So, there are probably only two reasons that you've decided to open up this thread. Either you're already a fan of the Persona game series and I don't have to explain the basics of it to you and you just want to see where I plan to go with this, or you have no idea was Persona is and the name just caught your attention.

So, SMT (Shin Megami Tensei) Persona is one of the many series that's built of the SMT franchise. Persona in particular (at least from the third game onwards) take a more unique turn on the franchise in many ways. The first being the namesake, Persona. As opposed to fighting off demons and contracting them to fight for you, you are instead using the powers of Personas, which is usually a unique spirit for each party member, with the main character being able to use multiple personas. The demons you can contract in other games are instead created through fusing one another to make new personas for the main character to use instead. In Persona, instead of fighting demons you fight things called shadows, which are generally just monsters with varying designs that are different from the demon designs of the other SMT games.

Anyways, point being everyone gets a special spirit (usually humanoid) that they can use in addition to weapons to fight off shadows in an alternate world parallel to the regular world. In each game the iteration of this alternate world is different. For the third persona game, at midnight every night at midnight, time would be extended for an hour called the dark hour, in which normal people would be put in a stasis like state, while persona users were aware and able to move during this time. For the fourth game, there was the normal world, and then an alternate world which you could travel to by going through a TV, and it was dubbed the "TV world."

So yeah, the basic premise of the Persona Series is generally people are dying in the real world, and it's up to the persona users to go to the alternate world, and stop whatever is causing people to die in the real world.

That being said, we haven't gotten to the specific plot of this RP yet. So I've decided to place this in a major japanese city (as all the persona games take place in japan, keeping that fair) which I've yet to pick, open to suggestions. Point being it'll take place in a major city, and all I can say for now without spoiling anything is...It's gonna focus on cell phone apps. That's gonna play a prominent role in this RP. So with that said, there's one final thing to discuss, Persona themes. Generally the Personas in the series (save for the personas you can create through fusion and such) have a theme. In persona 3, the theme was greek mythology. In 4, it was japanese mythology. So, what do we want to have as the theme for the personas in this RP? Personally I think either Norse or Egyptian based ones would be cool, but I'll let you guys decide :)

Anyways, if you're interested post here, and just talk a little bit about your character and whatever "theme" you want for the unique personas.

I would be interested. I participated in a Persona RP a long time ago and made some headway before the GM disappeared into the aether. I wouldn't mind bringing her back.

And since she had an Egyptian person, that gets my vote. (Although personally, I'm all for free-wheeling deities. Think we had Norse, Chinese and Hindu deities in that one.)

I was thinking about just doing a mish-mash of personas, but there seems to be a theme at least for the more recent games. I'll let the player base decide.

:o you had my attention when i read the title, but now you have my curiosity. Count me in if there's something going up. Also I'd prefer open persona themes but if i had to choose for the sake of an rp then i'd be down for Egyptian only because I'm just a little tired of thor and loki and odin and the rest.

I'm intrigued. My vote would actually be for traditional Judeo-Christian demonology/apocrypha--there's plenty of it, it involves sufficiently dramatic figures and personally I think would be a breath of fresh air.

...though if we are going with Egyptian, dibs on Ammit the Heart Eater.

Alright I think if we get the interest of a few more people we'll have enough to move on to an OOC and weed out whoever isn't gonna stay. And also, at this point, I think we'll keep an open theme for the personas as everyone seems to want to do something a little different, so I don't want to restrict everyone's creative juices.

Yeah, but if we do limit it to just Egypt, I have Maat. Truth.

So no one else seems to be posting interest right now, so I've decided that I'll just go ahead and move onto the OOC portion of this as we at least have enough for a small connected group of people.

Few things to note before we get started.

1) I won't be following arcana closely. I mean since this isn't a single person experience, the idea of leveling up relationships and arcana and stuff seems a little pointless, so I'm leaving it out of having a major role. At most, CS's submitted might have an arcana just so I get the basis of what your character is like "combat" wise.

2) There is going to be a theme for the characters, not the persona. I'm sure you've heard and remember the types of themes that persona 4 had and 5 will have in terms of how characters work. First in persona 4 we had the idea of the "shadow" versions of each character and their inner hidden thoughts, and 5 will be working on the idea of "cathartic release" and "breaking free from the chains" and "emancipation" and such things. Well, for this RP, the theme is going to be "desires and regrets." Now all of the controlled characters (you guys) will be introduced together and get their personas and such together, however the way this RP will work is in "arcs" of sorts. First we'll have a "story" arc in which the characters do something to progress the overall story, and then we'll have "personal" arcs in which we turn one person into the "main character" of sorts for that series of post, in which a person must confront their desires and regrets in order to not only better themselves, but realize their full potential. During these times, the person who's character is the focus of the arc will become the "GM" for that portion of the RP, as their character is the focus for that section. I'll be demonstrating how these things should play out towards the beginning of the RP, and then I'll leave you guys to handle each of yours specific parts. I'll explain more in the OOC about how I want this integrated into the CS of your character.

3) I've decided on free form personas. No need to hold people's creativity back by inducing a specific theme for the personas, so up to you guys who you want to pull up, as long as it's not something like "God" with almighty element lol.

That's it, OOC should be up roughly in an hour to 3 max, cya guys in a bit.

I'm interested. Read the OOC and I have a character idea as well, but the rounds and time limits for posting are holding me back somewhat. Sure, three days might work well while people aren't busy, but I foresee quite a bit of skipping for those who are currently studying (or those that will go back to studying in some months) or have a time consuming job.

I've been involved with RP's that have given less time to post while I was in college and I had no problem. Three days is a huge amount of time to write a response, even if one is very busy. If someone can't keep up with that schedule, that's unfortunate but I don't think it's really impossible if you want to do this.

A shame, then. I've had RPs with time limits of a week which simply turned into another assignment I was doing merely out of obligation to the others. If this survives long enough for my next semester to start, I'd rather not do that to myself or to the RP.
