Lewis let out a long sigh as he took a step into the door, phasing through it, and appearing on the other side, deciding to give the poor girl some sleep. He'd just have to bother her in the morning til she shaped up to the situation. It didn't take too much exploring before Lewis found the living room. The family was definitely well-off, far better than Lewis' situation growing up. For a moment, Lewis' mind wander into thinking of his mother, and what she could be doing. Not that it mattered, as she wouldn't be able to see him at all. Sitting down on the couch, Lewis picked up the remote for the living room TV, fiddling back and forth with it. For a moment, Lewis thought about turning the TV on, just to annoy Lily, but opted against it. Instead, Lewis leaned back on the couch. Despite being dead, for the most part, Lewis felt exhausted, almost as if he was going to fall asleep, but sleep wouldn't take Lewis. Instead, the ghost of the young man simply rested his head back on his hand, staring around the room, desperately hoping to catch glimpse of something that he could play with, but to no avail. A dog toy here or there, a couple of magazines, and a cook book resting on the kitchen bar. Lewis had seen homes like these before, the stereotypical upper-middle class family home, complete with absolute boredom and lacking variety.

Lily watched as Lewis went through the door. It was still kind of creepy. She turned off her lamp and tossed around on the bed to get comfortable. After checking the room several times for signs of Lewis, she was able to fall asleep.

Lily woke with a start, feeling as though she had been having a bad dream. She checked the clock. 10 am. She had slept in. It was very unlike her but she needed it. She flipped back the blanket and hopped out of bed, waking King in the process. Finding her running clothes she began to change, hoping it wasn't too hot out all ready.

The TV in the living room was flicked to some trash reality show, as Lewis sat idly, sans shirts and with a bag of chips sat neatly in the small circle he made with his legs as he sat Indian-style. The pillows of the couch had all been moved to one side and it was obvious that the man had made it his own little relaxation couch. Lewis could hear the tell tale signs of an awakening person upstairs, over the din of the TV. Lewis smiled, slightly, wondering if Lily would think everything from last night was just a bad dream, and how surprised she'd be when she saw him in his current state.

As Lily pulled her long hair into a swaying ponytail she headed downstairs with King hopping happily behind her. She was making a mental list of the stuff she wanted to do today. #1 on her list, after her daily run of course, was a nice cup of coffee. As she rounded the corner into her living room and stopped dead in her tracks, King narrowly avoided running into her."you've got to be kidding me!?" everything came rushing back about the night before and she realized it wasn't a dream.
Lewis sat on her floor, shirtless, with a bag of chips. She was so shocked that the only thing she could say was "are you actually eating those?"

"Nope." Lewis replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Eyes glued to the TV, Lewis pulled another chip from the bag and ate it with a robotic like monotony. "Wanna join me? This show it starting to get good." Lewis wondered how much patience Lily would have in the morning, compared to how much she had last night. Glancing with a lazy gaze, Lewis turned his attention to the young woman, "Are you going out or something?" Lewis asked, genuinely curious, as he'd no doubt attempt to follow her.

"No I do not want to join you. Lily stormed through the living room and into the kitchen to start her coffee, so it would be ready when she got back. Once it was brewing she went back to the living room to get to the bottom of this. "So how does this work exactly? You're a ghost but you can eat? You can take your clothes off, watch TV? Just like a normal person? What else can you do" She plopped herself down on the couch and reached for Lewis's shirt to throw at him without even thinking about it. When her hand made contact and she was actually able to pick up the shirt, she just held it staring at it. "wait, what? I thought ghosts were..not physically there?" she said not being able think of a better description. "and by the way. yes, I am going out. Eventually." she added as she threw the shirt at him.

"You ask a lot of questions, Daisy. It's not very charismatic of you. Make you seem like a ditz." Lewis did his best to conceal a smirk, but to no avail. Lewis caught his undershirt, lazily putting it on, "Well, since you won't join me, I guess I'll join you. Where are we going?" Lewis asked, completely ignoring all of Lily's questions. In truth, not even Lewis knew why things the way they were, but it was going to get Lily to eventually lighten up, and teasing would be the way he did it. Standing up, Lewis grabbed the bag of chips, placing them on a stand next to a lamp, near the couch.

"My name is not Daisy. It's Lily" she sighed as she went to get her running shoes by the front door. Returning to the couch she said in a resigned way "I'm going running. Can you even run?" she sat back on the couch and waited. She got a good sense of how stubborn this guy was and didn't even bother to fight it. She knew he was going to go with her. She could smell her coffee now and wanted nothing more than to talk to Claire about this whole mess over a cup. ~why couldn't it have been you instead of him~ she thought.

"I couldn't even run when I was alive. Why would I run now?" Lewis responded, getting up and stretching while doing so. For someone that was dead, Lewis sure felt a very alive sense of being tired, or perhaps it was just because he was lazy, even in death, "Why go running when we can just order pizza and watch movies?" Lewis asked, knowing full and well that a sharp retort was ready from Lily, "Or better yet, we can actually sit down and talk without you getting all huffy and puffy." Lewis added in.

Lily stared at Lewis like he was stupid. "I run everyday. Im not going to let you change that." Lily crossed her arms as she continued to sit on the couch. "And there's no way I could even attempt to have a conversation with you that wasn't full of sarcasm without a cup of coffee first" Lily thought for a minute ~it is almost lunch time. Hottest part of the day. I can run this evening...wow this guy is good~ She stood and headed for the kitchen, a sigh heavily indicated her annoyance "you win ghost boy. I'll have pizza and talk. But only because I am curious as to why you're haunting me. However..." she paused to turn and look at him, full coffee cup in one hand, finger of the other pointed directly at Lewis. She squinted her eyes for emphasis "do not say something that will make me regret this decision until after I have finished this cup of coffee" her finger moved from him to the cup. She then preceded to put sugar and cream in her coffee and head back towards the living room.

"My name's Lewis, not ghost boy, Daisy." Lewis retorted, allowing himself a small smile, glad to see that Lily could poke fun right back at him. Lewis took a sit in one of the comfortable chairs that sat in the living room. Lifting his legs up, and drawing them towards his chest, Lewis almost gave the impression that he didn't know how to sit in the chair. Wrapping both his arms around his legs that were now comfortably drawn against his chest, Lewis gave Lily a thoughtful glance, "You know, you're probably gonna have to order the pizza. I don't think they'll actually be able to hear me." Lewis smiled, as he rocked himself slightly back and forth on the cushioned chair.

Rolling her eyes at his Daisy comment she said "I'll order the pizza after I've had some coffee." Lily took a seat on the couch, careful not to spill her coffee. She took a sip while watching Lewis rock. "What are you even doing?" She put her coffee down to take her shoes off and threw then towards the front door. As she tucked her feet under her King came bounding in from outside. He started to jump up in his favorite chair, where Lewis sat but hesitated. He decided to lie next to Lily on the couch. "I thought dogs could sense ghosts. But it's almost like he doesn't know you're here."

"It's how I sit. Don't judge. You do weird things, too. Especially when you sleep." Lewis said, letting out a small laugh. In truth, he had no idea what Lily did in her sleep, but he knew the comment would drive her crazy. Glancing down at King, Lewis almost felt the urge to reach out and touch the dog, just to see if he'd be able to interact with another physical being that wasn't Lily, "Well, I guess it must just be a myth." Lewis continued to rock back and forth in his seat, wondering how to approach Lily. Eyeing her coffee cup, watching as she sipped, Lewis sighed, "So, let's talk more about why you're stuck with me."

"So long as it doesn't make me want to kick you." She took another drink of her coffee. Watching Lewis, waiting for him to start talking. "So explain. Why are you here" She absently petted King as she drank her coffee. "Oh and we'll come back to your creeper tendencies. And would you knock that off. just sit normally. She grinned at him.

"I'm here, because...." Lewis trailed off, gazing away from Lily, and towards the front door. Letting out a sigh, Lewis glanced back to Lily, "[b]I'm here, because I screwed up while I was living. To redeem myself, I have to help you until my job is considered done." Lewis continued to rock back and forth in his awkward sitting position, his piercing eyes seeming to search the entirety of Lily's face, as if she possessed the answers to how he should precede next, "Which means, you're happy, secure in your life, and independent."

"Okay, so I already got that I'm your ticket out of this place, but why me?" Lily could see Lewis was acting strange but she couldn't figure out why. "and I'm already secure and independent. In case you didn't notice." She didn't intentionally leave out happy, it just slipped from the depths of her subconscious. She stared at Lewis expectantly, waiting for an explanation.

Lewis sighed, drawing his legs closer to his chest. Stopping his rocking, Lewis stared down at the floor, allowing silence to fill the air. After a moments deliberation, Lewis began to speak, "I did something terrible to your family. The way I redeem myself is to pay for it by helping the ones I hurt." Lewis's tone was very somber, and the man found himself unable to make eye contact with Lily, hoping that what he said would be more than enough for the girl to connect the dots. Lewis didn't know if he'd be able to directly admit what he did.

Lily's heart stopped. There's only one terrible thing that had happened to her family. "you did something terrible...to my family." She said it slowly and quietly. It wasn't a question. She knew. Just like that her heartbreak turned to rage "you think you can help!? You think you can make this better!?" Lily yelled at him. She threw her coffee cup directly at his face. King began to bark. "Get out!" She screamed as she ran passed him and up the stairs. Lily slammed her bedroom door and threw herself on her bed. She could hear King whining so she got up to let him in and then slammed the door again. The monster, that had ruined her life, was sitting in her living room. She was furious and devastated all over again. Tears began to leak from the corners of her eyes. She hadn't let herself cry in a long time and it was hard to control it now. The only consolation to her heartbreak was that he had died too, that night.

Lewis wasn't expecting the coffee cup to be able to hit him, but amazingly it did, most likely since it was thrown by Lily. The coffee slammed Lewis in the face, and drenched him in the remaining liquid. It didn't burn him, but it did hurt, "Lily! Come on." Lewis desperately called out to her, as the girl darted upstairs, escaping the man whom had caused her so much pain. Sighing, Lewis stood up from the chair, wondering how exactly he should try and approach this situation next. He had royally fucked up this time, but then again, there was no right way to tell someone you were the person who killed their family member. Trudging up the stairs, Lewis eventually made it to outside Lily's bedroom. As he was about to knock, Lewis stopped himself. He could hear the sounds of a weeping girl coming from within the bedroom. Frowning slightly, Lewis put his back against the bedroom door, and sat down, searching his mind for some idea on how to approach this next. After a few moments, Lewis reached up with a hand and knocked the door he was sitting against, "Lily?" He called out, softly.

Lily cuddled against King as she cried for the sister Lewis had taken from her. She missed Claire terribly and would give anything to have her best friend back. She heard him knock and heard her name being called. She rolled over to look at the door as tears kept leaking, blurring her vision. "how could you?" she said quietly, almost a whisper. She didn't think he would even hear it but she didn't care. Lily just wanted him to go away. So she said nothing else as she resumed her cuddle with the only thing she had left that made her feel any better.
