What do you mean by that? If we're talking about what to focus on, I'd say character growth/development... I mean, there's only six main characters (half of whom are basically connected at the hip to the other half), so we might as well learn to write them well.

Da this is what I think would be best, part of the group is bonded only by the fact that they are in a strange world and (at first) want to return to familiar soil, but the journey will be long and we will have to understand our environment until then but most of all we need to know the people and things we will be traveling with. We have the stage set and we have the actors now we need to define the characters they will portrait and the story they will be in.

Hey, Tobi, just for the sake of having something happen, would you mind having a simple, easy battle happening after my post? I'm sure you'd like to try out the battle mechanics, and I'm having trouble continuing without anything happening, so, maybe this will help motivate me, and possibly even you.

While that sounds like a good idea- no. Everyone would die. I did, however, introduce a stranger with which the characters can interact, while interacting with each other. Said stranger can get everyone up to speed.

If we can't beat anything... how are we supposed to get any sort of exp? I mean, how many RPGs make their lowest-level enemy stronger than a level 1 hero? Plus, you could make it just as, if not even weaker than, us at this point. Heck, he could be a complete joke enemy, just to get us acquainted with the basics of a fight. Heck, they could even be a recurring joke character whenever we need to test a new technique out (as in a new thing entirely, such as weapons, and then having multiple skills... ect), basically, a tutorial boss... just a note, for the future. I'm not angry, it'll just be a little more difficult to post for a bit.

Anyways, I'll try to find that stranger, and possibly have Jason interact with them... remember, Alan's shy to the point of being a mute around strangers.

It's a matter of narrative, and the intrinsic nature of Digimon. Namely- if Level 1 eats enough, they'll reach Level 2, and it's a design point that the earliest stages have harder times fighting. Specifically- Pabumon has One hit point. One. And your character has like three. We are not taking hits- unless you want it to be like a Kakuna battle.

Heh, alright, alright. As I've implied, it's your RP. BUT... this is an RP where leveling up = evolving, so, more or less, we should have a means of gaining stat exp at least until we can do something in a fight... then we can have our tutorial boss. That is, unless HP doesn't grow as Vitality does, in which case, I'd rather we hold off until we're at stage 2.

There are food items that can grant Battle Exp. You just have to have them on hand, or find a way to find them, or buy them- at least for levels one and two. When leveling/Digivolving happens, then you get to re-roll your HP and Energy modifier (die times level) and apply the new Vitality and Wisdom bonuses respectively. Hit-points and Energy do not increase as Vitality and Wisdom are invested.

Alright, then. So, we'll have to basically wait until we're stage 2 to get into some actual fighting.
Now... how do we get bits without fighting? Do we just find them lying around?

Level 3 actually. The maximum, and I mean absolute best case scenario, for Hit-Points at level 2 is 14. Minimum 2. So, be glad I'm not a killer DM or anything. Also, as for BITS, not sure where you'll get them initially, before battles I mean.

Well, since we all start off with 0, and most likely no food...
we're going to have to come up with something pre-stage 3... or you could come up with enemies that a group of stage 2's could handle... and possibly offer a re-roll at stage 2 if your HP is 2. Anyways, I'm sure you can figure something out for these initial stages, and, just as well, you should, the most important part of a game (text-based or no) is arguably the very beginning, where you're introduced to everything.

I know. At this point I'm just trying to think up beginning-level things for us to do. Maybe some sort of early-leveled caves where the reward is a stash of bits, with easily-solved puzzles, and such.

Keep in mind, though, that if you are still planning to turn this into a comic, you should probably make the first part somewhat exciting for your possible future readers, as well. Either way, I think it's your turn to post IC... well, either yours or Razael's.

And the people who would read a Digimon Sprite Comic will know the general pacing that Digimon stories need to take when you start with a Baby Digimon. Having relatively exotic 'mon appear is enough- plus there's that prelude.
