Heres the coding I've done so far-
half-Ocotopusses. Sea-witches, known for dancing on the edges of black magic. Gifted and powerful, a sea-witch can achieve a lot through her magic, though is shunned by most others.
half-fishes. Or standard mermaids and mermen. They are the most numerous and thus are the ethnic majority. Most use their magic to influence the sea creatures around them. Often with special objects like a flute, horn or bell.
half-lobsters. Or Cerceans. They have an armored tail and back, with powerful muscles. Soldiers and warriors, bred for war and battle. During peace time they serve as guards. Though they aren't really gifted in the magic of the seas.
Salamander people. They prefer to stay in the shallower waters. Mostly in lakes and rivers. Just like mermaids, they don't have legs. But neither do they have fins on their tales. Instead they 'walk' the bottoms. They can swim with membrane between their fingers. Regorians are pretty agile and surprisingly fast. If you want to meet a Regorian as human, you just need to put a big rock in shallow water and during a sunny day a Ragorian will definitely be sunbathing on it.
Naga are half Serpent. A rarer species of mer-people. Due to the lack of females among them. Which makes it hard for them to reproduce, and increase their population. They swim differently than all other mer-people. Instead of tail strokes that move up and down, like a whale or Dolphin, their tails move from side to side. Whip like, like that of an eel's body. Normally, they have webbed hands, with long spike like fins, close to what you would find on the back of a bass, growing up their back and arms. As they age, these 'fins' grow longer. Making it easier to tell age. Naga have the ability to go on land. When on dry earth, they're tails can be used more like a snake bottom half, that can easily move them over sand or any sort of terrain. Often thought to be thieves and criminal's, in reality, most wish to serve their kingdom.
Humacampus are half Sea Horse. From the torso down, they have curled tails. From that of a Sea Horse. just like there are different species of Sea horse. There are different species of Humacampus. Some have long fans of seaweed like skin hanging from their backs or arms. Nearly like a natural dress. Normally, the skin is off set, colored the pattern in which their tail is. Naturally, they have small healing abilities that make them valued among nearly every type of mer-people.
The Kraken. The First. Alpha. The knowledge around its birth was destroyed together with Atlantis. This ancient, one-eyed monster’s tentacles often cast the last shadow over those unfortunate enough to enter its grounds. For those with a little more foolish fightning spirit, the Kraken has another weapon. Its mouth. With 5 rows of viciously sharp teeth it can shred you to pieces before you even fall into its stomach. Feared and infamous, the Kraken now lays dormant at the Trench. Waiting for the One Song to wake it up.
Serpent. End. Slayer of the Alfather. Jormungand is a massive sea-serpent. The Norn thought that its body kept the seas together. Jormungand is far less known that his cousin, the Kraken. Though equally, if not more dangerous. He prefers to play with its prey, winding around a ship and see who will jump and who will fight. His spit is also toxic. The Great Serpent also lays beneath the Trench, waiting for the Song of Ragnarok to wake it up.
Guardian. Destroyer. Traitor. Misguided One. Many suspect that Leviathan was the cause of the destruction of Atlantis. The massive lobster is surprisingly agile in the water. It was once the great guardian of Atlantis. No human ship could even near the legendary city without encountering this destructive force given shape. Now, after Atlantis’ Doom, the Leviathan still roams the waters, protecting the Sunken City’s secrets. Unlike his brothers, Leviathan doesn’t need to be woken up. Instead, it needs new orders, given to him through an unknown song. Leviathan is said to be the strongest of the three.
An old story still told by gibbering old human and mere-people women alike. “Before this city. Before our king. Before Atlantis. Before the three Ancients, there was Eldrich. He gave birth to the three Ancients. And they began to roam the oceans.” Is the only few sentences left about the story. For some odd reason, both humans and mer-people know about Eldrich. Though his existences has never been proven. There were never sightings of him. Only a few self-proclaimed prophets. Though, if Eldrich is real, the creatures of the world have good reason to fear him.
