What this really seems to come down to sounds like this: just because you don't have the time/equipment to manage an RP in depth, it doesn't mean you should try to anyway. Making broad, sweeping announcements and judgements based on limited information results in situations like this.

• Much of the lore is rather cliche, and is clearly lifted from various other fantasy sources, or are childishly opposed to traditional fantasy cliches in obvious attempts to be divergent. Just because you've written a lot about something doesn't necessarily mean it's good.
• Posting a small fraction of the aforementioned "lore" and then making constant corrections to players when they are in conflict with information that they did not have access to isn't a bright policy. Nor is making constant unsubtle references to future plans in a game with about three players, that will probably sink down to the depths of the archives within the next week.
• Not making any player define the limits of their characters (and even so, not reading whatever they write), and then becoming upset at the results is really only the result of miscommunication. Detailed Character Sheets are needed for exactly this reason.
