Hey there. I guess you've come to learn about us; my gang and I is what I meant by that. Well it's kind of hard to explain and Jason would be better at telling the story but he wants me to tell you so here I am. According to the history books humanity went to war a few hundred years ago and never looked in the sky apparently, since anything there could easily be some sort of bomb they set on each other. Places like Africa and Australia were pretty much ignored though. Anyway. Apparently there was an asteroid heading straight for Earth for a long time and the last time anyone had cared to look at it they had thought it would just pass by harmlessly.
Definitely not the case here.
It smacked right into Earth and actually killed most of the human population but those who survived bounced back pretty well so that roughly five hundred years later were right back where we started; except we don't use guns much anymore and the armies consist largely of teenagers with super powers of some sort.
So I suppose you could say that we're the best of the best, the strongest of the strong. We live and train at a facility made for us, founded by Jason and with doctors and scientists that have been tested and are studying us to see what it is that makes us so strong. We aren't the only ones here, though they don't let us train with them since we could easily kill any of them without meaning too; that would leave a pretty sour taste in my mouth actually.
So the six of us, we're called Venox and well . . We want to stop the fighting and needless killing of those with powers.

Essentially, because of the cataclysmic event, now whenever disaster strikes certain teens unlock a part of their brain and develop powers. Theses events are personally life threatening, not fear of something or someone, but they directly effect the teenager. The worse the hit the stronger the powers. Not everyone can have these powers and more often than not they don't develop them at all but when they do appear then often governments find them and take them into the army where they die after a maximum of a year. It takes special training to control and often they can easily kill themselves with their own powers.
They stand the best chance here, at the Academia in the northern reaches of Canada.
