They -are- flashbacks. It's all we're supposed to post until the IC actually gets into motion. However, posting one flashback is encouraged.

Oh, gotcha.

Sorry everyone, loooong day.

@Tomahawk Fort Leonard Wood in this storyline/world was transfered to the Marine Corps, similar to the way in REALITY Miramar was has been transferred to the Marines from the navy. I just did it because a buddy of mine used to always talk about how the Marines should take over Fort Leonard Wood. This is because there are several Marine Corps training facilities there, most of which I THINK have to do with AMTRAKS. As Marines we hated that place because A: there isn't SHIT to do there and B: we're surrounded by soldiers on their base and they hate us.

For the conflict in Syria, I did not go into detail and will not. So. If you feel like making up the specifics, go ahead and do it. This is part of what I like to do with my RPs and players. I do not mind them filling in blanks as they see fit, ESPECIALLY if it helps them personalize a character and/or that character's experiences. Let me know your thoughts on this.

@Vandy I SEE THIS AS ATTEMPTED MUTINY AND YOUR CHARACTER WILL DIE IMMEDIATELY AS PENALTY! Joking, but let me go into some details about immunity. Basically though, at this point in the game, people who are immune will be the majority of the survivors because of the nature of the infection.

It happened everywhere, to everyone, at the same time. Were you already in a bunker? Then you still may have been exposed. Keep in mind that once Person A is infected, they may show now signs. This means that for anywhere from several hours to 2 days, they are going about their business. In doing so, they are spreading the infection through the air. Contact. Fluid exchanges. Essentially, any person around them is exposed and infected.

As @Tomahawk and @Vilhelm mentioned, there's more to that. You CAN still get bitten and die, and then you'll rise, even if you ARE immune. You could be immune, be shot in the heart, and then reanimate.

Being immune doesn't mean you will not reanimate. It means you will not be infected.

Additionally. If Person B is bit, and immune, they get sick. During that time, they are contagious and actively spreading the infection. So if they are near Person C, who is not immune, C is still getting sick, even though B is immune.

And yes. Immune people can still starve, bleed out, be shot, have a heart attack, commit suicide, etc.

Some could argue that being immune is a curse because, well, you're living through all of the horrible shit that everyone misses because they were lucky enough to just fucking die.

And honestly, in a world like this, worrying about zombies is, at BEST, maybe a 33% thing. If there are no zombies, what are you eating? What are you doing when there's a blizzard, or drought? The environment is a factor. That's a third of the issue, maybe more depending on where a person is at and what environmental factors they face.

Then, there are humans. I am not sure about you, but if there is you and I, in this world...and I have a gun and training, and no conscious, and you have food...best case, you lose your food. Worst case, you die. There is a difference too between humans and zeds.

Humans will actively hunt you. They'll use traps. They'll use cunning.

So. >IF< a player has that "IDGAF, my char is immune lololz." Good. Then they'll still likely end up in some trap sprung by a bandit somewhere.

Also, the Mackey report said 5-8% were immune. The report also says they don't know a lot. They don't even know how many "types" of different infected there are. In short: the Mackey report was done with haste with as much information as could be gathered at the initial stages of the outbreak.

They may not know shit.

5-8% could ACTUALLY be 10-15%. Numbers could be skewed because, as stated, an immune person CAN still die and turn, which may be misconstrued as "being infected." This also means little because if hypothetically, there was a SWITCH and instantly, 10% of the people were immune, the other 90% were infected, that doesn't mean 10% of the worlds population is alive. Because in this hypothetical situation, that 90% starts eating. And that 10% quickly plummets down to a lower number.

@ChaoticFox and @Augmented and I think a few others who have posted in the IC, I am getting there. Like I said, long day, lots of OOC stuff, applicants and samples to read. When I personally read your post, I'll give it a LIKE so you know this. I may forget, but for the most part, I'll be doing that.

I encourage you all to do the same.

@Vandy I know it was mentioned by others, but just confirming. Right now the IC is open to approved characters ONLY FOR POST IN THE PAST! Nothing posted should be before November 3rd, 2017, because this is the day the RP "starts" IC. Make sense?

@Halcyon You don't have to do a sample, we're RPing together. Just focus on your char and being sexy. Not necessarily in that order.

As for a timeline, simply put: I'm not sure. I have, offhand, maybe 2 or 3 other players, who are in the process of submitting characters and samples.

Once I LOCK OUT THE RP to new players/chars, It'll be a week or less. At that point, I just want to get my head around stuff, address any concerns and make sure we're all moving in the same general direction. I plan on locking out the RP soon, within a few days.

And one more thing. If you sent me a PM, a character, or sample, and haven't heard from me, please feel free to send me a PM, poke me, whatever.

My inbox is chaotic as hell, and I don't want to lose anything.

Same thing with posting approved chars and stuff. Be patient, but if you suspect I am overlooking something, I will never be upset or snap at you for trying to help me run the RP.

Thanks.

@Azseth

Thanks for the information about Leonard Wood in our universe, very helpful.

As far as the war in Syria goes, I can certainly expand upon it in my first character's biography. He's a veteran, and part of his recent past involves being roped back into war via stop-loss - so I can flesh that out, no problem.

Speaking of your character, I'm writing a secondary character, a young girl - probably fourteen or fifteen. Interested in perhaps pairing them together before we start?

Here's my first character, Iraq/Afghanistan/Syrian war veteran/history teacher Jonathan Robin York, prefers Robin. My next character will be far less equipped to deal with combat, I'll probably crank her out tomorrow, and then I'll hook you up with a sample post, @Azseth.

New chapter in Triss' story released in IC! And I have a feeling that it would make sense for Triss and Leon to find each other. I dunno, just thinking out loud. Think what you will.

Vandy Post Apocalyptic Superman

@Azseth
Name: Stacey Schroder

Group: Walkers (With Father Logan Dubois and Kevin Fairbanks, perhaps more)

Age: 24

Occupation: Cop

Family Life: Single, dead parents

Hair: Black

Eyes: Green

Weight: 157 lbs.

Picture:

Blood Type: B-

Immune: No

Gear: One backpack filled with canned foods and bottled water. Two changes of clothes, (one police uniform and two civilian outfits) One Glock 22 sidearm with three full magazines (45 bullets) two pairs of handcuffs and the key, one police Taser, one police Kevlar vest and her father’s badge. One Bowie combat knife. She also has a full bottle of shampoo, a girl needs to stay clean.

Bio:
Stacey was originally born in Chicago, Illinois. She was the only child raised in a law enforcement family so it was pretty apparent that she would become a cop when she got older. Her dad was a detective for the Vice department and had spent years chasing down the various organized crime organizations in the city. Eventually he was promoted to lieutenant of the entire department.

Before her freshmen year I high school, her dad quit the force due to differences in “philosophy” with his boss who had let yet another criminal go without trial. He thought that the CPD had become corrupt, and fairly so as the amount of bribes going through the force was staggering. He received a job offer from a small town in Louisiana a few weeks later which he accepted wanting to get as far away from Chicago as possible. This caused some controversy in the family between her father and mother but they ended up making the move.

She started high school in Louisiana with no friends and a northern accent. She played softball throughout school and had the occasional boyfriend here and there (most of which were run off by her dad) but other than that her school career was pretty average.

She went to college in state because of her pretty average grades and graduated two years ago. She returned back and became a patrol comp in her town. She had a very clean record and was considering making a move to New Orleans to become a “big city cop” like her dad was in Chicago. These plans were stopped with the Rising. She was on patrol when it happened, driving past the local church. She saw a priest and a few other people running out and stopped to rescue them. It was a tight fit but they escaped.

Her father was the man who set up a small colony in the local Catholic high school. There were about sixty survivors there and the majority slept on the gym floor. The priest that she had rescued, Father Logan, began giving mass in the small chapel on campus but that was literally the last thing she was interested in. Stacey’s father put her in charge of the “away team” which basically meant she was the head scavenger. They usually went out in groups of four or five to the local grocery or gun stores for the first few months before they had to travel further out. They had a few casualties here and there but they were generally successful.

On their way back to the school one day, they met a group from Texas who was more interested in stealing from other groups than scavenging. Their first contact went poorly, Stacey had to kill three of them and lost two of her own before the fight was over. This started a war between the two groups that lasted for the last month of the colony.

Her father died in the bandit attack and she took his badge from his corpse. The school was eventually overrun by both bandits and zombies before she made a run for it. She saved a kid named Kevin from getting his face chewed off and the two of them ran to the supply room to pack. Unfortunately they were trapped by a bandit with a shotgun held to their face. This time it was Stacey who was saved by the priest. He ran behind the man and hit him in the head with a baseball bat killing him instantly. Something that affected the priest in a very negative way.

The three eventually escaped the attack in her cruiser and have been traveling ever since. The car ran out of gas about a month ago with no station or other vehicle in site. Now the three are walking together through Missouri.

Personality:
Stacey inherited her father’s no-nonsense cop attitude and has no hard feelings showing it. She is quite nice to those she considers friends but has a hard time trusting newcomers, something her and Logan disagree on frequently. She is extremely loyal to those close to her. She has a less strict moral code than the priest and is often willing to kill those that attack them, another disagreement point. She also considers all religion as a waste of time, obviously another disagreement. She and the priest have agreed to avoid this topic, surprisingly at his request. She also likes to keep up her appearance, and has to keep her hair clean. Hence the search for shampoo and body was during every scavenging run.

@Tomahawk - I need a sample from you, but in the interim, everything looks well with Robin.

@Vandy - Stacey is approved. Go ahead and put her in the the other meat.

Gunna work on an IC post, then another character for the Walkers.
