Hello people, and welcome to Essence. It's an ongoing RP universe with one complete and two ongoing seasons, for one of which we're currently looking for a few new players.

What is Essence? Essence is the fabric of this fictional world. It's the life-force of everything. It exists in animate and inanimate objects alike. It's the fuel for magic, and the host of the soul that gives everyone an individuality. It's also the shortened name for our RP/world.

It's mostly based in our world, the location is somewhere in Western Europe, the country has no name but the city does- Loom. The year is 2035 but technology is only slightly more advanced than the one we have now.

However, what is different is the populace. The world of Essence is inhabited by angels, demons, humans and chimeras (any mixture of the above). Those have nothing to do with your typical biblical characters, they merely share the name. None of them are abnormal either, although currently angels are near-extinct and chimeras are new and rare. The basics of the world you can find here. An extended version, but not one we'll necessarily stick to, is this. Please read the info on the first link as it's going to be important to how you play your characters. The second one gives you additional information and is thus optional.

Now, there are a few differences to the site as well. The basis of the world we play Mending in can be found on the ooc. In the most simplest terms, you're going to play students in a magical academy teaching you how to keep the peace in a post-war world. To do that you're using shards of the “Essence of the World”, a creature created by combining the remains of the original 3 races. After the war said creature (named Hazumi) shared her powers with humankind and now you students of her, taking on the shapes of weapons or musical instruments.

It's also largely a sandbox-type RP and although we have missions and overarching plots, we do rely on player initiative to create sub-plots, brainstorm about relations and bring in new aspects of the world.

It's not a first come-first serve type of RP. Depending on the effort you put in your CS I'll tell you if this is, in my opinion, the right RP for you. We're all very devoted and have pretty high standards for the content of what we're writing. If you have any questions, feel free to pose them here. Same goes for CS-es, which you're welcome to post straight to the Interest Check for evaluation.

Hmm...sounds intriguing. I'd like to familiarize myself with the world first, but I'm definitely interested.

My one question is how many of the posted characters are still active? I'd like to know what kinds of personalities to expect if I decide to submit a CS.

For the active characters, look at the OOC chara section. The ones still playing are as follows.

Hazumi, Karnage, Alzir, Lazarus, Fenrir, Tokarin, Uriel and Gabriel?
I'm not certai about Lucaris, Sonata and Aurelie.

Also the IC isn't very far in so fitting in shouldn't be a problem. Plus we're expecting some additional characters from existing players.

hello, I'm interested. I'm going to catch up on the ic, of course, but could I have a brief summary of events transpired? And it would be helpful to know if you're looking for something in particular.

Hulo there! Sorry I haven't been around much lately, I'm catching up with family and friends I haven't seen in half a year. Won't be online much till next week or so but I'll give you a very brief outline now.

What happened the first day (which is all we've done so far) is a little scandal at the start, then the students had breakfast and either went to classes or were recruited for a mission. We've just finished the mission. You don't need to read the whole IC as most of the characters there will be gone by now... What you should read is the first and last IC post.

Where you could jump in, is in saying your character is headed for classes or that they're part of the group that's assigned/asked by the principle to give Hazumi a music lesson. They won't know her personally yet so it's pretty convenient. :) Or your chara could just come to the school because they've recently found their Fragment (refer to the ooc if you don't know what I mean).

We don't need any specific type. We try to have complex characters overall so I couldn't say we "need" anything in specific. Perhaps just students that can play musical instruments, but that's not a necessity. However I do suggest you make a student and not a freelance or teacher.

I've caught up with the first page of IC, but I will skip to the last, in this case. I will definitely make a student. I have an idea in mind already.
