To save some time for skimmers like me, I'm planning on playing a male character, so I'll need a female character. This is both a romance and action/adventure story, with an emphasis on the story and less on the killing, and If you can't handle balancing those things without smothering the story in one, this may not be the RP for you. I also would really prefer that you be able to write at least two paragraphs per post, and remain literate for the most part. If you can do those things, then read on, because I'm really friggin' excited about this.

So I've been wanting to do something like this for a while now. I'm a GIANT Percy Jackson nerd, but the fan RP sites I've found for it are absolute garbage. Too many superpowered demigods running around abusing the crap out of powers and basically making a mockery of monsters. Every blade finds its target, every arrow hits its mark, every character gets their happy ending.

Now, I'm not opposed to happy endings, but I definitely like the black and white morality bit a little more. I like characters to earn their happy ending, I like to feel the weight on their shoulders as they overcome this incredible quest that they've been sent on. I love the rush of conquering impossible odds. I just hate the deus ex machina, easy way out route a lot of those sites take. I like imperfect characters. Characters who miss. Characters who make mistakes. Characters who can't solve their problems alone. I like to stay true to how the books were written. Percy, Annabeth, and the other heroes of the story were far from perfect. Sure, you can kill that Drakon, but it's not gonna be easy, even if the prophecy says so.

This RP would be one on one, if the tag didn't tip you off, and it would be based around our two characters, whom we'll create after a you post to show your interest. I plan on playing a male, so I need a female character. Just a heads up, I am not opposed to mature themes, so long as it's okay in the context. Swearing is fine, but don't drop the f-bomb in every bit of dialogue you have. It makes it hard to take a post seriously if every other word is nonsensical cursing. PM me if you want to add something like that to the RP, but keep in mind I don't want it to detract from the story.

Now, if you've read this far, I've hopefully managed to hold your interest so far. Now, I'll dip in a bit to the plot. (We'll do an OOC for discussing this later on, and I'm open to making changes)

Now, this takes place before the events of the Percy Jackson series, because I want to be completely separate from that. We won't meet those characters, besides the gods and Chiron and other immortals like that.

...I'd never felt threatened by the oracle's presence, but I'd heard stories: Campers who had gone insane, or seen visions so real they died of fear...

The horror stories of the Oracle are not in the distant past. The quests she sends heroes on are often horrific, unsuited for normal kids, or indeed, normal adults. That doesn't mean they're any more bearable for demigod heroes, who are, after all, just kids, as well.

This is a story about one of the quests that went sour at the start.

Darkness is covering the United States. Huge clouds loom over even the largest of cities, and something ominous comes with them. The sun is nearly blotted out, and not even Apollo can manage to pierce the veil of darkness. Earth sits in perpetual twilight. Storms are brewing. Incredibly powerful hurricanes batter the coast, tornadoes rampage throughout the midwest, and blizzards blanket the north in snow.

The Titan Helios has been missing for centuries, but rumors float around that he may still be around, perhaps plotting something, although why is up to anyone's best guess. Rumors could be just that... Rumors.

Mount St. Helens has been eerily still throughout these storms. The clouds seem to originate from there, and yet they do not affect the prison of the old Titan Typhon. Something dark is happening there, and someone needs to find out what. A quest was sent out by Camp Half Blood.

Our characters don't know each other that well. They were just peers, with a mutual friendship with Brian James, a confident, strong, and, well, pretty much your perfect hero. A son of Ares, he was tall, strong, a hit with the girls, and he even managed to be the quarterback on the varsity football team at his old school before the opposing team at his first game turned out to be a pack of hellhounds disguised by the mist. Of all the campers at Camp Half Blood, he was deemed the MOST capable.

He announced his companions, both of our characters, whom he deemed his most trusted friends. The camp roared in applause as he stomped confidently up to the Big House to hear his prophecy.

However, there was no wait for his return. Out of character for the Oracle, this prophecy boomed over the camp, so that all could hear it.

Two of three shall travel forth
To defeat the light that that brought birth
Travel west
To rain you shall go
Where the point stands high
Sun turned to woe
A challenge from the sky
Not one, but all, shall defeat the foe
Light shall come again and the darkness go

The camp was eerily silent as it settled, and nobody spoke for what felt like an eternity. Eventually, somebody pointed out that Brian had not returned from the Big House yet. They had all heard the prophecy, surely he should have as well? Eventually, Chiron went up himself to search for the boy.

Half an hour later, the Centaur trudged out of the Big House, a dead demigod in his arms. Brian was dead.

Two of three shall travel forth...

If you like the idea, shoot me a post, this is all kinda boiling down in my head, so I'm not sure if it will be any good yet, but, yeah! let me know if you're interested!
