitting in the window for ten minutes, food untouched besides for the smalls picks off of the brownie he had decided to snack on, Micheal decided to go take a shower. Pulling off his shirt he walked across the hall in just his pants and got in the shower, deciding to have a cold shower rather than a hot one.
He wasn't used to the heat of the summer, even with his memory gone his body wasn't used to all this heat. He used to live in Alaska where snowing in the summer was not unusual, as he set his glasses on the table near the sink and stepped in he shivered at the cold water but then soon grew used to it, he washed his black hair and cleaned himself, after a while he just stood in the cold water, his eyes closed.

He stepped out of the shower when he felt his fingers turning into the texture of raisins, he wrapped a towel around himself and put on his glasses, walking to his bedroom and then getting dressed.
Too hot to put on a shirt, instead, Micheal just pulled on some boxers and laid on top of his covers, uncomfortable in all this heat. But soon it made him drift into unconsciousness and he slept without dreams.
"Micheal! Micheal! It's time to wake up sweetheart!" May knocked on his door several times, he felt so groggy and out of place on the bed, this damn jet-lag was messing up his motions.
"Micheal, get up, the neighbors are coming over today!"
'The neighbors?' He opened it eyes and sighed "Which neighbors?"
"The one's right across from us."
"Alright...I'm up." He muttered sleepily before burying his head back into the pillow.

He groaned loudly as he sat up, brushing his hair out of his face he grabbed his glasses and put them on, blinking tiredly and then getting up completely.
He walked to his suitcase which he hadn't unpacked yet and got dressed, a white button up shirt with a black vest, a black tie, and dark blue jeans. It was his favorite outfit and he wanted to make an 'okay' first impression, so he decided to wear this, maybe the neighbors would like it as well, not like he cared about what they thought, but he didn't want them to hate him right off that bat.

As he walked downstairs, his messy black hair having been slicked down with product so it didn't look too bad, he spotted two girls already in the living room with his aunt, she must have invited them in already.
They looked to be twins, one extremely loud and girlish, the other looking uncomfortable and boyish. The loud ones voice almost wanted to make him yell to shut up but he fought the instinct and instead walked over to the boyish one. It took him a few seconds before he realized this was the girl who he had been not-so spying on.
This just furthered his interest in her.

He walked over to them but before he could get away with talking to just the short haired redhead his aunt had spotted him "Oh! Micheal, dear, these are the neighbors girls, they are so charming."
Charming? The girlish one, perhaps but the boyish one looked just like she wanted to leave already.
Micheal said nothing instead of voicing his opinion, he didn't want his aunt to get angry at him.

"You seem to be busy talking to-."
"This is Anais." His aunt introduced her for him.
"-Anais. So, why don't I talk to her sister, wouldn't want her to see left out, eh?" He questioned, a small charming directed at his aunt. She grinned at him and nodded, "so polite."

Micheal looked at the short haired redhead and nodded once, "so, would you like to join me outside?" He asked, dying to get out of this place so he could drop the suave polite boy act that he only upheld for his aunt.

Cassy felt a pit in her stomach grow as May led them inside the house. She sat down next to Anais and rested her chin on her hand.

"You girls need anything?" May asked excitedly.

"Uh-"

"We'd love to have some of that tea you mentioned earlier Ma'am!" Anais chimed in before Cassy could finish.

"Oh of course!" May beamed, "I'll just have Micaheal bring some-"

May frowned at looked around, "Oh dear, I think he's still asleep. Don't move, I'll get him."

May disappeared upstairs leaving Cassy and Anais to themselves. Cassy gave up on trying to leave since it would be rude beyond measure if she left in the middle of being invited into someones home. She was actually more worried about having to drink tea, she never liked it much.

"May mentioned she had a nephew about our age," Anais mused.

"So?"

"Sooooo," Anais gave a playful smile, "this may yet be the handsome prince that will...tame the shrew."

"Excuse me?!" Cassy hissed back.

"Well it's a well known fact that you certainly haven't made any effort in finding mister right."

Cassy rolled her eyes, "Yeah, high school is the place to find a stable relationship."

"You never know," Anais teased, "what if he's cute, hm?"

"I saw him already." Cassy casually dropped.

"Really?! Well, what was he like?"

"Oh he's ok," Cassy gave an evil grin, "except he's a massive pervert."

"HE IS NOT!" Anais folded her arms and turned away not even wanting to look at her sister.

"It's true," Cassy giggled, "he totally was watching me change last night."

"Stop lying Cassandra! May assured me he was a gentleman."

"In fact," Cassy was on the verge of laughing, "I kind of enjoyed it. I even put on a show for him."

Anais shoved Cassy, "UHG! Don't be such a disgusting freak!"

Cassy and Ansis were almost ready to brawl when May came back down. Both girls sat up and smiled like nothing happened. Anais launched into another round of adult conversation with May and Cassy slowly sunk into bored stupor. A few minutes passed when the dark boy came down the stairs. He was quite different looking up close. Instead of it being messy, his hair looked more cleaned up. He wore a black vest that Cassy couldn't help but admire. She suddenly felt very self conscious when she saw him recognize her.

“Oh! Micheal,” May smiled and gestured toward Cassy and Anais. “Dear, these are the neighbors girls, they are so charming.”

Cassy gave a forced smile, she was about to say hello when he mumbled, “You seem to be busy talking to-”

“Anais,” May informed him.

“-Anais,” he nodded, “so why don't I talk to her sister.”

Cassy felt a chill run down her spine. What did he want with her? She unconsciously got up and followed him. He looked like he was putting on his own cordial act which made her feel a little more at ease. He led her to the front porch. Once out side Cassy suddenly felt much better, like she'd been holding her breath the whole time she was inside the house. She leaned against a wooden pillar painted white. She saw stepping outside seemed to relax the dark boy as well.

“Soooo,” Cassy brushed some of her hair behind her ear. “You're new around here huh?”

Once Micheal had left the house he felt 500% more at ease, and judging by how the redhead next to him seemed to be breathing once again he assumed she was more at ease as well, yet she still dragged on her words, either this was a habit or she didn't know what to say.
"Yeah," he said, 'yeah', a much more calming word that yes. When he was in the company of his aunt he tried to be as proper as he could possibly be, when he had first come to live with her he had acted very childish; mostly because he was still trying to regain normal conversation skills- And that seemed to make his aunt very upset, like that wasn't how he used to be, and acting so different upset her he assumed.
It was so annoying to have to act like some proper gentlemen whenever he was with his aunt, he didn't want her to be upset, usually he wouldn't care- but she had taken him in when there was no one else. So, he felt indebted to her.

He wondered if he should add on where he had moved from, deciding that he probably should end the awkward silence he did, "I lived in Alaska with my parents before this." That was enough information he thought, knowing too much about him so early would probably freak her out, he didn't think people usually would blurt out 'I live with my aunt now because my parents are dead and I have amnesia so no one else wanted to take care of me', no, he didn't think he could even tell someone that if he knew them for years. The only people know knew were his aunt, him, and the state.
And of course, those who had left him.

"Oh...And I'm sorry about looking into your room the other day, I guess I wasn't really paying attention and I found myself looking without really meaning to." That was a good apology, right? He was so terrible with apologizing, usually he just yelled at people who pissed him off, but he wasn't pissed off (for once) so he didn't know what to say.
He was not good at talking to new people from what he gathered, when the moving men had asked him if he was excited about moving he had laughed nervously and nodded, they didn't try to talk to him much after that.
Such a shame to be so angry and so ready to yell, but too nervous to yell at anyone until you get used to them and then not want to yell at them.
This was why he liked the internet better, there, he was so much more confident, and was able to rant and laugh at the people who called him a freak or tell him he was overreacting, on the internet you didn't have to see the anger in their eyes, or the sadness, as you yelled at them.

"Meh," Cassy shrugged, "I'm not the most exciting person to stalk anyway."

She raised her arms and stretched a bit, "If you really want entertainment, go watch my sister. She's probably into all sorts of kinky stuff."

Cassy wondered if her brand of humor had crossed the line with that one. She sometimes forgot not everyone found offensive stuff as funny as she did. Well it was too late to take it back. She hoped she made it obvious she was joking.

Micheal blinked and then her words registered completely and he laughed a little, brushing back his hair.
"I'll keep that in mind, after all it's always the lady-like ones who are into the most perverted things." He joked right back, so far he liked this girl, she wasn't upset that he had been 'spying' on her but instead joked about it, he liked that. "They should compensate with something for all that charming class'," He smirked to himself, by his tone you could tell he really meant 'annoying prude-ness'. He wondered if by offending her sister he had offended her, but by the way her voice sounded when she spoke of her sister, he guessed not.

Cassy felt more at ease seeing when Micheal laugh. She now knew he was potential friend material. She figured she should do the whole "get-to-know-you" routine.

"So, Alaska huh?" she nodded, "I used to want to run away there, but then I heard how freakin' cold it is up there."

She hoped life in Alaska would make for interesting talking.

"Alaska was pretty cold yeah, snow in the summer wasn't even unusual, all this heat is extremely strange to me." He shrugged, he was just trying to describe Alaska to the best of his memory, he had only been there for a year and most of that year had been spent in a hospital and then with his aunt as he readied to move. Really, he didn't remember the place all too much and it felt more to him that he had only been there on vacation rather than lived there his whole life.

"I'll bet," she laughed, "Just wait till August, when it to gets humid. Then temperatures can jump to 110 degrees!"

Cassy gave a smack on his back, "But, you should be fine, if you stick with me!"

"Oh god, if I can't stand humid air." He knew that much at least, on the warmer days in Alaska it would get so humid that his hair would puff up to his original state and then puff up five times worse. It was truly embarrassing.
"So, how is the school here? I'm not very good with social situations. If it's too bad I'll probably end up yelling at someone, people can be pretty annoying sometimes and yelling is really all I know what to do when people annoy me, they usually leave you alone after that." He was rambling now like he always did once he was more comfortable with a person,

Cassy raised an eyebrow, "Yelling?"

She wasn't sure if he was serious or just messing with her. A quick study of his expression meant either he was the king of deadpan comedy or he had some odd issues going on. Cassy tilted her head and peered at him for a moment.

"Not sure if yelling is the best way to deal with annoying people."

"Maybe you could just walk away?" She asked unsure.

"I'm not too good at walking, I've always been more verbal than physical." I think "Besides, I only yell about important issues, I don't yell without being provoked, and I only yell at the ignorant. Like when people disrespect woman, or tell triggering jokes, because that is something to yell about." He said, his eyes flared up a bit and you could almost see the vein pulsing in his head. He brushed his fingers through his hair and instantly calmed down.
"But, unless like I said. I don't yell unless provoked." He smiled softly.

Cassy got a little freaked out seeing a glimpse of his angry side. Behind those dorky glasses was something pretty scary. She unconsciously backed up a half step, but corrected herself when she noticed. She hoped he wasn't some psycho that was going to attack someone for looking at him funny.

"That's...good," She hesitated, "I guess. But I think you're definition of provoked may differ from mine."

She tried to laugh to lighten the mood. She thought for a moment before smiling.

"Wanna take the grand tour of our fair town?"

Micheal looked over and noticed she had taken a step back from him when he had said what kind of thing provoked him to yell, he almost felt bad, he didn't mean to freak her out. "Sorry, I didn't mean to sound...threatening-" that was the correct word, was it not? "-, I guess I get kind of carried away when I talk about things like that." He pushed up his glasses and looked at the floor, "and I suppose so, not many people understand my idea of 'provoked yelling', for most it's something like- them yelling first, something like that. For me it's offensive behavior, I once slapped a man for making a 'get back in the kitchen joke'." He was talking without really knowing that he was talking, he really could get carried away and he never really realized how he might sound insane, dangerous, psychopathic, all of the above was true, really.
He thought so at least.
He snapped out of his thought when she mentioned taking a grand tour of the town, "alright. that sounds nice, maybe it'll cool down a little by the time we're back." He smiled softly, "oh, and, I don't believe I've caught your name, as you've probably gathered, I'm Micheal, but you can call me Mich if you'd like."

"My name is Cassy," She grinned, "And I'll be your tour guild for the next few minutes!"

She motioned for him to follow and lead them down the street. They past mostly residential areas until they got to a busy intersection.

"That over there, is the pizza joint." She pointed across the street in front of them. "That's where all the cool people hang out and socialize. Not to mention they got a pretty sweet arcade there."

She turned to the side and pointed, squinting her eyes, "Not sure if you got a car, but over there is the gas station. They're not as good as the pizza joint, but you'll probably find a snake to your liking."

She then turned to face Micheal and smiled, "This concludes the grand tour of our fair town, please remember I work for tips!"
