Long after mankind had begun to dream of life beyond the stars, that life finally came to us. In the worst case scenario, humanity's first alien contact began with a war, a war that quickly turned into a slaughter. Human technology was no match for the greater weapons of a 'people' who traveled the stars. But they were only the first contact. The second contact brought about a second 'faction' of aliens, hunting the first. These new beings arrived on Earth, and acted as a shield for humanity, stopping the others in their tracks and halting the extermination of humanity. Eventually, both races of aliens left our world, and humanity was forced to start again from the ashes.
Earth's attackers were forever named, the Phantoms. Earth's defenders were forever named, the Paragons.
Humanity rose up, now knowing just how weak they truly were, and how defenseless they were against outside threats. For a time, all of humanity was united in a single goal. Arming their world against the looming threat of alien lifeforms who sought to destroy them. Great, powerful weapons were created, stronger than anything previously seen on Earth. However, many different beliefs were spread throughout humanity. Even on the edge of destruction, humanity is still capable of destroying itself.
Humanity split into five factions, taking control of different pieces of land across the only inhabitable continent remaining on Earth. Now they fight over their beliefs, and of course... resources.

MECH BASED RP
This idea is based on a non Nation RP I saw a long time ago. The basic idea is there are 5 factions fighting over what little land remains on Earth. The five factions have their own 'style' that is set in stone, but you as the people who play them will be free to mold them how you see fit within that 'style'. These are the styles:
Norhtern Faction (My Faction)- Extremely Religious, uses the technology of the paragons, follows a religion claiming the paragons to be gods, is generally neutral to everyone, their mechs are typically humanoid and have an 'angelic' nature to them such as having wings.
Western Faction - UEF, very modern, typically use humanoid mechs with rifles. 'Soldier' mechs. Also the only faction that still uses tanks? Just an idea. Will probably fight anyone for resources.
Central Faction - Pretty open. Imagine a people who live in the desert and control most of the natural resources, but don't actually use them. They are constantly at the center of conflicts and use Zoid like mechs. They don't really like the Eastern Faction.
Eastern Faction - Extremely Religious, Imagine the Vatican, Mechs are typically humanoid and wield weapons such as swords and shields. They hate the Northern Faction for believing the Paragons are gods, and they consider the Central Faction Godless Heathens... but don't necessarily hate them.
Southern Faction - Very Primal, lead by warchiefs, very brutal in their beliefs of war, they use the technology of the Phantoms, their mechs are of a wide variety, but typically are very powerful. They hate everyone and everyone hates them.
These are mostly just ideas. If you want to play a religious eastern faction that uses beast mechs I don't care.
Something to note, this RP will be more about building up the current world and everything that is in it, as well as specific character development for our factions. So while we will have the interactions of our entire nations, we will also have regular RP interactions between specific characters such as our leaders, or even soldiers on the front lines. Everyone is free to have that one 'hero' on the front lines who is always doing noteworthy things.
