Humans, we work, play, spend time together. It seems that as long as humans have been around, we've only gotten busier and busier throughout the millennia building our civilizations and expanding them. We've become so busy that we now can't do everything we want and we sometimes wish we could be in two places at once. Technology is going change all of that.

Fast forward to the year 2095, scientists have made the first androids capable of performing tasks ranging from simple to complex tasks. Just about anything from cooking to changing the oil in a car. These androids were invented to make our lives easier. You could rent one of these androids and have it custom made to look exactly like you and could rent it for however long you needed it. Say if you had to work weekends or got sick and couldn't go to work, you could rent an android to go to work for you programmed only to do the tasks that you needed it to so that you could spend the weekend with your family or rest. Or, say you needed another job and know that your busy schedule wouldn't allow you to have another job, you could rent an android to go to your interview and get the job for you then program it to attend that job so you can have two jobs and make more money.

The invention of the android came with praise and criticism from christians to arrogant intellects. Regardless production of the android increased changing human society drastically for better or worse. Years into android production and the economy has gone up due to competitor on competitor android production as well as in increase in the sales of androids. In this new human society man and machine work side by side, the androids are now being used by countries for spying and assassinations as well as opening a new wave of crime, as well as these androids gaining sentience and intelligence every day who knows what'll happen in the coming future?

In this rp we can be regular people or androids and live an everyday life in a futuristic society where androids are changing our world becoming more and more unstable everyday. Cs will be posted if anyone's interested.

If Bob can rent an android to do a second job for him. Then Bob can rent two androids to do both jobs for him and Bob can stay home all day playing video games. Maybe Bob hires a dozen androids to work a dozen jobs for him.

Why does Bob or anyone bother to work at all?

Yes. Is this basically a slice of life type of thing (I think that is what it is called)? Or is there more stuff going on?

Other than managerial jobs what other jobs requires an actual human?

If a guy has a job working at a grocery store as his sole source of income could he afford an android?

@Revans Exileactually I didn't think of that but yeah it could be a slice of life, but the plot is basically living a normal life in a futuristic world where man and machine work side by side more than before, but it could be a slice of life sci fi rp or a more heroic plot where our characters are trying to save society from the androids that will become sentient or a more cold war esque theme where androids are now the prime tool for spy agencies across the world, lemme know what you think

@Revans Exilealright awesome, I think the androids being used for spying is a better idea, and our characters can either be spies or just regular people who get dragged into it somehow, if you're ready I'll make a character sheet, and I hope we can get more people

This is an interesting concept. I imagine that only wealthy people would be able to afford renting androids to perform jobs for them, so that would put a limit on their availability to the general public. There would also probably be different classes of androids, like the high-end ones are the human-looking doppelgängers while cheaper, lower-class androids would be more machine-like (and not necessarily humanoid depending on their specific tasks). Programmers and mechanics would be in high demand to build and program these incredibly advanced machines, and robotics would probably be a required field of study in public schools.

I'm interested but I'd like see some of the finer details worked out first.

I really doubt they would be built by human hands, this is a more likely situation.

To live a a life of leisure, until we design a robot so advance we design our own doom. Besides GM did say jobs like management would require a human. Anything involving creativity like painting, sculpting, etc would require humans. One day the robots would become superior to humanity in absolutely every aspects at that point they will have no need for us and then like the neanderthals humans will become a foot note in history.

Do you think this would make the population, as a whole, more dependent and less capable (like how dependent we are on technology today, if robots did all the hard jobs for us we'd get lazy) save for a few individuals who'd prefer to rely on their own capabilities?

Of course. Humans by nature are lazy. The only reason humans create things that make life easier, isn't convenience it is laziness so they don't have to.

Anyway we could play a doppelganger with sentience? Possibly actually thinking they are the person they were created to imitate?

That could lead to all kinds of criminal/legal drama.

Not to mention the metaphysical conundrums. If the AI with your memories kills you is that suicide? If you kill the AI with your memories is that suicide? Would you be held accountable by God for the sins of the AI with your memories?

I don't remember where OP said the AI has its doppelganger's memories, it's just programmed to act like them. However, even a sentient AI would be able to tell the difference between itself and its human dobbelganger, otherwise it wouldn't be true sentience.
