For a time, the Southern State of Coleander fought a bloody war against its northern neighbor, decades of political and religious differences finally coming to a head. This protracted battle rapidly sapped the life from both States as their weapons, magic and soldiers dwindled. At last a treaty was hastily written and signed, both sides eager to prevent their total destruction. The last two years have seen an uneasy détente, but there are other provinces waiting for an opportunity to strike the weakened State, and the war and subsequent depression has robbed Coleander’s people of their faith and trust.

In a desperate attempt to preserve the State, Coleander’s Lord created the Band system, legally allowing would-be adventurers and out-of-work soldiers to take on tasks that the State no longer has the men or resources to handle. Enfeebled citizens and royal figures alike doled out assignments in droves, and the Bands responded in kind; travelers from all corners of Coleander and beyond rose to the task. Yet it remains to be seen how effectively the Band system will solve the State’s problems.

With Coleander struggling to recover and the possibility of another war never far away, these Bands must carve out their own path as an uncertain future looms.

This idea is primarily a low-tech 'go on adventures' kind of fantasy story with some military undertones. I want to start with a simple concept and then build on it over time. I actively encourage other players to add to the plot and mythos as we go. (provided it doesn't contradict the established theme or the other players' wishes) The entire reason I want to RP is to create a story with other people rather than dictate every little thing, and thus I will do my best to remain open to suggestions and feedback. I will admit that this is the first RP I've attempted to start myself, so if someone more experienced than me notices something wrong or dumb that I do, feel free to call me out on it. And of course, ask whatever questions you like.

How would you feel about a guy who is basically a soul forcibly bound to a suit of armor after committing a shitload of war crimes?

I'm down with that. Would he be a 'I did what I had to do' kinda guy who isn't really proud of his crimes, or a straight up villain? Either way works really. I wanna be flexible.

Whether he's a straight up villain or greater good type varies between instances of the character.
One version of him is an immortal who has dedicated his life to ensuring the world is ready when a true threat arises, and has willfully cast himself as the villain to make sure the world doesn't get complacent.
While another version is basically just a greedy jerkass.

My preferred version of him is the greater-good/willful villain incarnation.

Just a heads up, I'm using him s a currently unnamed character in my RWBY RP, so his name will need to go unrevealed until I have a chance to make his identity known to the players in that RP, lest they come snooping over here.

I could easily draw on my arsenal of other characters, but I feel like using this particular character in a sense that is not him being an immortal, unkillable, walking god-mod/reality glitch.

Immortal is a bit much, I think. 'Very long-lived' would be fine.

The Omnipotent Sphere, would you wanna be a Band member? I'm hoping to have 4 or 5 besides myself. The original idea was that my character would found (but not necessarily lead) a Band that much of the story would follow. If enough people are interested we could have multiple Bands going at once.

as I said, tone him way the fuck down, maybe technical immortality in that he'll literally be a possesed suit of armor, so age isn't a factor, but he can be injured if the armor is damaged, and if it's totally destroyed he'll die.

Awesome! I'm hoping that two or three more people will find interest in this, and then I think that'd be a good place to start. Even after that it should be pretty easy for new people to jump in if they want.

As I said, I definitely would like around 5 or 6 Band members including my character, but if you wanna be a villain, State official, or something else then that's fine too.

My character will be the previously mentioned soul bound to armour, imprisoned as an eternal punishment for war-crimes committed in the name of the greater good, and repentant for his actions.
