Karnus stepped out of the spaceport, taking in the sights of the infamous Mos Eisley. The port-city was bustling with traffic, both speeder and foot vying for the unmarked roadways through a jumble of dome-roofed, sand-colored buildings. Karnus' face was hidden behind practical weather-protection mask in case a dust storm happened to pick up during his visit.

Tatooine was one of the last places he had expected to visit, but he'd heard rumors through some of his sources that a Sith Holocron was hidden somewhere on the planet. Not that that helped much, combing a gigantic desert for a single holocron wasn't something he intended to do, but Mos Eisley was a place where information could be gathered easily and people wouldn't think twice about his line of questioning, especially if they were paid. Besides, he had no intention of leaving any loose ends afterwards. Murder wasn't likely to be looked into deeply on Mos Eisley, either.

With those thoughts in mind he strode towards the cantina, his imposing height and build, not to mention his heavy aura of power, resulting in him being given a wide berth by the oncoming traffic. It didn't take much time to reach the large building, it was practically the first thing you saw coming out of the spaceport after all. He removed his mask as he stepped inside the darkly lit building, making his way towards the bar as he quietly made note of the various people inside.

"No! Get away from me!" a girl screamed.

"I'm fraid we can't do that, little lady! You've been hiding something of the Hutts' and they want it back. Until you give it to us, we aren't going anywhere." the lead man of a group of thugs explained, a twisted grin on his face.

"I don't know what you're talking about, I swear!" the human woman replied, honesty in her voice.

It's a shame this was the crime ridden Tatooine, honesty was never valued. The thug took the woman by the hair and lifted her to eye level, "You're lying, bitch! Tell me now or this is going to get ugly real fast."

"You're right. It will." a womanly voice from behind them said. The thugs all turned to look at her, she was in a black cloak that obscured her face.

The ringleader smirked and started stepping toward her, "Trying to play all white knight, lady? Who do you think you are? Some Jedi? They don't bother with Tatooine, it's too far out." he got closer to her, "So if you're not a Jedi, then you're just some other woman who looking for a good beating. Unless of course, you know her and you're affiliated with the item in question that she's hiding."

The cloaked figure looked at the woman on the ground, her feet were bleeding and she was bruised. "I'm neither a Jedi nor a friend of her's. But I'm not going to stand by and watch you beat the poor girl senseless."

"And what're you going to do about, miss? Kill us?" the thug smirked, pulling his blaster pistol from his holster.

"If I must. Then I will." she said, the cold confidence in her reply made the thug hesitate shortly. When he flicked his arm up to fire aa blaster round into her head, there was a quick 'whoomv' sound. It took a couple seconds to register that his hand was missing and when it did, he looked down to what had taken. A red lightsaber. It purred and hummed like any lightsaber ever did. He staggered with his words but finally managed to bark out a command to his lackeys, two of which had run at the first sight of the saber, "Get her!"

The three loyal thugs all raised their blaster pistols and fired. One shot came back and stuck the first thug in the neck. The next one simply missed. The third shot bounced away into the sandstone wall of the alley. Another shot came and once again was deflected. The cloaked saber wielder raised her other hand and pulled the blasters out from their grips. Then, using the force to point the pistols at their owners, the remaining two alive in their knees. The one that had been shot in the neck was dead in seconds. The ring leader dropped to his knees, putting his hand to his stump, "Oh please! Please spare me!"

The cloaked figure simply stood there with her lightsaber in hand, "I don't want to see you again. If I even so much as hear you squeal about me I will find you and finish the job." she looked at the two remaining thugs who were cradling their injured knees, "That goes for you two as well. Out of my sight."

The ringleader ran off whilst holding tightly onto the stump where his hand used to be. The other two needed to be thrown out of the alley with the Force so the cloaked woman could get what she wanted. The girl on the ground scuffled away from the figure as she approached, knowing full well what a red lightsaber symbolized. When the figure was standing right over her, she raised her arms in some sort of feeble defense, but only heard the lightsaber deactivate.

When she looked up, she saw as the Sith pulled her hood back, she was pale looking and red in the eyes as if she was exhausted, but she was beautiful nonetheless. The Sith was in her youthful prime. Her raven black hair was a bit messy, but that's what one would expect on Tatooine. Her facial expression was softer than she'd expect from a Sith, and definitely not what she'd expect from somebody who had just dealt with a band of thugs.

"You know what I am?" the female Sith asked.

The girl nodded, "I do..."

"You fear me?" she continued.

"I do..."

The Sith kneeled down to be at eye level with her, "Not all Sith are evil." she offered an exhausted smile, "Though a lot are. Are you alright?"

The girl looked confused, bewildered and just lost in thought. She had expected this sort of behavior from a Jedi Knight but not the exact opposite. "You aren't going to make sure I don't say anything?" the girl asked.

The Sith shook her head, she brought her bare hands down to the bloodied feet, they were as cold as space. "Allow me to handle this."

Without permission, the Sith went to work on healing the poor girl. Her feet felt tingly, but as if it were some sort of magic, her feet were healing. "The Force..." the girl mumbled. The Sith nodded.

"You're quite well informed for a girl living on Tatooine." she said.

"I'm not from Tatooine. I'm from Alderaan." she explained.

The Sith chuckled, "As am I." she paused and finished up with healing her feet, "We're not so different. Two girls a long way from home, running."

The girl blinked, "Running? From what?"

The Sith was silent for a moment, "The Jedi Order wasn't too keen on my radical ideals, lets leave it at that."

Those words explained everything to the girl, she didn't need to pry to understand that this Sith didn't like the Jedi ways, it might have been the tone in her voice rather than the words themselves that tipped her off, there was passion in it. "Thank you, er..."

"Tenra. Darth Tenra." she then made eye contact with the girl, and at a closer look, the Sith was indeed fatigued. "Run along. Stick to the alleys until you're home. Lock the door."

The girl nodded and smiled to her, "Thank you." she said and left further into the alleyway.

The Sith watched until the girl rounded a corner and left her sight. After, she raised her hood and went back out into the streets of Mos Eisley. "I need to rest..." she said before turning toward a cantina. As she neared it, she could hear music. Stepping inside, she looked around and saw the place was bustling as usual. One man spotted her instantly and called her out.

"Shae! There's my favorite mercenary!" he said and approached her.

"Not now, Tendo..." she sighed as the broad man wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

"Aww, already tired of the man who brought you half-way across the galaxy?" the bearded ship captain asked.

"Tired in general, Tendo. You know I will always be grateful for getting me off of Coruscant." Shae responded, looking around at all of the people in the cantina, "I need the keycard to your ship. All of this mercenary work has left me exhausted, I need a proper bed. All this sand stone is making me ache."

Tendo grinned, "My bed has room for nine!"

"A passenger bunk is fine for me, thanks..." Shae swiped the keycard from his pocket and waved it in his face, "I'll leave the cargo ramp unsecured."

Tendo was rubbing the back of his head before just shrugging, "That merc is gonna get me killed one day, but the view is great so I don't really mind." he walked past a few people along the bar, mumbling to himself, "Can't believe I gotta use the cargo bar ramp to get into my own damn ship..." he shook his head.

Normally an exchange like that wouldn't have drawn even the slightest bit of attention from Karnus, such interactions were common on Tatooine. But that so-called mercenary was practically reeking of the Force, and that meant she was most likely a Jedi. And when he encountered a lone Jedi in a far away place like Tatooine, he would hunt them down and destroy them. One less Jedi in the world could only mean good things in his eyes.

He didn't need to look to see where anyone was going, and he knew the Jedi would be waiting in that spaceship. Curious that she was working with someone else, though he supposed a Jedi this far into the outer rim would be likely working undercover. He suspected that pilot would be his way on board, but if he didn't order something soon the bartender was likely to make a scene.

“I'll have a Jawa beer.” His voice was deep, and somehow hearing it made those around him oddly nervous. The bartender, normally a quite jovial Gran, simply nodded and turned away to retrieve the drink. In the meantime Karnus kept an eye on the man called Tendo.

After a few hours he watched the pilot get up to leave the cantina, following him shortly afterwards. He didn't even bother to hide his body, the Force ensured that his target wouldn't pay him any mind. His face was again obscured behind the insectoid weather-mask, a deep red HUD displaying variables her currently cared nothing about.

When the man arrived at his ship it was beginning to get dark out for the short period that Tatooine's suns allowed, the perfect moment for Karnus. He watched the man input a code onto his freighter, a somewhat uncommon, relic model at this point, but no doubt upgraded to make it on par with more modern vessels. When Tendo finished inputting the code, the ramp began opening, and Karnus made his move.

The entire action happened in seconds, with Karnus silently approaching from behind and igniting his deep red Lightsaber at an angle, leaving a smoldering, cauterized hole through Tendos skull, and retracting the blade so quickly that it was out of the way by the time the lifeless body fell to the floor with a sandy thump. Within a second Karnus was striding up the cargo ramp, seemingly completely unaware of his surroundings and easily open to ambush, but in reality his strong Force Sense allowed him to watch over everything around him, while masking his own. To Shae he would simply come across as a typical thuggish murderer, perhaps one of the ones she had fought off earlier come to try and kill her in her sleep.

Shae stepped aboard Tendo's ship and locked the access hatch behind her. It was quiet and the power was off so the lights weren't illuminating the metallic corridors of the Celestial Spear. The low light didn't bother Shae as she moved through the dark corridor toward the passenger the room, careful not to knock over any of the numerous boxes Tendo had stored in the main hallway. When she got to the room, she closed and locked the door behind her. Tendo had allowed her to change the code on the door when she took up shelter in his ship.

The room was cramped with four bunks, two on each side of it, along with a viewing port where Tatooine's light shined through. She removed her cloak and unstrapped her blaster pistol, setting it on a crate she used as a sort of night table. After, she rolled into her bunk and closed her eyes. Her lightsabers were hanging from her belt and were in plain sight.

Shae wasn't much of a sleeper after she had been exiled from the Jedi Order. She was so worried that a Jedi might have been following her that she couldn't properly rest. She laid with her eyes closed, remaining in that limbo space where you're not asleep but you're not awake either. She heard the cargo ramp lower, knowing Tendo was coming aboard. She heard a heavy thud and thought that maybe he was working with a client here in Mos Eisley, maybe he was offloading some heavy equipment. "Quiet, Tendo... You're always loud when you work..." she mumbled as she very slowly drifted off to a deeper sleep.

Karnus looked around the dimly-lit ships cargo room as he finished ascending the ramp, pressing the button to retract it when he finished. He didn't want his prey to escape him, and that was one less exit to worry about. Now that it was clear he wasn't going to be ambushed in this room he retrieved his lightsaber from his belt, hidden underneath a thick black cloak over his decorated robes.

His thumb hovered over the ignition button of his saber, not yet pressing it as he didn't want to give away his presence, but ensuring he was prepared if she became aware of him on the ship with her. Behind his reflective mask his eyes closed, reaching out with the force to search for her. When he only detected one living thing on board, it became clear where she was, and he began making his way through the cramped corridors of the ship towards the passenger compartment.

The door was locked, of course. He hadn't expected otherwise but seeing as he didn't know the code it seemed it was time to give away his presence, pressing the button of his lightsaber and holding it in place, the crimson blade humming to life as he took the hilt in two hands, pushing the end of the blade through the edge of the durasteel door and beginning to cut away at it.

Shae had heard it, a sound that she had listened for since she got off Coruscant. Lightsaber. Her eyes opened and she quickly got out of her bed, drawing both lightsabers and igniting them, she turned them both on at the exact same time so it would only sound like a single lightsaber. She saw the red blade making short work of the door in front of her, this wasn't a jedi, they didn't use red sabers. It dropped her guard momentarily but it quickly returned when she reasoned that her aggressor was slicing through the door to attack her.

To Shae, it didn't matter who it was beyond that door, even if it was another Sith, she couldn't take any chances. As the door fell and the two made eye contact, she knew she was looking at a powerful Sith. She attached her two sabers together to make a double ended lightsaber and took a low stance, her weapon held behind her. "No jedi here but come at me and be put down like one!" she threatened defensively.

The first thing he saw when the metal door collapsed onto the floor was the glow of two red lightsabers. This wasn't the Jedi he had expected, but rather something else. Something far more interesting than another holier-than-though Jedi to be hunted down and slain. He didn't attack right away, instead behind his emotionless mask he took in the sight of the girl before him, her body and face said she was young, but her eyes said she had been through more than her years would let on. The only sound between them for a moment was the hum of lightsabers, and their breathing, his metallic and amplified by his mask.

“You have no idea what you are getting yourself into, young one.” He finally spoke, raising his lightsaber. “If you have no ties to the Jedi, then I have no quarrel with you. But if you have even the most remote force sense, you know I can destroy you. Stand down and we can talk.”

Shae held her joined lightsabers tightly and didn't move a muscle as he spoke. "My ties to the jedi are cut." she said, not dropping her guard.

She looked at the door he can cut down and the thought donned on her, "The ship captain." she looked him straight in the eye, "What did you do with him?"

Before she could continue further, she heard a high pitched squelching sound from outside of the ship. She narrowed her eyes at the Sith in front of her but deemed that he wasn't an immediate threat. She chose to step back and look over her shoulder and out the view port. "You've got to be kidding me..."

She saw the man she had taken the hand from, as well as his superior and a band of mercs twenty strong. The superior was standing on top of a crate as he lifted a loudspeaker to his mouth, "Attention, miss Jedi. My colleague here tells me you interrupted our search and killed one of my men. I don't like that. Pinta the Hutt has put a bounty on your head, you're worth more dead. Since I value the lives of my men, I want to avenge him and collect the hefty bounty you have to offer." his voice sounded like he was bargaining or trying to negotiate.

Shae gritted her teeth and looked back at the Sith, "We'll settle this later..."

Looking back out of the view port, Shae watched as the force at her command flung the crate the ring leader was on into the thug she had dealt with earlier. The weight of the crate killed him as he hit the wall. "Snitching little-" blast! A shot from a heavy blaster rung throughout the ship, they must have been surrounded, how many men did this ring leader take?

The ring leader spoke again over the loud speaker as he picked himself up from the sand, his breath was slightly, "Now you owe me two men! Tell you what, jedi... You come out of that ship easily and I might make your death quick."

Shae looked back at the other Sith with an untrusting glare before she spat at the floor, "He clearly doesn't know the jedi very well, even less about sith..."

That's when she heard the distinct sound of a plasma cutter slicing through one of the ship's airlocks. He definitely brought more than twenty men. She was about to shove past the bigger man to deal with the boarding issue, until she heard the man's voice again. It prompted her to look out the view port. "Look on the bright side. You'll only need to cover the loss of one and a half of my men. She most certainly was worth a small sum." he pointed at two other thugs as they rounded the corner, dragging the body of the girl she saved earlier into sight. Shae froze.

The ship shook as the raw power of the force emanated from her. Shae had felt a connection with that girl despite having only spoken to her once, like she was another version of herself. Shae flipped her dual saber and held it like a javelin, "Alright, Sith." she said to the man, "We'll talk in a minute."

She threw the saber at the wall, the plasma of the blade slicing through the hull of the ship like it was butter. It flew straight at the ring leader, he didn't even stand a chance as the blade pierced straight through his heart and continued through him, falling back through the other end of the blade. It was a grizzly sight. Those who caught a glimpse of the red blade before the force brought it back to its master and knew the meaning of the color knew they weren't just dealing with a jedi and ran. With Shae's single terrifying blow, she had cut the head off of the snake and routed thirteen thugs in sight and perhaps more out of sight.

The blade came through another section of the hall and Shae caught it like it was a bird of prey returning to its master. She twisted the two handles and split them into their separate forms, "We'll talk." she repeated, "Right after I wipe these thugs off the face of the galaxy."

Karnus casually removed his thumb from the button on his lightsaber, the blade retracting into itself with a sharp noise as he stepped back from the doorway, the shadows obscuring him once more, save for the red glow of Shae's lightsabers glinting off the emblems on his robes.

“Go then, little fallen jedi. I will wait.” He said, folding his arms in front of him as he leaned back against the metal wall of the ship. This would be a good opportunity for him to determine just how capable she was, a useful thing to know if their later discussion came to blows.

He had to admit he was somewhat surprised she even knew of the Sith. According to the galaxy they'd been extinct for nearly a thousand years, though he supposed the Jedi might learn of such things still. Of course the fact that she thought herself a Sith... That was laughable. He decided if she proved herself here, perhaps he would make a true Sith out of her.

"What's the hold up?" a thug asked as he watched his partner cutting through the airlock door.

"This stuff takes time, man, you gotta be patient. Besides, not like that Jedi bitch has anywhere to hide." the cutter said, not taking hsi eyes off from his work.

"She killed my best friend, I can't wait to make her pay." the first thug stated, his hands shaking with his blaster rifle.

"No shit? Today?" he asked, still working.

"Last week. This is that same person dolling out vigilante justice all across Tatooine, the Hutts already have a hell of a bounty on her head, but it was always a bounty on a question mark as a face."

"Hm, didn't realize this was the same person. Well Tatooine will be better off without 'er. Almost don-... You hear that?" the cutter said, stopping his device to press his ear against the airlock.

The two looked at each other for a moment before the airlock door started to creak and cringe. Their eyes met, and over time they started to get more and more uneasy. Just as they realized what was going on, it was too late, the airlock door flew outward, taking them with it into the sand outside. There was smoke billowing out from the breach in the airlock. Thugs closed in on it, blaster rifles trained. Silence.

As they neared, two red beams of light pierced through the smoky veil along with the signature hum of a light saber. The rifles opened up, and the two red beams swung to meet the lasers. One after one the blaster shots came back to their owners, taking a life with every purchased shot. Before Shae had even come from the smoke, eight thugs had been killed by their own blasters and another three had ran away out of terror. The thugs that stayed started encircling her, opening fire at the same time. The two sabers seemed to be everywhere at once, there was no chink in her defense, every shot at her meant another thug dead. The speed she was spinning the weapons at made it look like she was encased in a glowing red cocoon, the hum was powerful and rapid.

"Somebody just hurry up an-" shot. The apparent thug that was next in line to be ring leader took a blaster shot directly to the heart and fell backward, staring up at the blue sky of Tatooine until his consciousness left him.

In the matter of a minute, all of the thugs had either died or ran off. Shae stood in the exact same spot she had been in when she emerged, surrounded by dead thugs who thought they could best her. She hadn't even used her lightsaber to kill any of them, save for the ring leader before she had left the ship. She stood there, her lightsabers humming in the silence. Some bystanders gathered as looked at the majestic weapons in her hands.

Shae looked around, staring at all of the bystanders, they didn't stay for long. Tatooine was a place where one didn't stick around for more than a few seconds. When things returned to normal, Shae's lightsabers drew back and she clipped them to her belt. Her eyes fell on the dead girl she had saved earlier, she kept them on her for a few minutes. When she finally took her eyes off the body, Shae turned, wiping a single tear from her cheek as she headed back to the ship.

She looked at the Sith as she rounded a corner, her breathing heavy and the look in her eyes fierce. "Start explaining."

Karnus had remained in his position, leaning back against the ships wall with his arms folded and eyes closed, his face passive as he observed the short battle through the Force, slowly opening them and looking over at the girl when she returned to him, observing her face for a moment.

“You should be wary of giving orders to those more powerful than you, young one. You call yourself Sith but you are nothing of the sort. A dark Jedi perhaps, but compared to a true Sith you are but a worm crawling in the dirt. Do you even know our code? Do you understand it? I know for fact they do not teach such a thing in the Jedi temple. To be Sith you must be trained by Sith, as I was, and my master before me. Our line stretches back to the first Sith Empire. You have potential, enough that I could train you, but do not dare to call yourself Sith when you have not earned it.”

Shae turned her light sabers off and gritted her teeth at him, "And you know nothing of me. Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The force shall free me." Shae recited the code, "The jedi order doesn't teach it, but I am resourceful and know more than what the order lets on. Peace and life is my passion, attained through greater power than what the Jedi Order offers."

Shae paused, taking a breath and looking back toward the airlock she had attacked from, "I'm more than a worm, but I do indeed have much to learn. If you're willing to offer those teachings, then I'm not one to turn you down. But..." she steps up close to him, "Don't ever look down on me."

Shae turned and headed for the ship's cockpit. She wasn't going to fly the thing, she hadn't the slightest clue. When she reached it, she pulled out a small device from one of the many datajacks in the cockpit. Shae presented the device to him, "I took this from the order when I left. It contains information for the council's eyes only, information on the Sith that I have learned from."

He followed her to the cockpit, taking the device from her when she presented it and raising an eyebrow. “Resourceful, dangerous, headstrong... You exhibit many qualities important for a Sith. But you have failed two of the most important. As counter-intuitive as it might seem a Sith must be patient, do not blindly enter a fight, you must know the possible outcomes. Second, leave no witnesses and do not reveal yourself unless absolutely necessary. The Jedi believe we are extinct, and if they learned of our existence they would hunt us down, and no matter how powerful we are, we are not yet ready for the final battle. If you truly wish to be Sith, take this first lesson to heart, I have no use for an Apprentice who cannot keep our order hidden.” After finishing his speech he tucked the datacron into his robes, turning away from her. “Now come, I have a mission here on Tatooine, a holocron belonging to an ancient Sith Lord. If you prove yourself during this mission I will take you on officially as my Apprentice.”

Shae nodded when he listed her qualities but didn't do much when he started listing her short comings. Her anger had gotten the best of her when she saw what those thugs had done to the one she had saved earlier. "Whatever you say..." is all Shae mumbled, her eyes staring off so not to show the reluctance in her eyes.

When the sith mentioned a holocron, Shae's attention was captured. She looked at him, her gaze more steely than just seconds ago. "Our goals are somewhat aligned then. I came to Tatooine to hunt down oppressors, you came here for a holocron. I heard mention of a Hutt getting his hands on one, it might be the one you're seeking." Shae crossed her arms, "So. I kill a Hutt, you get your holocron and an apprentice. You don't need to serve me this task, I'm asking to do it."

“If a hutt has managed to get its slimy hands on that holocron it will certainly make this simple. If nothing else, any ancient Holocron will contain knowledge useful to us. But remember what I told you, our nature must remain hidden. This Hutt and its allies must have no idea who we truly are, or our true intentions. Which means no lightsabers, no obvious use of The Force. We will not rush blindly in, either. I am curious as to what you can come up with for a plan, you have exhibited combat prowess and intelligence, but there is far more to a Sith. I will await you in my ship, it's the Mandal Hypernautics luxury yacht, in hanger 15.”

After finishing his sentence he turned away, raising his hood and tossing her a small access card labeled 15, not waiting for any sort of response as he exited out of one of the ships recently acquired holes and disappearing into the dim light of the spaceport, following the passageway lined with various hangars until he reached his own, the hangar doors marked with a large 15. He casually slid a second access card through the slot, the large bay doors opening up to reveal a sleek ship, large enough to hold quite a few people if necessary, and coming across as a typical noblemans luxury yacht, all shining silver and more windows than seemed necessary. Of course, many of those panels hid extensive military modifications, including a pair of powerful laser cannon turrets, missile bays, and a cloaking device, among many others.

Before long he had climbed into the well-lit ship, pressing a small button panel to darken the meeting room, which he had modified to be used as a meditation chamber, sitting down in the large chair and closing his eyes, letting his mind into the force.

Shae listened to what the Sith had to say, she was being given an assignment. While Shae was a mercenary in these parts, there was something in his tone that suggested it wasn't just a job. "I want to ask why you don't show me -your- combat prowess, but in knowing what you are, I'll withhold my curiosity."

Shae bit her lip and left the room, "The Hutt's hideout it is..."
__________

Shae's mercenary work on Tatooine had paid off, she knew long ago how to find this Hutt, but she never bothered to cross his path. If Shae took down a crime boss, that would mean less jobs for her and it'd force her to move elsewhere for more work. The Hutt provided both the thugs she was stopping and the jobs to do, it was a sort of mutual love/hate relationship. Nevertheless, Shae had stopped many of his operations on Tatooine and she wasn't very well liked by the large slug, she couldn't just walk through the front door.

Subtly was key here, she'd find another way. Shae kept her black cloak on, with her blaster pistol in plain view and her lightsabers hidden in the sleeves of the flowing article of clothing. Her hood was up but even if her face wasn't visible, the crooks and thugs knew who she was. To these people, Shae wasn't the 'jedi' that had brought down their colleague's band of misfits, she was the merc that took the most dangerous jobs and stopped the most dangerous people. The two door guards stood nervously in silence as Shae stood across the street, they knew she was up to something, but they weren't about to ask her.

Then, she just turned and walked off. As she did, she had waved her hand slightly and the two guards forgot Shae was ever there and continued their conversation that never happened before.

Shae stepped out of eye shot from the door guards and stepped into an alleyway. She knew the layout to the Hutt's hideout, it went underground nine stories with a comprehensive ventilation system in place. Fortunately, the vents were large enough to fit a smaller woman like Shae. She approached a grate she had marked with a small scrape months ago and used the force to unscrew it from its place. She jumped in and then used the force again to seal the vent as if she was never there.

"Holocron, here I come..." she mumbled quietly and started crawling through the vents.

Karnus remained in his meditation chamber for awhile, energizing himself through the Living Force while also pondering the possibilities of this woman as his apprentice. She knew the Code, but he doubted she truly understood it. She would need guiding and shaping to become a proper Sith, he knew this, but he suspected she would not take kindly to being directly ordered around. If she succeeded in the simple trial he had posed for her, he would take her to Yavin IV, to the ancient ruins of the Massassi temples and Exar Kun's relics. Then her training would begin.

But until then he had time to kill, with her on a mission to retrieve the holocron and he had a datacron to look through. He plugged the device into the ships holoviewer, taking a few casual looks at what the Jedi knew about the Sith Order. As he expected the datacron listed the Sith as extinct as of the Battle of Ruusan, where the Brotherhood had been destroyed, and unknown to the Galaxy, Bane's Order had been born. Other than this they had tidbits of information at best, the Sith Code, certain Sith force techniques that they thought they could adapt into proper Light Side powers, and other such things. None of the information was new to Karnus, it had been passed down to him by his teacher, Sith History was one thing that no Sith Master could fail to train their Apprentice in, but it did tell him exactly how much the Jedi Council knew, and that was far more useful than the knowledge itself.

The was tight but not enough that it constricted Shae. She crawled through the system for a while, moving slowly so not to make much noise. The intended exit was from the boiler room in the lower level of the hideout. When she got to the vent grate, she looked out and saw a man and a woman, a twi'lek and a human getting real close. Shae waved her hand, "You two want to sleep." she whispered.

The couple stopped their kissing and groping to just lay down and pass out. She couldn't help but chuckle at how comical it looked. Using the force, Shae unscrewed the grate from the vent and slid out, landing quietly and replacing the vent. She looked around to make sure nobody else was in the room, she was clear. Shae sat down into a meditative position and closed her eyes, using the force to scout ahead through the underground complex. She would locate the holocron first before forming a plan and making her move.
