There's a different old person trying to open the front door ten minutes before we open.

It's what they do for fun.

They just want to get their cheap generic-brand soda for their grandkids. They need their love, but they need their pension checks in as much a single piece as possible.

I would pay money (more than a dollar, even) to sit and watch this happen every day.

Frankly I don't know if the DC universe is necessarily more mature than Marvel, or if it's just director's discretion. Certainly the classic Superman movies were nothing special. But Marvel seems content to market their films towards the summer-blockbuster explosions and action crowd, while DC is aiming at (marginally at times) more intellectual audiences. So the fact that they can still gross so high is rather impressive, and marks a huge point in their favor.

Open up ten minutes late one day. But for all of that time, stand next to the locked door and stare at the elderly wanting to get inside. Then you will truly know the meaning of power.

And when they do get to the register, they are completely baffled by everything. The touch-screen card reader overwhelms them, the prices don't make sense to them, and they don't understand any of the coupons that they brought.

It seemed like he followed me into this thread with that argument to troll me.

I felt slightly uncomfortable and theoretically violated, so that's how I responded. Don't worry too much about it.

I had an old lady ask me four times where her light bulbs were in the span of time it took for her to check out. I had to remind her that her husband already purchased them and he was waiting at the bar next door.

The worst I ever had was an old woman who was also clearly a hardcore tweaker. She came in, had me count the random fistful of coins and cash she had, and then kept bringing shit to the register and asking me if she had enough. This went on for a good forty five minutes. If she didn't have enough, she wouldn't just ask to buy some of the items. Rather, she would start her search all over again and bring up a completely different set of random shit. Eventually she brought some stuff that she could afford, but when we finished the transaction she spent another fifteen minutes telling me about how God has her back.
