It was late afternoon and the cafe was almost barren of customers. The waitresses were practically sitting around, just dying for someone to come in. Their only patron was a tall man with raggedy clothes sitting by the window with a cup of tea sitting in front of him. Takumi was stirring a spoon in the small cup with only two fingers despite no sweetener sitting at the bottom and he had his chin cradled in the palm of his other hand. He was staring out the window and then back at the cup ever so frequently. Takumi came to this cafe every at the same time on the same day of the week and sat at the same table for no reason really. He just liked the quant atmosphere the cafe gave off.
Most of the time, he would order a cup of the cheapest tea and watch the people walk by outside. All sorts of people passed the cafe and Takumi would imagine scenarios in which these people have taken part in. Sometimes he would see couples walking together and come up with the story of how they met and fell in love. Other times he'd see children coming home from school and would think of what they learned that day. Whenever he saw people walking their dogs, however, he would grow uncomfortable. Just the fact that these dogs were chained up and forced to obey their owner's every command made him sick. Perhaps that was because he was more closely related to a canine than he was to a man.
Unlike other humans, Takumi had a secret. He was a werewolf who lived in the forest outside the city. Despite being a wolf, he loved traveling out of the safety of his cave to explore and embrace the culture of the humans. It was way more interesting than hunting for rabbits in the forest all day. But it was dangerous if anyone found out about his secret. That's why Takumi masks himself in a human disguise and only shifts into a wolf when he is back in the forest. Sometimes the man curses himself for being a wolf, as he can't live in the city and talk to humans without being hunted or killed. All he can do is sit in the empty cafe and drink his black, unsweetened tea in peace.
