"This is confusing - how did this even begin?"
The city of Arbitol was a very secure and blissful area. It was free of disaster. The continent, however, was otherwise. Outside of the city borders prowled various monsters. This had been like this for awhile - however. After fighting off monsters for a long while, mages managed to make a safe zone and build it into the city it is today. The city today a wide area, and due to its powerful fields, is completely invulnerable to infiltration. Rarely did even the most daring adventurer leave its premises. Very few, actually, were aware of the world beyond the force field. People in the town were trained to battle with magic and weaponry, but found little use of it outside of duels. That is, until a strange rip in the sky appeared.
This tear seemed to bypass the protection of the barrier. It spawned various monsters. With the help of civilians, the government managed to clear the streets of danger, but, the city began to collapse from all the turmoil. People were beginning to kill each other for no apparent reason, and even hired mercenaries to protect each other. It seemed as if the shock of monsters caused tension between humans rather than against the monsters. Not all people were this way, however. Those who hid or were rarely outside were usually safe from such conflict, and others tried to keep peace within the world.
After a couple of days of disaster, a strangely dressed man fell out of the portal in the midst of a monster raid. He was severely hurt, and once the monsters were cleared, he sought the attention of all citizens. The man explained his situation.
From a time period no one was sure of, a summoner entered the city of Arbitol. After learning of the ways of the mana field, it was said that he traveled to a new period, and managed to shut down the entire mana supply that was used for it. This allowed him to create a rift and begin to start the flood of monsters. The hero who fell out to the portal had learned of his presence, and gathered his own team of people to take him down. In the future, he was too late on his attack. The doomsday occurred, and the only people alive were the summoners, his group of followers, and the hero. In a failed attempt to take him down, he threw himself into the void and was pulled along into this day.
The hero hypothesized that this day in this timeline, was actually the day before this doomsday. He explained that the wars and such would have to stop, and that if everyone united, they could take down the summoner.
Few heeded the time traveler’s warning. The wars continued. The time traveler was forced to watch the ignorance of the people as his second death approached...
Your character can be in this period of disaster. They can be someone who chose to ignore him, or even someone who hasn't heard of him. You could also be someone who does decide to listen to his words and join this hero, or even a person from a different time period who can be pulled into this void as well. Perhaps a person who was alive on the doomsday, or in a period yet to be discovered.
The void pulls in things from different dimensions and universes, and that could be the cause. An anomaly could happen in the instance where a human is pulled out.
The world itself isn't named Arbitol, but, the city is the only established residence. Formerly a world of turmoil, a group of people with magical prowess began an establishment in an attempt towards creating a world of serenity. They were faced with some difficulties, but, the city was built as well as a barrier. Humans from everywhere managed to get there safely with the help of the said mages, and a new world within a world was born.
Arbitol itself is in a temperate area, with cold winters and fairly warm summers. Outside of Arbitol, it seems like a seasonal cycle takes place, although, it appears that the areas mainly stay the same. Right outside of Arbitol's cliffs and lakes is a massive forest area, with various creatures prowling through. Going farther to the world's borders, the area seems to grow into a sea mountains, suggesting that Arbitol is a city within a forest within a ring of mountains. Most areas outside the said forests are uncharted, however.
Magic is currently unavailable. You may be a spellcaster, but, your spells won’t be able to be used until the mana pool is discovered within the RP. In this world, magic will work off your regular mana system. People who have learned magic will have this energy source in their bodies and be aware of how to utilize it and draw it from their surroundings as well. I’ll let players decide their limit on their own, but, be reasonable. Magic will also take a different effect on people. When hit with a fire spell, rather than literally scorching your skin, it’d be attacking your own spiritual body that you possess. It will fatigue you and leave bruises and such.
As for technology, it will range from crossbows to guns to swords. Bullets in this realm will work similar to magic. This RP will be unrealistic with bullets, where they’re about as effective as arrows damage wise, if not a little less powerful.
Year 0 - Creation
The world was made. It was as if this continent was made in a day. The city is nonexistent, and humans realm this world as well as monsters.
Year 100 - Corrupted
Originally, the humans managed to outweigh the monsters in population and were beginning a civilization. It appears this time has been tampered with. Now, the monsters have conquered this area, leaving little human population.
Year 170 - Corrupted
Humans have developed magic at this point of time, and are beginning to conquer the monsters as they were meant to be. Once again, time has been tampered with, causing the magic they draw out to be absent.
Year 250 - Tranquil
A town has been started, with a dome shaped force field. Monsters still lurk the area. Weaponry has been developed.
Year 300 - Tranquil
City has grown to a massive size, comparable to the ‘present’. Crossbows and steampunk machinery has been created.
Year 415 - Present/Corrupted
What you see in the plot. Fully developed area. Corrupted by the presence of the rift.
[*][b]Year 415 - Doomsday
A desolate area inhabited by only a couple of enigmatic beings. Technology is present, but the city is in ruins.
Year 450 - Conquest
Summoner has reached immortality. Using his newly found power, he has created his own utopia, a remodel of the world before in his own eyes.
Year 500 - Corrupted
The utopia has turned to be a dystopia. Almost a repeat of the present, turning to corruption once more. It appears there is a greater force…?

Our central starting point would mainly be in the beginning of this doomsday. There, we'd find the reason behind the strange disasters and attempt to stop it. As for characters from different time periods, it's assumed that they've been pulled through the Void and are now in the 'modern' era.

Name: Kuro Nakamura
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Personality: Kuro is a rather curious individual. His mind is always trailing on something. Often, he’ll find himself deep in thought, sitting still for long periods of time. As he travels through places, he often studies people. Kuro uses his information gathered to try and make conversation with people. Kuro desires interaction with others and is always dying to make new friends. This is probably one of the few things he will take initiative in. He is quite lazy, and if he doesn’t feel the need to do something, he simply won’t do it. Kuro is also a bit stubborn, and usually will not listen to another’s insight if he already has his mind set. When angered, Kuro tends to be reckless. Other than that, Kuro is fairly laidback and tries to keep things casual and light.
Time Period: Present
Weapon:
A sword with a chain falling from the hilt.
Magic: N/A
History: Kuro was born into the perfect world, being the younger brother to an older brother named Sai. They grew up being more friendly than most siblings and always stood up for each other. When time came for school,. Kuro took great care of his school responsibilities and was fairly athletic, although he preferred to stay inside. Kuro did find a reason to get active, and it was swordplay. At the age of 7, he used his studies and began to practice fighting with a sword. Kuro’s brother was actually learning how to cast magic, so they never competed on who was the better swordsman.
Kuro wasn't actually good with the sword earlier on, but he was always thinking about dueling as he grew up. When the monster portal appeared, Kuro was a bit confused. Nonetheless, he used his learned skills to fight against the invasion of the fiends. After he listened to the hero from the sky, he felt compelled to join his cause.
