The year is 2040, 2 years after a meteor hitting the earth. A catastrophe that nearly wiped out 86% of the human population, leaving the measly 14% of humans that are left struggling to find not only food, fresh water, and shelter, but also socialization. Buildings were almost completely obliterated and trees were blown and burned to a charred fragment of what they once were. Waterways were contaminated with debree (sp?) and very little were clean enough to drink. Even in a disastrous time as this, things started to perk up a bit. Within a year, trees and grass started growing again. This little thing led to hope for the remaining humans, letting them have hope that if even these non-moving, non-thinking things could grow and survive so could they. The most abundant of the new life growing was in the middle of what used to be the Appellation mountains. However, they are no longer mountains anymore, for the sea level rose 50ft and flood most of the lower levels of the world. In this new region of the world, there was an old, battered city called Carasova.
It was mid-afternoon in Carasova. The sun high and bright, the weather was nice today at a temperature of 75 degrees, and the wind was blowing decently. Emilia was with in the forest trying to follow rabbit tracks that were left behind in the mud from last nights rain. As she followed the trail, as clumsy as she is, she fell down, tearing her long sleeved black shirt more than it already was. getting mud on her all over her hijab, pants, and skin. Emilia groaned as she felt stupid for tripping, but immediately got back up at the thought of fresh-cooked rabbit in her mouth tonight. As she continued following the trail for another 10 minutes, she noticed that the trail came up to a hole in the ground. "Jackpot." she whispered to herself. Emilia looked around and picked up a decent sized stick that was long enough to try to probe the rabbits out. Emilia squatted down and began jabbing and twirling the stick in the rabbit-hole. It didn't take but a couple minutes for an adult rabbit to scurry out of its hideout. As it did Emilia, amazingly, caught it, and quickly punctured its heart with an old knife her father had given to her brother. "Alhumdililah" she said in arabic, thanking Allah for this chance to find a rabbit.
