So for those of us who are not playing a House character, like a Mercenary. What is our set up for being notorious or for people to come in contact with us?

Well, I imagine how you set up your reputation and so forth is entirely up to you. I'm not quite sure how to answer this question. It depends if your character was lowborn or nobleborn, I guess, as well?

@HellHoundWoof

I'm also planning on playing a mercenary, unless inspiration for something more versatile strikes, so it'll be interesting to see the contrast between the characters.

I see no reason we cannot be allies in this. XD

I'm going to leave my WIP sheet here, so that I can easily edit it and build on it.

Updated OP with cultural analogues.

A great house is the central driving force of the game, and as such it is important to design them and to a lesser extent their major vassals—basically the dukes who control the major holds of the Kingdom. A player creating a major house is allowed to leave their vassals vague, but it isn’t entirely recommended. The following is a map detailing which provinces are duchies and which hosts the King’s capital to better help with said creation.

About the Map - Seats of Kings of Orlandis are designated with a "K", the numerical code on the map designates the seat of power of a Duke (a high lordship in Game of Thrones). The information about these seats are up to the players.

NOTE: I can move any "K" on the map to fit your description or terms if you want, it doesn't take me much work to modify!

Ancestral Weapons

Northern Orlandis (The Northlands)
Runesteel is the product of an ancient metalworking progress from the Vyntic northmen. It is said to be as enduring and long-lasting as Mythril, but heavier. Produced from iron, tin, and other minerals in a forging process.

Runestone predates metal, allowing sturdy stone weapons to beat copper and weaker metals. Produced from.... rocks.

Central & Southwestern Orlandis (Lowlands, Midlands, Hinterlands, Highlands)
Mythril is produced from a highlands/hinterlands mineral; mythril is the strongest metal in Orlandis, but the most difficult and rare. It has been seen as a "metal made for kings and myths". It is lighter and sharper than steel. Produced from mythrite and tin.

Silversteel is now seen as sacred due to the scripture of the Word of Aavaar is now less revered than in ancient times. Mostly monastic orders and holy knighthoods are allowed the use of silver for silversteel, silver coins, or any material made of the metal. Produced from silverite, iron, and tin.

Southeastern Orlandis (Expanse & Verge)
Voltaani Steel is the product of the exotic process of metal forging from Old Voltaani; knowledge is spread within the confederacy and the royal family known as House Antar. Said to be comparable to Mythril but easier to make and from generic steel processing and Endosi "magic".

Question for everyone.

Should I launch the OOC even though it is only "almost done", so you guys have more information at your feet?

Sorry for asking a newbz question, but I'm new...

Is this thing full, or are you still taking interested parties? I've been looking for a new PBP forum ever since the one my friends and I created has kind of stagnated. This was the first game thread I checked, and it sounds pretty cool. I'd be down, if you're still accepting people.

I think the best reply is "always accepting", but yeah we are definitely interested in getting more players; given the game is a sandbox there is so many options and I don't think there will be ever a "we're closed" policy.

This is exceedingly far past "above and beyond" what I had first imagined it would be. Much kudos in your favor. Im highly interested in playing a character(s) that specialize in Voodoo/Sorcery. However I am not sure as to what you are referring to when you mention "Orlandis" (Or is it something pertaining to GoT?)

Think of it like this:

Orlandis is Westeros, and Atularis is Essos.

A voodoo/sorcery-type of character would be odd to fit, but me and Dead would try to make it acceptable to fit so you can join us.

The reason I asked is because I am completely oblivious as to where you are pulling these names from. I've checked all the maps you have, and am not catching on at all. And As far as the Voodoo/Sorcery character goes. I could always play another role. In fact; I am interested in playing a role under the Arcane discipline if that would make me fit more easily into the plot line. Another thing is the House's. Could you better elaborate for me how you want them to be playing? I noticed you said it was sort of a sandbox-ish style of play, ( which I would assume is open to much interpretation of the player) But when taking hold of a particular house, how would you want us to play said house?

There's a lot more information in the OOC thread, btw.

I'll get to making a regional map if I'm not clear enough! =)

A magical user might certainly be tricky in the plotline since said magic isn't common in the region where most of the plots are going down in (Orlands) and I don't have comprehensive descriptions of how Atularis works; though it is likely and possible someone from Atularis could be traveling in Orlandis for a variety of reasons.

As for Houses- there are GM linear events but outside of that the sub-plots, development, recent history, members, council, etc. are all up to the prospective players within reason. I haven't scripted too much and tried to make a world that is a playground; though most of that playground that is finished is Orlandis- the reigon the maps depict.

Okay, that actually clears up a lot of the uncertainty I was having about the maps origins. Ive olny read part of the initial post in the OOC thus far, and plan to have it read sometime later on as I have things here to do. But; I assume from what I have read about the Houses, that there is a possibility that the player will be controlling an array of characters (aside from their main character I guess)?

I'll check out the OOC and see if I can get a gist of how things are governed and character (House) usage. I don't wait too long before Ill want to get in there and get started, but I don't want my first post to cause a disturbance in the force so to speak. =J
