Hello everyone!
I've been gone for...well, quite a while, but I have an idea I might bring over here. The setting is very much in the "punk" part of cyberpunk - a world moving too fast for society to keep up with, with the player-characters being the lost and the marginalized; those that the system has failed or ignored or misused. There will be a rich, complex story, one that deals with transhumanism, artificial intelligence, the nature of power, and the responsibilities of those who hold that power (And plenty of other things). The world has not yet entirely collapsed into a dystopic oligarchy - but the tracks have been laid, and that train will be leaving the station soon.
I know that cyberpunk is a vast and sprawling genre (And wrote something to that effect before the site vanished), so I'll also say that this will be a game where your characters exist in the "real world" - more Shadowrun than Tron. There will be elements of Deus Ex: Human Revolution-style transhumanism and Blade Runner-style philosophy on the nature of humanity. There will be conspiracies to unravel and disasters, some of which your characters can avoid, others they'll have to deal with the fallout (literally and figuratively) from. There will be large and world-changing decisions to make, too - and arguments to have about them.
And, of course, with any luck, lots of fun writing. :3
This would be in the Advanced section with fairly high standards, very likely a small group, and not first-come, first-served. The story is hugely flexible and easy to branch and iterate, but there are character types (Brooding loners, psychopathic murderers, antisocial shut-ins) that I won't be accepting, just as an up-front warning.
So, after all of that, who's up for a cyberpunk conspiracy adventure with me? :3
