Layla watched as Stella sat down. "Hi Stella, I'm Layla. Aww you have a hedgehog now I miss mine. Jerry is home all alone right now. I should have brought him." Staz looked over at Stella's hedgehog which is what reminded her why she hadn't brought her own. "No Staz that isn't food. Geez you know better." She bopped the owl's head and he appeared to give her a dirty look. Her attention then turn back to Aleksandr. "Yes annoying, unfortunate because I live in the muggle world and went to a muggle school before I got my letter I had to start home schooling between years at Hogwarts. I'm actually almost done though. I have managed to get a couple years ahead so I think when I go back home our first break I will finish my schooling." She was pretty proud of herself in that matter. After she finished with her muggle schooling all she will have to worry about it her magic schooling which will allow her to relax a little.

Stella scratched Pip's cheek, causing the hedgie to fall over to have his belly rubbed. "Well, do you want to be in the muggle world or the magic world?"

Aleksandr looked at Stella's cute hedgehog. "I am doing pretty well how about yourself."

Then he turned his attention back to Layla and listened to her explanation about her muggle life. It sounded like she had a plan and everything was under control in her life. Brock had turned over in his lap and folded in his paws, he looked like some kind of puppy. He only did this when he wanted his stomach rubbed. He listened to Stella's question and it was a good one. When you have a choice which would you choose, the muggle world or the magic one.

Layla thought about the question Stella asked her. "That's a hard choice. I was raised in the Muggle world entirely until I was 11. Up until then I had no clue that the magical world even existed. My family and I thought it was some sort of joke when I got the letter. But then Henry and his dad started showing me the wizarding world and I think I instantly fell in love with it. Though there is always a thought in the back of my mind wondering when I am going to wake up from the dream I'm having. And of course I always question how to non-magical partents managed to have a magical daughter. To be honest I don't think I would be able to pick one. Not now, maybe my first year I could have but after that I can't chose." Her mind often ran in tangents so she hoped her explaination made sense sometimes she would go to far off subject without noticing it and everyone would be baffled. She didn't think she had gone off subject but she never would have notice if she did.

" Nice to meet you Raven; Names Elijah Finnigan. I'm a 6th year Gryffindor, and a Prefect. This bundle o' fluff is Joseph. Don't let his face fool you; he's actually a big softie and loves having his belly rubbed. "

Joseph meowed from his cage and after getting permission to sit down he let Joseph out and flopped down on one of the couch like seats in the compartment. Elijah had always liked the compartments on the train because he could stretch himself out. On the ride to Hogwarts in his 3rd year, he'd actually fallen asleep against the window and ended up with an imprint of the wooden frame. That thing took forever to wear off and his fellow Gryffindors had laughed at him for it.

He had quickly learned that year that when bad things happen to someone else and you think it's funny; it's not so funny when those things happen to you. That knowledge tends to change people's perspective ( most of the time ), and it had certainly changed Eli's.

" If either of you end up in Gryffindor after being sorted, I, along with the female prefect; whose name I can never remember, will be there to assist you if you need anything. It's our job to guide and nurture the first years as they say, and I really enjoy it. "

Joseph looked warily at the snake before curling up on Eli and making sure that the white cat the first year had didn't intend on causing trouble. He had no trouble putting Gizmo in his place ( which would most likely involve some hissing and a few well placed bats of a paw ).

" All that aside, I've seen quite a lot of snakes, but I've never seen a white one. It's actually incredibly rare for an animal to be an albino. "

Rigel stepped onto the train, looking for Alexi. His mother had warned him that the Black family was dangerous and sinister and he saw what she could mean when he had first met Alexi, but he had grown used to her, maybe even fond of her. He yawned slightly and gave up finding her as he saw Ben and Olivia. He waved slightly as he started into the compartment. "Do you two mind?" He asked gesturing towards a seat. @Morte Angelis

Rylan sat in her compartment, silently working on her newest firework creation. She was trying out some things George had taught her. With her things was merchandise from the shop that George had told her to sell while at school. There were love potions and fireworks and skiving snackboxes. Most of the store was sitting in her trunk, wrapped in robes. She would make a killing as George had instructed her to double the price and keep half the money. She hummed softly to herself as she worked. In all honesty, she was kind of hoping for company to draw her away from her work. All she'd done all summer was work. She wanted a small break.

"Being a Prefect must be pretty cool," Raven told Elijah but then asked him," what do you do as a Prefect? Are there certain traits for certain houses do you think or do you think that it is totally genetic? She watched the Elijah's cat very closely, she didn't trust him one bit near her snake, she had already known that Albino was rare but she appreciated the fact that he was happy to share what he knew. She wanted to know absolutely everything that she possibly could about Hogwarts and she figured that a sixth year Prefect was a good person to ask, she knew that she would have to make the most of the time that she had in the train with him around as she had already figured out that she was more than likely going to be put in Slytherin, the one house that she didn't want to be in. She turned back towards Brand and asked," What house do you want to be in, Brand? Also, what house do you think that you will be in?" hopefully he realised that those were two totally different questions.

While Raven waited for her answers she noticed that Albino was waking from his slumber which thanks to Joseph the cat had been much shorter than usual. She quickly started to stroke him again to calm him back down before he started to feel threatened.

" Well some would argue it to be genetic, since so many of the Weasley's were Gryffindor prefects. I just think that if you become a prefect, that something special is in store for you. "

Gently moving his finge over Joseph's ear and making it twitch, he continued.

" One of the prefects duties is to attend special ( and most of the time incredibly boring ) meetings, and we can also take points away. Those are the two biggest duties that we have, but we can't take point away from other prefects, no matter how much we might want to. There was a smarmy little bloke from Ravenclaw who graduated last year who would pick on the first years and deduct points from them if they couldn't answer his questions correctly. I got him back for picking on them though, and I wish I could have seen his face when he found out I'd charmed all of his knickers to turn pink as soon as he put them on. "

Elijah looked fondly back on the memory of performing that charm, and the head of his house had scolded him before promptly bursting into laughter and giving him a pat on the back. She had been as upset about the situation as Eli was, and applauded him for not taking a more drastic approach. He had wanted to take things further, but even he knew that some things were pushing it to far and he didn't want to lose his prefect badge.

"I was actually talking about getting into the houses, not becoming a prefect," Raven replied matter-of-factly but then finished," thank you anyway." She thought for a moment about nothing in particular but then told him," That doesn't sound like much work, I thought that it would have more opportunities than just that. That doesn't sound particularly nice of him but that charm was a bad idea, especially according that some males like pink." To her Elijah seemed quite nice but she wasn't about to get comfortable, she valued the information highly though." What classes are there? How often do we get to use magic?" she continued to overload him with questions, although she knew that she would be in Slytherin she had always been told that she acted like a Ravenclaw. She could only dream....

Brand listened to Elijah drone on about being a prefect."That's all very good, but it sounds really boring. Being looked up to, and it's not like I'm going to get any respect in the first place. I'll be place in Hufflepuff at most!" He knew Hufflepuff had a reputation of being the stupidest and least useful, odd when you consider that fact his dad was going to go to Eton and was too. "Plus, then I'd have to be a model student! That would be dreary!" @Morte Angelis

Raven heard his reply and noticed that she wasn't the only one going to be placed somewhere she didn't want to be," Hey, it could be worse, at least you won't be placed in Slytherin, I wish I could say the same for myself. I know that I'm going to be put in Slytherin and anyway, what's wrong with Hufflepuff? They're loyal, kind, caring, they're practically everyone's best friend." She would personally choose Hufflepuff over Slytherin any day, Hufflepuff had a way better reputation at the very least.

" Well there is more to the job I suppose, but some of it is stuff we can't exactly tell others. As for house placement; since I forgot to mention it earlier, it can vary depending on the person. Some people have families who have had one member after the next put into the same house; like the Weasley's, and then there are those who have had members in all four houses. I don't believe it's genetically based, and the hat reads the kind of person you are, then puts you in the house it thinks will be most beneficial to your growth. "

Scratching Joseph under the chin since he was getting fussy, he continued and smiled at the two young students.

" So, just because one of your parents was in a specific house does not necessarily mean you will end up in the same one. I have one friend in my house whose mother was a Ravenclaw and his father a Slytherin. Talk to the hat and see what it tells you. It never hurts to ask the questions that might be bothering you. "

Turning his attention to Brand and letting Joseph go off to investigate Gizmo, a frown formed on his lips.

" Just because you don't think a specific house is all that important of exciting, doesn't mean that it isn't. Cedric Diggory was in hufflepuff, as were many other brave people who helped Harry Potter all those years ago. Despite what you might be told, one house is not better than the rest, and just because a house has a stereotype, does not mean that members of that house live up to that stereotype or believe that it's true. "

Joseph sniffed Gizmo and batted at him a little before settling down to lick him so he could get him clean.

Stella smiled. "I like you." She then opened up the Quibbler, reading a story about some new animal discovery of somesorts. She then looked back up at the two of them. "So, do you have a favorite class? I love Transfiguration. Pip here likes to be turned into a teacup sometimes."

Layla smiled at Stella's comment. When she asked what her favorite subject was she had to think about it for a moment. "I have always liked the Care of Magical Creatures class, though I have to ask something. Does the school really offer a Muggle Studies class, like where you learn about muggles and how they go about their daily lives? I have heard people talk about it but seeing as I am muggle born it has never been offered to me of it actually exists." She knew they were lower years than her but she had a knack for being able to tell who was muggle born and who wasn't. Even the half bloods she could pick out. Muggle borns had a different way of thinking and looking at things that the pure bloods and sometimes even the half-bloods. These two seemed more on the pure blood side of the scale than anything and she had yet to be wrong on the subject so she just assumed she was right and thus figured they would know about the class and whether it actually existed.

Stella smiled and nodded. "Yes! There is a muggle studies. Kids who grow up in the magic world don't know much how muggles think and work. Some people are really interested in the sort of thing. Like the function of a rubber duck. I just like how they look and squeak. Anyways, I like that class, too. My parents are magizoologists. I like dragons. Sometimes I think dragons would make fun pets. But then I remember they breathe fire. My mom likes to talk about thestrals. Did you know they drive the carriages to Hogwarts?" Stella knows that she goes off topic sometimes. But she loved to talk about creatures and all things related.

"Why can't you tell anyone?" Raven asked Elijah thoughtfully, at least now she knew that she might possibly have a chance of not going into Slytherin." No one likes Slytherin though so wouldn't that be a reason that makes Slytherin worse than the other houses?" she hoped that he would continue to say that all of the houses are equal," What are the stereotypes for each of the houses anyway? Also, why are Parselmouths rare?" she knew that Elijah still hadn't answered her other questions but she didn't know how long this train ride was going to take and she wanted to learn as much as she could while there was still time. She knew that she wouldn't be in Gryffindor as her personality had already proven that and she doubted that the Slytherin Prefects if there were such things would be this nice.

"It is hard to choose a favorite. But I would say the Antipodean Opaleye. Such beautiful and gentle creatures. I heard they are easy to tame." Stella flipped through a couple pages of her magazine. "Sometimes I think I might become a dragonologist, or maybe a professor. It is a difficult decision, what to do with one's life after school."

Layla listened to the two speak she didn't have a favorite magical creature, not to mention a favorite dragon. And she had no clue what she was going to do after school. Would she return to the muggle world, go to college and get a job there or would she remain in the wizarding world. She wasn't exactly sure. Though she had always thought that being a professor at Hogwarts would be a fun option. And since the Muggle studies class actually existed, who better to teach it than a muggle born. She kept theses thoughts in her head, focusing her attention on Staz who was staring down Stella's hedgehog. She poked his middle, which he wasn't to happy about, however, it got his attention off of the little rodent.
