Edict would turn around to find a fist in his chest. The Hunter staggers back, the punch had knocked the air out of him. He narrows his eyes at the woman before doing a sweep of his leg, hopefully sending the woman to the ground. If the leg sweep is successful, Edict will pin her to the ground.

"Calm the fuck down. Crazy bitch...", Edict tightens his grip on the girl and looks up towards Tiarrian. "Once upon a time a demon named Ahsan had been sent to a small town to gather info for a larger demon. The larger demon needed to know the town defenses, if there were magic users, shit like that. I happened to be staying in such town. Ahsan snuck into my room at the inn and found himself at the wrong end of my sword. I let him live and now he's basically my little errand boy. That was Ahsan. I need information about who constructed this attack. To be honest, this town is probably fucked." Edict then looks down to Jade. "I know you'd like to stay in this position all day, sweetheart, but I'd really like to know if you're going to attack me if I let you up."

Durin hadn't really been paying attention to the going ons around him. The adrenaline was starting to wear off and the gaping, bleeding hole in his chest was starting to hurt like a bitch and his mind felt like it had been overstuffed like a pillow made by a child with too many feathers at his disposal. He was also pretty sure that the blood loss was beginning to make him dizzy, but that could just as easily be dehydration. But he still probably had some time before it would do any more lasting damage than there already was. Suddenly his eyes focused (he could have sworn they weren't unfocused just a second ago) and he realized the gnome looked like she was about to draw her blade. Was she going to attack him? Were there more skeletons?

Durin turns around, ready to smash a skeleton (or backstabbing gnome) in the face, using his shield arm as a blunt weapon. It was then that he noticed that there were more people he didn't notice before, most importantly a third girl that was dressed like a harlot with knives strapped on and a man in light armor. What were they talking about? Something about a demon? Did that Icicle shooting bastard come back? No, the whore was hostile towards the armored man. Not really comprehending anything going on, Durin drops his helmet and stops applying pressure to his wound, dropping his center of gravity in a battle stance. He wouldn't be sneak attacked by any damned skeletons.

Zargon, there’s been… a development.

Zargons eyes snapped open. He almost dozed off on one of Ghresus’s many bloodied benches. Go figure. He never really noticed how much the whole place looked like some sort of demonic church until now; he appreciated the irony.

How very informative. A development. I could tell you about a development of a human and his warts, too.

Ghresus resisted the urge to roll his eyes and went up to Zargon, whispering…

That’s at least three developments! They all had to come at the same time?!

Zargon stood up and paced up and down the isles, musing, while Ghresus looked expectantly at him.

Right… lock this place and Craxis’s place down. Have any demon that tries to get in eradicated on the spot after you call everyone we have in. The operation’s now shortened; we’re starting the next part after the meeting. Have Craxis steer Jelthor to the caves, but don’t let him find it, just steer him so the ‘heros’ can at least heavily weaken the dragons and Jeltheor. I want everyone who has any loyalty to me here, that means take all agents out of the human rea-

What about our established one? There has to be someone to stay. It’s going to look suspicious when everything we have is pulled out of hell and the mortal realm to every single party already.

Fine, fine, keep that one in, but everyone else I want to see here this time tomorrow. Just arrange for the nosy one to vanish, I don’t care about him.

As you wish. Oh, and there was one more thing… it actually might be important.

Oh, now you tell me. What is it?

I’m not of the old days and I personally haven’t met one, but a fwe of our spies reported something odd that happened not too long ago. Some sort of spiritual shockwave. I know one hidden took the brunt and was killed on the spot, but since it didn’t do anything to the humans, I assume it is magical… possibly angelic.

Zargon gave Ghresus an uncomfortable brooding stare.

You had best be wrong… only Archangels create that sort of effect. It doesn’t matter, we’re pulling in anyways. Even if there is one we’ll work around him. Just get working…

A deep boom echoed across the world, faintly audible and almost impossible to catch by anyone without good hearing but one that could be felt much more so in the bones. Not to an extreme, just a little vibration, although those of a magical nature felt it a lot more.

Deep in the northern mountains just beyond Waeldershore, a tall man - taller than even someone who would be tall by Elven standards - rose in a silvery-grey suit of armor, holding his long spear. Looking out at the world, he chuckled. The humans seem to be doing well enough. He saw the town in the distance, although he didn’t notice what chaos had ensued in it, or that anything would have happened there at all.

He could teleport, possibly, but he simply wanted to walk this time. See what the world was like. He hadn’t been here in a long time, after all...

He walked down the mountain path, eventually vanishing deep into paths between rivers and mountains, making no haste to come to the town.

Jade’s attack on Edict didn’t surprise her too much. Edict didn’t seem much the type to care what others thought, and often came off brash and combative. He did try to be discreet, Izzy gave him that much and respected his reasons enough not to press the issue any further than Jade had.

“...To be honest, this town is probably fucked!” he barked at Jade, though his voice radiated to all within the group. Izzy let out a soft sigh and brought a hand to her head, attempting to gently rub a headache out. She came to this island seeking sanctuary. She realized peace would never be an option for her, but she never expected all of this.

She was used to playing the part of the observer. And from where she was sitting, this ‘group’ was falling apart quicker than she could spit. Everyone seemed to be going off in their own direction, more or less concerned with their own selves. She couldn’t blame them really, she would’ve normally done the same. But she knew she couldn’t make it out of this all on her own, and so she tried her hardest to communicate that to Robert. Their conversation was brief and she could tell that her ‘charm’ wasn’t winning any favorites as he turned and left the group.

While Isabeau didn’t trust anyone, she did figure the gnome was the least likely to kill her in her sleep. So she kept close to Tirarrian, with the intention of offering any aid she could. There was something else going on though. She could feel it, though didn’t have the slightest idea what it was or what it meant. But she could feel it, deep in her bones, something more was coming …

And so, she spoke up.

“Alright - I think we all need to calm down here. It’s obvious that what just happened still has all of our nerves on edge. It was only when we were all together that the fucking coward decided that it wasn’t worth it. And if things are as bad as he says they are, we’re going to need to stop being at each others throats if we expect to survive. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I didn’t come here to die, and I’d very much like to live another few months thank you very much.” Her voice grew just as her frustration. “Something is coming, can’t any of you feel it?! Robert said he had a room in the Crazy Cat Inn. Hopefully there is a place still standing in this forsaken town where we can all get some rest. I suggest we go there. There, or someplace where our wounded can get proper treatment.” she grumbled quietly. She was determined to get through this one way or another.

After wandering from place to place in the town Tobias slowed his pace lost in his thoughts muttering to himself "We could just get back on the boat, we came here to try getting ahead of all this.." Katia punched Tobia's arm forgetting he was wearing heavy armor due to her temper she rubbed her sore hand as she continued on at Tobias "No!, i'm not getting back on the ship again, and where would we even go this time?!". Tobias turned to look at her "It's just not safe Kat..." Katia cut in again "No!, i know things were bad back home, and yea this attack on the town was just a taste of what we ran from, but we actually helped people here... i don't wanna keep running i'm tired of it Tobias and i know you are too... so... i mean..." Katia trailed off as if failing to find the words to get her point across when a heavy hand patted her head.

Tobias looked around at the busy street they'd been wandering getting sent from one officials building to another everyone claiming they where too busy to meet with outsiders due to the recent events, "Well our more immediate concern is where are we gonna stay for the night at least, before we decide on any future plans". In the back of his mind though he was hoping that the destroyed building back there wasn't the only pub in the town. Katia smiled at Tobias brimming with confidence "lets go back and ask!, i mean you helped the locals & the guards i'm sure someone back there will recognize ya and help us out?".

Tobias rubbed his forehead unable to come up with a better plan as they where getting nowhere with the town officials on the other end of town, "Seems the best option for now, I really hope we can find a place to stay". Tobias turned and slowly walked back to the scene of the fighting his thoughts now flooding with worry and concern for what the future held for them & for Katias continued safety. Katia on the other hand was her usual cheerful self closely following beside Tobias as they went back, her demeanor was only interrupted briefly by a loud grumbling noise. "Well i hope there's a place that serves food still running, i'm starved!".

After no response from Tabitha, Tirarrian realised there was a story behind this. However, since there was 2 other people following her around who were injured and she didn't have time to hear it. She turned to them "Do you want to go to the other side of the square, I'll do what I can for both of you."

There was probably some kind of shade they could get under too, since it was approaching midday and the others lacked the same headwear as the Gnome. She brushed the feather on her cap, as she always did once immediate danger had passed

Durin stood there on edge, waiting for something to happen. But then nothing did. Was it all a trick? Durin turned back to face the gnome, she didn't seem to be hostile anymore, so he would go with her, for now. He thought over her request for a few seconds before nodding.

"Aye. That'll probably do in the short run. I aught to see a healer later to get this thing properly patched up." Gnomes generally weren't the sort to have extensive knowledge of medicine. They were too squirrely for a practice as delicate as the bodies of other creatures. Asides, they appeared more familiar with machines than people. Why else would they give each other such odd tattoos.

She growled. One of her biggest pet peeves was to be ignored. She had a solid point, and no one seemed to care. Very well...

The gnome spoke up trying to diffuse the situation. "Do you want to go to the other side of the square, I'll do what I can for both of you.". The question prompted her to look over her own wounds which at first she thought were minimal. The scrapes and scratches seemed to be a bit more extensive. Apparently the pain of hunger had overpowered the sting she might have felt radiating down her arm and her backside. But as the blood seeped out of the torn cloth and stained almost everywhere, she nodded to the gnome.

"Aye. That'll probably do in the short run. I aught to see a healer later to get this thing properly patched up.", Durin chimed in.

"We should get somewhere safe. Perhaps to that inn that Robert mentioned? Or I'm sure this bloody town has more than one healers shop that can take care of you properly, sir", she nodded to Durin, glancing over his wound. "We'll leave these two to their own fate. Maybe they'll kill each other, maybe they're destined to fall in love. Either way, waiting for them to settle their squabble only leaves us as open targets. Lead the way, my friend"

She couldn't help but look back at Edict and Jade. She knew that the group would be no match for what lay ahead of them without Jade and Edict. She couldn't fault them though, so many times in the past, her pride, passion, faith ... whatever it was ... it always managed to get her into fights, brawls were more like it, and often at the most inopportune times. One thought... a hope really, lingered with her as she tore her glance away from the two - they would settle things quickly and join the rest before things got even more out of hand than they already have.

It was only a matter of time until the next attack ... until they were all doomed.

There was something sorrowful in Izzy's voice, though Tirarrian had no idea why. She cleared her throat "Yes, Durin. This is your home, lead us where you think best."

As the adrenaline of the fight wore off the Gnome started to feel aches in her small frame, where she'd pulled muscles dodging. Aparrently being cooped up in the cargo bay of a ship wasn't good for me. she mused. As they strode off Tirarrian couldn't help but turn around and say childishly to the wrestling pair "Get a room!" while smirking to herself and burying herself in her bag to prepare various treatments

Siegfried strode into the Crazy Cat Inn wearing a long, black cloak. After taking a seat beside Robert, he waved to a bar wench. "I want milk." he said plainly. Looking to the man beside him, he shrugged. "No sense drinking if you can't get drunk, am I right?" He nudged him lightly with a chuckle. Once his milk was brought to him, he chugged it quickly and slammed the mug down, a temporary white stain adorning his upper lip. He wiped it away with his sleeve as he looked at Robert again. "You look pretty strong. Think you can help me with a job?" He waited to see the man's reaction with a small smirk.

Durin looked at the two women, his mind in a haze. Why were they looking at him like that? Suddenly he was supposed to be leading them somewhere? He had been pretty certain that he was just following them. He dug through his own mind for a few seconds before he remembered that there was supposed to be some sort of healer's shop near here run by a pale elf woman. He blinked a few more times before he remembered where it was. Wordlessly, the dwarf began to hobble off through the debris towards the store without waiting for either Tirarrian or Isabeau to catch up to him.

Robert couldn't catch sleep. He lay on his bed constantly drifting in and out of sleep. He decided that he might just go downstairs drink some strong booze. Go get drunk and try it again. He didn't take his sword with him. Because it would start whining again. He walked down the stairs went to the bar ordered some beer. And started drinking. He then noticed someone entering the room. He looked very weird for a human. He then sat beside him. witch really surprised him. He then ordered milk." Wow what a wimp"'He thought to himself as he finished his drink. He was about to leave when He said. "No sense drinking if you can't get drunk, am I right?" This made Robert laugh a little and decided to order another drink. He then asked Robert if he could help him with a job. Robert Raised and eyebrow and without looking to him said." That depends How much i get paid"

No sooner had Tirarrian asked the Dwarf to take the lead did he turn and walk away. The strong silent type, without a doubt she thought to herself. While rummaging through her bags the Gnome's curiosity got the better of her (as is so common with her people in general). "So, Durin. I made an educated guess about whether you actually lived here. I'll assume that you do, so tell me, how does a Dwarf end up settling in a marshy out-of-the-way human settlement?"

Isabeau pulled her hood back over her head, tucking whatever out in the open strands of hair neatly within the soft black cloth that managed to hide most of her features. Her injuries weren't anywhere near as bad as the dwarf's, but they somehow still managed to slow her down some.

She lagged behind the two, though it wasn't completely unintentional. She had to be sure - sure they weren't being followed, or tracked, or hunted, or worse ... watched. Her eyes darted along the beaten path ahead of them, then to each side, glancing down the abandoned alleyways, still full of corpses.

Night was finally upon them, and it was beautiful. Perhaps only because of the dreary scene that surrounded them, but non the less, it brought her comfort. The smoke had finally started to clear, allowing one to see the stars that had blanketed the sky that night. Bright and vast, expanding along the horizon and away from the town, as if to escape death's grasp.

Izzy drifted elsewhere as her gaze was lost in their twinkling light, leaving her a bit farther behind than she intended. Tirarrian's words interupted her thoughts and she ran to catch up to them. Quietly she followed along. She hated healers, never truly could pin point why, but for the most part, she didn't trust them. Unfortunately for her, she was never really good at patching herself up. Maybe the basic balm and bandage here and there. But any trip to an infirmary usually had her pouting and whining like a child. There was something else to it this time though. She didn't want anything to do with their war, and now she was smack in the middle of it. Who were these people really?! Caution and paranoia usually paid off, but she was completely in the dark here and had no idea what to expect. So she suddenly found herself quite curious with the dwarf's answer to the question asked.

"Half the bounty." Siegfried said with a smirk. "We both leave happy, right?" Looking around, he frowned. "Normally, I wouldn't ask but what man can take on a Grand Basilisk alone? No actual bounty yet but there's much you can take from the beast once it's slain to sell in the market for a hefty price. It's venom is the priciest." He looked at Robert again with a smile. "And if you say it's from a Grand Basilisk, the price should be ten times the average basilisk venom price." He leaned his head back with a stretch. "You in? You can bring however many people you want. If you know any friends that'd be willing to fight alongside you, that is. I mean, this is a Grand Basilisk."

Durin didn't actually comprehend that the gnome lady was talking to him. Sounds were coming out of her mouth, but they didn't really fit together to form words that communicated ideas. They just sat there in the air like clouds. Thus, like clouds, they flew right over his head. He was more concerned with finding his way to the elf-lady's shop. He hadn't been there but once and it wasn't the most stand-out building in this district, so he'd need to be vigilant if he was going to find it without passing it and getting lost.

The elf-lady's shop was a modest, but sizable building located in between the butchery and the bank, perhaps an intentional location choice on the part of the store owner. It would be a nondescript building constructed of wood and faded red brick had it not had a large anatomically correct heart painted above the door, with a sign posted in front labeled Kayleth's Hospital and Apothecary is flowery script that only an elf would use. It had a few superficial burns and was covered in a layer of ash, but otherwise looked untouched. Durin took one look at the building and spit some phlegm into the dirt before heading in.

The inside of the building smelled like a mix of blood, burning substances, sterile chemical, herbs and melted wax all mixed together in one amalgamation that hit the nose hard in such a way that it took several seconds of sustained thought to decipher just what the smell truly was. Behind the counter was the pale, gracefil, but tired looking elf who ran the store. Her hands past the wrist were covered with the stains of blood and her clothes had splatters of all sorts of human fluids on it. Despite this she managed to retain an air of near regalia and warm approachability. She glanced at Durin and Isabeau (assuming she enters the shop right after Durin) once before lifting up the small countertop and waving them to enter the room that lay behind.

"It's going to be a bit crowded," she said to them before she directed her attention downward (assuming Tirarrin is in the shop). "Are you injured too? Or are you merely ill? My stock of medicines for illnesses are still quite full. Perhaps some intestinal problems?"

Durin remained silent throughout the jounrney, despite several questions from Tirarrian. Maybe he Didn't want to be talked to? Maybe he just didn't care? Either way, it wasn't long before they reached a small apothecary. Hmph, she thought, Clearly doesn't trust me enough.

A sign outside read "Kayleth's Hospital and Apothecary", though it was hard to imagine how one person would have the time to manage both an apothecary and a hospital. The party stepped and was greeted by the monstrous stench that seemed to live in every hospital. Blood, sickness and the occasional waft of herbs was an overpowering stench that Tirarrian's more sensitive gnomish nose still hadn't become used to, even though she was often called in to help with treatment if there was an emergency in the town she was visiting. Most doctors tried to burn strong incense, but if Kayleth was doing so, it was very difficult to tell.

Assumedly an elf named Kayleth waved a blood soaked hand at the group reminding Tirarrian why she didn't do heavy duty medical work. She laughed in her head as she imagined blood comically flying everywhere as her hand went back and forth. The elf leaned over the counter towards the Gnome, "It's going to be a bit crowded," she started, "Are you injured too? Or are you merely ill? My stock of medicines for illnesses are still quite full. Perhaps some intestinal problems?" Tirarrian laughed at the last one. "No, I am quite fine. I can take a hint, I can get out of your hair if you want me to." The elf woman smiled apologetically, and Tirarrian left.

As she left she started to put plans into motion. Perhaps it would be worth talking to the guard captain about the attack? She headed off to find some guard to tell her the way. Still, Durin had clearly not trusted her to treat his wounds, and while she too believed he was in better hands in that hospital, why had he thought that? Harrumph!

Isabeau kept close to the two as they arrived at the apothecary. Unfortunately, her questions went unanswered, but, as she entered the small shop, she had a feeling she was going to get a bit more than she was looking for. That smell for one thing .... well, she could put this at the top of her list of reasons why she hated being here.

The smell itself wasn't what bothered her so. It wasn't pleasant by any means, but it was the memories it brought back more than anything else. Her lips twisted into a frown, which may or may not have been noticed before she brought her cowl up to cover her nose.

"It's going to be a bit crowded," an elven woman said to them before she directed her attention to Tirarrian. "Are you injured too? Or are you merely ill? My stock of medicines for illnesses are still quite full. Perhaps some intestinal problems?". Elves had a tendency to be self righteous, and arrogant. Izzy eyed the woman carefully ... she didn't see any of those things, but there was something else hiding behind her eyes. Just then Tirarrian spoke up, interrupting her thought. "No, I am quite fine. I can take a hint, I can get out of your hair if you want me to." Damn gnome, running off all the time ... always thinking the worst, she snickered softly. If only she wasn't injured, she would've followed Tirarrian right out of there. But there were worse fates Izzy could think of than being stuck in a stuffy, smelly, overcrowded apothecary. And this would probably be the place where she'd have to be to see that nothing else came to fruition. Better to be stuck in here than to die of stupidity and pride she thought to herself. She nodded to the elven woman and stuck herself on a stool in some uncluttered and unoccupied corner.

More wounded started pouring in through the doors only moments after Davik had finished explaining the situation to Kayleth. He wanted to help, but he knew she was right. He would only worsen things if he tried anything. As they came in, one by one, she brought them to the back, applying bandages and salves where needed, spending most of her time with the heavily wounded.

There was one thing he could do, here were most of his men in one place. Those who were able to, were to help Kayleth with the wounded, others, he'd gather reports from. Any and all knowledge of this threat would be needed if they were going to defeat these monsters. His injuries wouldn't stop him from writing at the very least. Now if only he could round up the group of civilians from the inn.

The back room was filling quickly, and despite all that he was able to gather, the captain didn't have much to report back to the mayor. It was the same thing over and over again. The skeletons and demons that were fought by the townspeople and guards were all pretty tough, some were meant only to spread fire and chaos throughout the town, others did more damage. There were quite a few casualties, unfortunately there was just no way to tell yet how many laid dead in the streets.

Many of the guards that came in were carrying civilians that had suffered more injuries than they themselves seemed to have, and there was a small group who were barely touched at all. Davik sent these men to round up and calculate the dead. Efforts were undergone right away to try and clean up the carnage left by the attack. He was sure it was only a matter of time until something else happened, and dead bodies just laying around wouldn't do any good for morale. Davik himself stayed with the wounded in the back, but as time passed, he grew restless and was tired of being useless. Despite his injuries and Kayleth's warning, he moved swiftly and carefully over to those in the cots, and did whatever he could to help.

The front door opened once more, leaving a look of gloom all over Davik's face. He wasn't sure if the hospital could treat, or even fit anymore wounded. And he was tired of all the bad news. Luck however, finally seemed to be on his side. While they were injured, the next three that came in didn't seem to be part of his guard force, nor did he recognize them. Kayleth quickly addressed each of them. A dwarf, whom he saw battling some ice demon. He did seem a bit familiar but couldn't quite place it. Just behind him entered a woman, she was covered head to toe in dark clothes which seemed to be drenched in sweat and blood, dirt and soot. She had an axe strapped to her back. Perhaps she was part of the group that attacked the demon in the inn? Last to enter was a gnome. She -didn't- seem all that injured and turned back out the door after a quick exchange with Kayleth.

"Kayleth, if those people are who I think they are, I'd like to speak with them when you're finished tending to their injuries" he whispered to the woman and slipped back behind the curtain.

((Back in the Crazy Cat Inn))

There wasn't much hustle and bustle in the past couple of days. But since the explosion in the Ugly Mug, well ... The Crazy Can Inn attracted all sorts of crowds, those trying to escape from the attack, those just trying to get drunk during the attack ... The large room reeked of stale ale, sweat, some parts even held the stench of vomit and urine. Simply said, the Crazy Cat Inn wasn't the greatest place to be in. The food certainly wasn't as good as the Ugly Mug, but who could complain when they weren't being set on fire and chased out by a huge ugly demon. It was good enough for now.

One guest in particular, an old lanky man, perhaps in his late 60's sat at a table, quite near a couple of other adventurers. His bald head, sporting multiple age spots and spurts of silver hair here and there was snugly hidden beneath his hood and his salt and pepper beard lay matted and mangled on his chest. He seemed to fit right in with his surroundings, perhaps part of the wall decor, his smell even matched that of the tavern. But as he crept closer to the two who spoke discretely of a bounty to be had, one might think there was more to this old man than what he led on.

"If coin is what you seek, there is rumor of a bounty worth much much more than that of a 'Grand Basilisk'. Hidden deep within the mountains, you'd find gold and jewels beyond your imagination, enough to make you rich beyond your wildest dreams, not to mention the bounty in which I'd like for you to procure. So what do you say, boys?"

Kayleth briefly wondered why the gnome was here if she hadn't been injured, but after a second figured that she was guiding the two injured here and left that matter at that. She had two more people to heal and fit in her little crowded store. The past hour had been a chaotic rush of people, and without the dutiful eye of Ashara, they might not have been able to fit adequately fit everyone without further endangering their health with poor conditions. While her assistant was busy with organizing patients, Kayleth treated them, her deft fingers dancing across wounds, mending them as they moved. At the point where Kayleth felt confident she could leave Ashara alone to tend to the injured for awhile, she retired to the front of the store to take a quick break. Which is when the newcomers came in. Evidently, fate saw that she would get no rest for the day.

As Kayleth guided the two people into the apothecary proper, she was approached by Captain Davik, who inquired about speaking to them.

"Who you speak to is none of my business. I don't know who the woman is, but the dwarf has been here a couple times before. I believe he's a resident of Waeldeshore. Now if you're excuse me, I have a job to do." She told Davik before turning around and bringing the two to a lone corner on the far side of the room that remained unoccupied by other people. "Take off your armor and any weapons you may have. Your shirts will have to go too. I need to inspect you for wounds, and clothing gets in the way. Everyone else in here has had to do the same or have it done for them. If you do not do this, I cannot help you." The dwarf harumphed and hoed, but removed his gauntlets quickly enough, but he seemed to be incapable of removing his chest piece.

"If you are physically incapable, I will have my assistant help." Kayleth snapped her fingers and the girl appeared, gently, but firmly adjusting the large dwarf's body so that the stubborn piece of armor could be removed. With her task done, she left to go help the other wounded in the room. As she passed, Kayleth turned to her and said,"When you have the time, bring a suitable change of clothes of the lady."
