@Everyone

Air freshener to cover our scent?
There is no information on the infested's intelligence so... would they be smart enough to stick around? They retain memories, barely, in stage 1... so.. implies that brain deteriorates? Humans and chimpanzees are the only animals that exhibit conscientiousness (basically discipline, regulating impulses, etc.). So if the zombies (human based ones) are any lesser, they'd probably just leave our characters alone since they don't have the self-control to wait.
Theoretically, stage ones wouldn't be able to detect us if all of our characters hid quietly and out of sight, stage twos and higher wouldn't have the patience to stick around. But nothing is really going to stop that stage four from ripping down your door if it knows you're there. >.>
Of course, this is all up to our dear GM.

@Dungeon Blaster

Minor suggestion, but could you compile all the additional information you've given out in the OOC thread into the main post? Would help facilitate information better to the newer people that join.

They're primitive-thinkers, like most zombies you'd encounter in any medium. There is no hive mind, no advanced strategies... just simply, "hey look, there's someone! let's a get'um!"

However, as the virus evolves, they do gain better control of their bodies, and their bodies become better suited to the pursuit. So stage twos, aka sprinters, have enough coordination and control to start running, but they're still clumsy. Stage Threes have fall control, and their bodies are starting to mutate, so they can do stuff like climb walls - if they can get adequate purchase. Things like doors though, will forever remain an obstacle to Stage Three and Fours, because they will be unable to remember how to use them.

Having a Stage Four that could open a door, walk in, pour itself a cup of coffee and say "boo" to you all was a bit OP, so I took away their memory.

As for all of this additional information - yes, you're right. I need to return to the first post and beef it up some... which is something I should have done from the start. The playerbase growing beyond expectations, I think is what has caught me off guard.

Ignore Time's posts. They never happened.

As for his copycat RP, hey good luck to him, I don't hold copyright over any of my ideas. In my opinion, more GMs should play more of a dungeon master role - playing a character and trying to moderate is too much for me.

This doesn't excuse the fact he just threw himself into the IC without approval. @TimeToRP, I just woke up and am groggy, but you're on thin ice sunshine. Sort your shit out please, and come back to me with something I can work with, and a basket of freshly baked muffins from the market.

Looks like you're new here, so I wont boot you out for your hubris. Instead, I'll shed some light on how things work here.

You make a character sheet, post it in the OOC, I then approve it, and then you move it into the character tab.

"Someone should check on the old man, keep him segregated..." Sue suggested, hoping that someone would take up the task.

Anyone? ;-; I guess I'll do that instead XD

@orangebox
Me and ice are writing up yet another giant collab and so our chars are heading down your way. Would you like to do a collab with us, or work something out with our chars?

Austin and Sylvia need to meet someone new that isn't holding a gun and standing in their boxers, and your char Sue would probably appreciate a hand with dealing with the zombie.

This way, there's someone to break up the monotony of endless chatter, and no one (except zombie old guy) dies! hopefully

Here's an updated section from the first post.

The Three Towers Apartment Complex

The players start in Tower 1, a seven storey - six rooms a floor - apartment building. Tower 2 and Tower 3 stand diagonally to it's left and right, further south, about 300 yards away.

Wright had helped a little bit with moving furnature to blockade the stairwell, and went into a couple rooms cautiously as the others talked.

As he tried one door, he heard some noises coming from the inside. Occupied, then...

He gave it a knock. "This is city police! Please open the door!" he yelled. Completely true, that.

He heard some footsteps that stopped a couple seconds later.

"Come on, open the door!"

No response.

He tried it and found it unlocked. Swinging it in, he found...

The gaping maw of a middle aged man groaning with the most bitter stench coming outwards.

"SON OF A-" He brought up his crowbar, smacking the zombie in the jaw with a sickening crack of crowbar meeting bone, and slammed the door.

"We got one in here!" he yelled down the hall.

I thought Arena had found the loose end? That's how I took it. The loose end has been found, apparently he turned quite quickly, but hey ho.

Just an fyi, @hivekiller, I set the scene so it would flood the last level of stairs before the room you mentioned. If they went as far as the living room then things would be a bit of a clusterfuck over there...

Yeah I investigated that. As well as the user, what he's frequented, and what he has started himself. Originality seems to be lacking, but he isn't trying to troll? It seems endearingly clumsy. And also blatant. Hmm...

@FellowRPers struggling to survive:
Wouldn't huddling in our rooms be fairly safe? Zombies will grow disinterested eventually and hopefully be drawn back to the street by noises. Stage 1's would fall for it, especially if we lured them using our windows. Maybe Stage 2's could smell us or be smart enough to stick around.

Our characters have no way of knowing zombie stages and behavior, and we really do lack a guarantee that hiding will work. It really might just end us all, starve us all to death.

Any other brilliant strategies to put out there? *sarcasm*

Wouldn't there still be a scent given off by the humans that Stage 1's would be attracted to?

Yeah, I'm sorry. It was lazy on my part to have left it up to you guys to imagine the building's layout.

Normally my Rps are set in real world locations, or game-world locations with maps to reference. This is the first time I've put players in a fictional setting, and I've handled it crudely. Apologies!

Still, now you know, and things don't look as that bad to me... so I don't think I've ruined things too much. Someone still would have opened fire with an assault rifle, even if I put you all in the Garden of bloody Eden.

In my last zombie-based RP, the players were doing well until I crashed their car, and most of them (including a 9 year old girl) got munched on the street.

A Skyrim RP I did saw people getting killed by bandits that they were too slow to act against.

You guys have been a flurry of activity on the other hand, but your methods of dealing with arising threats are lacking. You lack decisive action. I've got a feeling the next 24 hours are going to be critical for most of you.

EDIT: I also did a Vietnam RP, but a bloody Vet got involved, and took charge. Trying to outsmart someone who knows more about the subject matter than you do is impossible.

Not if you can mask the scent!

PEople fleeing dogs tend to throw themselves in rivers.

People fleeing zombies tend to cover themselves in zombie gore, or really strong scented soap. Hell, who has some incense sticks? Light enough of those bad boys up and the dead wont know what the hell they're dealing with.

That's okay, Andrew's undead self is enjoying being given the time to figure out how to pull his door open.

... sorry for multi-posting in the OOC, its easier for me sometimes depending on what device I'm using. Formatting goes to Hell on my kindle when I try to do it in one post.

Now to find the kind of guts n' gore without finding the walking kind, getting enough sticks to be useful, and making sure the previously mentioned gore doesn't cause an infection... never mind the amount of people who have the soap you mentioned, let alone will use the idea.

My guy isn't that creative in such a situation so he's probably going to go down swinging a broom and trying to pull out a Glock when there's an open door he can leap into that happens to have strong scented soap and a set of frying pans to throw at the zombies. Or is he?... that might not be a bad idea...

If you can clear the building, and take care of any stragglers, as quietly as possible, you will be relatively safe- smelly or not.

Has anyone considered jumping out of a window, to lead the horde away? ANYONE!? NO!?

Come on, Greyeson looks like he's man enough for it.

Stage 4 is busy stalking the AFKers. He promises that although he loves you very much and that he has come up with many varied ways to express this love, he will remain up in the rafters looking over the people that have frozen.

To any who haven't posted, remember there's a 72 hour AFK period, after which your characters are auto-killed to make space for new players.

I'm just saying, if it was me, I'd of been like "Oh um, yeah just lower me down and give me something loud. My guy isn't fat so I should be okay if no sprinters show up," *GM salivates* "I'll come back once I've lured them away!"
