Hello and welcome to Lochwell.
A couple of points -
- This RP is heavily character-driven. There is no overarching story or plot - everything is up to the players to decide. I will gradually add stories but how you react, what you do and what you discover is pretty much up to you.
- Besides what I've laid out, there isn't much lore I have created yet. You can be literally from any country, race or culture - but please keep your creations within reason.
- This is a very dynamic RP, and the world it is set in will change and develop based on player actions and backstories. Because of this, the Lore section below will gradually build as more people add to it.
Lore (Be warned, this will be quite sparse until the RP starts in earnest) -
Lochwell is a coastal city, reasonably big but not as populous as Mirandil, the capital of the nation of Gaia. Because of its location by the sea, foreigners are not an uncommon sight and there are at least as many immigrants to Lochwell as there are people born in it.
The money is brought to Lochwell by the waves, as the saying goes. There are many merchants and traders who have made their fortunes through Lochwell. Make it in Lochwell and you may be invited to take a seat on the Council of Fifty, the body that elects the next Mayor.
Not everyone has made their fortunes, however, and there are plenty of poor districts where crime and disease are rife. In areas like this, it is hard not to fall in with one of the local gangs. Fueds between these ragtag guilds are common, though they have been known to unite against the guards when the need arises.
Small elven treetop villages are not uncommon in Lochwell's outskirts. They usually hunt and provide exquisite woodcarvings and pelts of rare animals to merchants from the safety of the surrounding forest.
There is an Mages' Guild, where scholars and magicians can study more into the workings of magic. It also serves as the main form of education for the city children for a small fee.
Lochwell is the last stop on the King's Road before Mirandil. The King's Road is the most reliable way of moving around Gaia, being wide and well-guarded. It is also one of the slowest, since it winds through every major settlement in Gaia. If one is in a hurry or is not afraid of bandits, however, there are plenty of backroads that can take one directly to their destination.
Currency in Gaia consists of the Gold, Silver and Copper coins. The Gold coin is the standard measure of value, even when the coin itself is not used. One Gold piece is worth ten Silver pieces, the most prevalent coin amongst commoners. If one is truly poor, they may conduct their deals with Copper pieces, worth one tenth of a Silver piece.
That's all for now, folks. CS Skeleton is on the character page. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, please pm. Enjoy!
