I'm not exactly the biggest fan of the Ultraman character, and no I'm not talking about the kryptonite snorting Superman knock-off, but ever since I saw old reruns of the classic series as a kid I've always enjoyed the idea of a giant superhero fighting something similar to Godzilla. Recently I've started reading up on the legacy and all of the different variations but I've noticed several movies were made where the Ultras teamed up to stop a common enemy.



What I want to do is something similar. Not all of the Ultras take a human host, but in this RP more than likely you will need to. There are literally dozens of Ultramen to pick from visually [my favorites so far include Xenon, Zero, and Ginga] and it's not required you use their history. In this game we will all hail from the Land of Light and most of us will only be between 500-1000 years old. I'm gonna go ahead and call dibs on Ultraman Xenon for my look. Probably use the alias 'Ultraman Mason' or just Mason for my guy.

I encourage any interested players into reading up a little or just browsing the Ultraman Wikia linked below. Still working on an overarching story. I'm still researching a lot of the material but if anybody else is already a fan let me know if anything you've seen is worth trying to put into our story! Who wants to kick some giant monster ass?

Sweet, if I had another chance at this I'd have tried to go stat based but with this many people already interested we can just roll with Casual. I wish Xenon had his own theme song without having to use Max's but oh well LOL.

When thinking about a place/setting for the game, I was imagining an alien world with several humanoid type aliens hanging around large metropolitan cities with vast jungles and deserts all across the land. Maybe even a city in the clouds eye level with the Ultras, IDK. This is to give anyone freedom of becoming something other than a standard human when using a host. I was actually trying to make sense of one of the older Ultras with horns and thought he'd be cool with an old horned Green Lantern Corps alien as a host. Just a thought...

Here's what I've got for a CS model. While we'll all be fairly young Ultras, some of us could have already ventured off planet and had an adventure or two. My guy will be the 'Ultraman of Eternus' having saved the planet from a monster. The planet we will mostly be battling in will be something of a futuristic and alien world with bright lights, tall buildings, flying cars, etc. The planet itself will be called Docadelfya. Everything will be smaller humanoid sized of course and we'll still be giants, but the alien atmosphere gives you the freedom to do something like make a Vulcan or Ewok looking creature your host.

* Strength: Mason is considered to be one of the strongest Ultras despite his young age.

BRIEF Backstory - Between the age of 500 and 700 years old, Mason began training with Ultraman Toro. Toro tried to get through to the strong young Ultra, but he remained as reckless and as cocky as ever after several wins in the Colosseum. Cocky in fact in that Mason intercepted a distress call from Mega City 5 on the planet Eternus and destroyed a giant creature with little trouble. Upon returning to the Land of Light Mason was scolded by his uncle, the Ultra King. Twenty years later, just after training with Toro began again and Mason received his Sword power, a distress call was sent from Hyper City on the planet Docadelfya.

Touching down on the planet with several other Ultras, Mason took the form of an outlaw who also happened to be good with an ancient Earth instrument [the year is 2066] who played at an all aliens welcomed interstellar bar. Several human looking people were around, but there was at least a dozen alien species living on the planet as well. Mason/Rollins kept his eyes and ears open in case any leads made themselves known about the Ianas Chemical Corp.

Notes - A mega corporation type entity [Ianas Chemical Corp.] will be responsible for creating the monsters we will fight and in the end of the first arc we will take down the superbeast that the CEO of the chemical manufacturer and developer becomes!

Honestly, some Ultras have shown the ability to manifest at a humanoid size. The one that springs to mind is Ultraman Hikari, though Tiga also did it a few times. Then again, Tiga's weird. To be completed tomorrow.

* Lootorium Beam/Barrage/Broadside: Cross's energy attack, Lootorium looks like some sort of gaseous gold. Charging energy on his right arm, he thrusts it out to the side before forming a -| shape with his arms. The beam isn't as powerful as it should be, due to the absence of his left arm. To make up for this, he created the Lootorium Barrage and Lootorium Broadside. The Lootorium Barrage coats his arms and legs in energy, allowing him to fling it off with attacks, effectively punching, kicking, and slashing at range. Infinitely more powerful is the Lootorium Broadside, his ultimate technique- in which he uses the entire right half of his body to charge and fire Lootorium.
* Treasure Sense- An ability valuable to any pirate, Cross knows which items in a pile are most valuable and goes for them immediately.
* Barabas Claw- a claw taken from a monster that lopped off his arm while searching for buried treasure, this hook hand is nearly indestructible.
* The Titan's Rest- Cross's pirate ship, a tremendous battle cruiser with a captain's chair large enough to seat an Ultra. He's left it parked in the desert while his crew's on shore leave.
* While the Ultras trained in the military practice a distinct martial art, Cross's fighting style is one honed in boarding parties and barfights. He fights dirty, using every available advantage to gain the upper hand.

Appearance - I got a picture but I'm gonna scan it tomorrow. The important part is that his head crest naturally forms a pirate hat, he's missing his left arm, and he's got a huge X-shaped scar on his chest.
BRIEF Backstory - Formerly a petty thug, Ultraman Cross got his name after taking two cutter attacks from other Ultras straight to the chest, leaving him with an X-shaped scar below his color timer. Banished from the Land of Light for his crimes 950 years ago, he's spent the better part of the last millennium becoming a pirate king. Turning his back on the Ultramen, he's fully embraced his status as a pirate- even carving his color timer into the shape of a skull. His "Host" is actually an artificial form he assumes.

Do the Ultras have a humanoid appearance underneath the armor and helmets, or are the Ultras in the manga the only ones human underneath? Cause I was reading how one of the Ultras [Zero IIRC] trained in some type of different armor to make him slower...

Well, the red and silver bits ARE the Ultra. It's their skin and face. Essentially, ignore the Manga, it does a loooot of weird things.

Now what about kaiju profiles? I'll make Ultraman Mebius or some other one, but what about the kaiju? Is it limited to just Ultraman kaiju or can it be like OCs and even...

*Whispers 'Godzilla kaiju?'*

Most Ultraman kaiju aren't sentient. For Godzillas, look up "Gomess" or "Astron." Aside from the fact that most Ultraman (and indeed Godzilla) Kaiju aren't sentient, there's ALSO the fact the two don't share a universe. So it'd be kind of like asking to play Super Mario in a Walking Dead RP.

I'm looking over several different Japanese shows that use giant monsters for reference. You might see an enemy that originally appeared on some version of Power Rangers, or a monster from Godzilla's universe. There's a few details in my CS about the setting and where our enemies will come from initially.

You can use any Ultraman as a starting point, but give them their own name and backstory like I did. I'd say only Ultra King and Ultraman Taro are cannon in this game, Taro just being one of the guys who trains us all.

Eh, I just thought there could be a "slight" crossover between the two. Ik most of the Ultraman Kaiju anyways. Gomora, Zeton, Telesodon, Gomess, King Guru, Mephilis, Bellal, etc. So Ik the deal.

I'm still a noob. All I've ever seen is the classic series from '66 and the comic from the 90's. Well, this comic anyway, first time I'd ever seen a blue Ultraman...

Ultraman Hikari, as well as the entirety of the Ultra Science Corps, are Blue Ultras.

I'm not much better- I mean, I've watched Ultra Q and a good chunk of Ultraman, finished out Mebius and Ginga/Ginga S, and seen a lot of Dyna and Tiga.
