So, I'm sure you all know why your here, if not check here.

Here's the agenda:
  • World 'genre'- High Fantasy
  • World Name- Marduk
  • Tech/Magic/Ect. Level-High Magic, Low to Medium Tech
  • Map? (May be change if we decide to move in a different direction.)

Once we get enough figured out, I'll start posting in the IC to keep track of things.

Idea's we are working on.

Well, from the fact it's world-building, I'm going to assume that speculative fiction is a given. Personally, I prefer fantasy over sci-fi, though that can be largely ascribed to getting side-tracked onto actual science too often. XD

I'm up for any genre really, I'm not crazy about writing fantasy stuff but I don't mind it that much either.

Personally I prefer high fantasy and soft sci-fi, but that's mostly because that gives a lot more room to work with (and lets you be a bit wacky if need be), but I'm willing to work with other genres if it comes down to it. Although urban fantasy has always been a weakness of mine (I grew up with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, what can I say?), but we'll see what everyone else thinks I guess.

I hold a heavy preference for a horror fantasy adventure i feel that horror fantasy allows for a much more loose of what can exist

What do you mean by 'horror fantasy'? Cosmic horror? Dracula? World of Darkness?

So, do we want something that has more or less room for creativity?

I.E. High Fantasy often carries the expectation of certain creatures, races, ect.

Sorry if this sounds funny, I'm on my phone.

Expectations aren't the same as genre requirements. Got plenty of unrealistic stuff going on? High fantasy.

So, the question I should be asking is how much do we want to adhere to expectation. I think it depends on how long we want to be going at this. The farther we stray, the longer it'll take, which is perfectly fine, that's what we are here for.

@Raineh Daze Exactly what you think

But... cosmic horror is very much 'things man was not meant to know', any resistance is futile in the end, and despair.
Dracula is just a sex metaphor.
And the World of Darkness is more about 'what makes a monster?' and morality, amongst the more normal 'inhuman creatures walk amongst us' and the fact normal people are rather like bugs to the older things.

Then there's, say, Ravenloft. It's utterly hopeless, evil is everywhere, you can't trust anything... but it's a D&D campaign setting so 9/10 you'll end up with people beating the crap out of the hellish stuff one way or another. XD

Basically: I don't know what you think I think.

So, the question I should be asking is how much do we want to adhere to expectation. I think it depends on how long we want to be going at this. The farther we stray, the longer it'll take, which is perfectly fine, that's what we are here for.

I'd say just get the genre in general, and we adhere to expectations as closely or as little as we randomly chance it.

I think Horror Fantasy is a little too specific for an entire world. Although, it may be fun to let out all of our dark thoughts and create such a sadistic place.

Eh, I'll admit right now that I wouldn't be able to take such a thing seriously at all. ^^; The more serious and edgy something tries to come off as, the more likely it is that I'm not going to be able to take it seriously.

And I would keep up the gallows humour and black comedy. Horror? Not so much. XD

It looks like we're all set on making a fantasy world either way. I would have liked making a steampunk world, but fantasy's good too,

Nothing saying that a fantasy world has to be based on medieval Europe, so steampunk would still be a viable option if we do end up going with fantasy.

Hell, one of my favourite fantasy settings (at least before they blew it up and replaced it with something stupid) gave humans and dwarfs stuff like steam-powered tanks and gyrocopters, and clockwork horses. And one of the evil races in it were a bunch of ratmen with, amongst other things, flamethrowers, sniper rifles, gatlings, lightning cannons, giant electricity-spewing hamster wheels of death... Ah, good times. ^_^
