Currently Found A Partner To Work With, Thank You Everyone For Your Interest!

Hello Fellow RPers!

I remember a time when I was very much committed to this site and had many successful RPs running. Nowadays any recent attempt to get myself back into Roleplaying has had me dropping before they barely get past the first page, however I feel as if that has something to do with trying to attempt to RP the ways I did before I left this site.

A Little Background About Myself...

I've been RPing online back since 2008 when I was 12 years old. When I started I was using a small sub RP forum from a favorite web series of mine, however in 2009 when it went down for maintenance I along with a couple of others were left without a "home" so to speak for however brief amount of time. I was hooked to RPing though, it was a way for me to write and collaborate with other fellow writers to craft a pretty awesome story. I came into this site shortly after and of course was hooked immediately once more. Eventually I made this place my place of residence and slowly worked my way up the food chain, from the embarrassingly written basic section(Now called Free, which I think is a more fair term) to the intensive multi-thousand worded responses in the Advanced section(Which felt less RPing and more co-writing a multi-layered novel). I eventually turned to 1x1 RP's as they were more manageable and of course a complete blast to play. My writing still remained intensive though, being pretentious enough to hold myself to a five paragraph minimum(or three long bodied paragraphs) no matter the spelling mistakes from my smartphone or the actual substance of what was happening in the scene(In all actuality it pretty much was all excessive fluff). I got better though, and as high school was running alongside my hobby I would generally limit myself to 1 1x1 at a time as posts would take a good two hours for me to craft. But I had fun, and most importantly I was writing.

I stopped intensively RPing around the time I was a Junior, and because of that my later 1x1's I would attempt to reignite when I would get bored always fell through after the first couple of posts. I was on and off, even trying different sites as well, however for some reason I just couldn't get back into what was previously a lot of fun for me. Here's a couple of reasons I have sat down and really noticed why:

- I tried to write as intensively as I once did. I have way less of an attention span when it comes to writing, and part of the reason is that I haven't been practicing. I would try to present these multi-paragraphed responses as I once did, however they eventually would turn into this unnecessary fluff that I would grow frustrated with. To me it was so hard to really have the will to write these long responses for a few hours and eventually I wouldn't be motivated to continue.

- The plot was too linear. This is such a huge issue for me when it comes to RPing, however it really was my fault when I crafted some of my interest checks. The plot and pairings I would make just would come off as too straightforward, predictable, and inveitably unfun as I would know exactly where the story was heading. Of course I did because I was the one who made the plot, but because of that there was this sense that I was doing all the work(I wasn't of course, however my partners didn't really have a lot to go off of besides going along for the ride). I need things to be open ended, and of course I need to be in the dark on plenty of aspects(One of my favorite collaborations involved this aspect of improv on both of our parts).

- I ultimately need incentive. I like grinning ear to ear the moment I see a thread glow gold. I love opening a thread as one would open a Christmas present and be ecstatic with my partner's words. Most of all though I enjoyed this accountability of wanting to present my partner with just as awesome of a post. I feel as if I overtime confused quantity to mean quality, and this inevitably lead plots to absolute standstills. There needs to be progression in any kind of story for it to be interesting, and that to me as a big problem of mine when crafting my posts. Nothing was happening, and it was even worse when my sessions would turn into these dreadful action -> reactionary posts back and forth between me and my partner. My posts sure as hell weren't strong enough to carry by itself.

What I'm Looking For...

Short Answer: An experienced writer who will be patient with me and who can help myself be re-inspired with writing.

- I want this to be a Casual-Advanced RP, leaning on the casual side. I'd to feel accountable for my writing, but by no means obligated to post responses that fill a certain criteria of length. Please tell me if my responses are crap or not and push me to do better.

- I want there to be equality. I don't want one of us to post the action and the other person to post the reaction of what happens. I believe that NPC's should be controlled by both members in a 1x1, and as long as the characters remain "in" character there should never be any problem with this. This also makes events and decisions written by each other exciting and pleasant treats to interact with, just as long as the pacing is balanced and character actions make sense.

- I want the world to be evolving. I'm hoping for a fantasy setting, however that's more of a preference while evolution is a necessity. Places should never be static. Seasons, disasters, a person's decisions, anything can affect the world around them and the RP just feels a little real that way. I enjoy having my character build something as well, such as a building or faction that slowly grows into something more substantial. I enjoy having an antagonist break these things that are built, that there is motivation to be facing this opposing force. I enjoy change.

- I want layers. I want characters to have layers. I want cities to have physical multiple layers, that our world feels 3-D and vast. I want there to be layers to a plot, where different places have different plots and even antagonists that affect the world as a whole. I want to build a story that feels whole and real, a world that remains only limited through our imaginations.

- MOST importantly I'd like communication. As with any good relationship communication is key, there needs to be understanding between both parties in what is happening. I'm in no way referring to story events a player comes up with(predetermined events in my opinion are boring to play through anyway) but rather moments of "touching base" every once in awhile. Don't be upset if you're good guy who's actually a traitor ends up dying in my post, however if this characters death is written in a way that's in poor taste by all means let me know. There shouldn't be backtracking in an RP, however comforts and preferences should be known and catered towards as a story is developed. Less swearing? Great. Lay off a bit on drastic plot changes? I hadn't even noticed thank you for telling me. Let me know if my writing isn't up to par, if you REALLY want more from me, if the story is going in a good enough direction for you, etc. etc. And I of course will be sure to let you know how this 1x1 is going for me. If I'm unhappy or realize that I'm just not motivated to continue, tell me I'm being dumb and keep writing! To be a bit more serious, I will let you know well ahead of time if the 1x1 isn't working out for me. I will let you know the reasons for myself not posting for a length of time. I will be sure to let you know the things that I'm liking and disliking about the story thus far. So please try to extend the same amount of kindness to me, for the sake of both our patience.

Preferences:

In terms of the actual RP there are a couple of elements that I prefer, but by no means are set in stone.

I'm a 19 year old male attending college, however I am by no means gender restricted. I don't care about your age and gender, and while I'm more naturally accustomed to a male character please don't lose interest because you yourself are a male as well. I've RPed plenty of female characters, some even in romantic situations, as I really only see RP as a means of telling a story with another person.

I'm a fan of fade to black, even more so because of the reason stated above. I understand realism, and I have been in adult RP's with other people, however in terms of telling a story there's just a preference to implying more explicit scenes. This as well extends to things like intensive death scenes, animal/child abuse, perverse character fetishes/quirks, etc. etc. This by all means is not a strict no means no rule, however I really just have found more enjoyment in really putting more emphasis in the adventure rather than the grittiness of a story.

I'm a fan of fantasy settings, and the more fantastical the better. I love other people with a very vast imagination, so when making a sandbox I really don't like to focus on the limitations of a world. I enjoy there to be structure and there are some elements to reality I like to keep, however when traveling an ever evolving world it's just fun for me to experience new elements to introduce. I'm a sucker for the medieval limitations, but airships and flying castles and mythical monsters and intense magic and extravagant clothing...and I'm rambling BUT all these elements are fun for me. And Sci-Fi settings work too, but I'd prefer to keep things sword and shield.

Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I am of course a sucker and a fan of a good romance. Not even between our characters, I love NPC's falling in love as well. I really really really would like there to be a connection between our characters, but it doesn't necessarily have to be romantic. Once of my favorite 1x1's had this subtle sexual tension between both main characters, however their strong friendship and understanding with one another made things fun and memorable when they had romantic interactions with another NPC(In some aspects hilarious as well). I enjoy characters to experience a variety of emotions, but I always will be a sucker when it comes to love.

Let's see...mysterious characters...interesting villains...powerful enemies....substance in towns and cities...strong NPC's....

I essentially am just rambling through my keyboard at this point, but all in all I'm a sucker for a good story. Please be sure to let me know your preferences and what you wish to get out of this 1x1.

In Conclusion...

I am looking really only looking for one thing: a person who read through my post and is willing to help me be re-inspired when it comes to writing. I need someone patient with me, who will help me, who will communicate with me, and who will have fun with me. There isn't a plot set out because I have no plot, nor do I really want any heavily specific plot. I'd like the worlds lore to be vague, to have some understanding to the structure of this world but to leave things open to be developed and explored. I'd like our characters to have our own secrets, motivations, powers, lineage, anything to really have this element of curiosity from each one of us. I'd like there to be some reason for our characters to travel together, for there to be some understanding/friendship, but for interactions to be varied and different.

Help me write, and help me make a world that I can grow to love.

You sound like my kind of writer. I totally get the dropoff of roleplay inspiration, I dropped out of RPGuild too for a long time. Tried to come back and failed. Now I'm looking to try again. I wish I had some example roleplays to show you (because you mentioned you liked evolution and layers, and I do that stuff on a Lord of the Rings level as often as I can), but all of them pre-2013 were lost when the site shut down.

Hope to hear back from you, friend.

Taiylor, thank you for your interest however I unfortunately have already chosen a partner to RP with. If more time opens up for me to RP I'll be sure to let you and everyone else who PM'd me know, and leave things open for discussion once more.
