Greetings everyone, I'm Ike and I'm new here but not to RPing.

Currently, I'm looking for someone, or a small group of people who might be interested in doing a virtual reality RP with me. This idea could be somewhat related to Sword Art or Log Horizon but I promise I have my entirely own ideas and the world itself is completely different. Now a few things I guess I should include to explain further, there will be a set class system that we will make together along with various rules/options we might be presented with. I want loot, PVP and everlasting death to be major factors in this roleplay so someone could classify it as something in the 'Horror' genre. If anyone is interested in hearing more, post a reply if you'd wanna start a group or PM me if you think you'd rather do a 1x1.

The only part of the plot I'd want to share for now is that this would be centered on a small guild that just recently formed and their rise to becoming something.

I hope I hear from some pretty interesting people! And I hope this wasn't too dull because I kinda feel like all interest checks are..

It's so tempting~

But I have one point of order. I tried doing something like this once. How far are you thinking of going with a class system? Are we just stating we have X number of classes, each one is different and leave the rest largely up to "make it us as we go". Or are we going class B does this, this, and this and has these skills and level like this? Because in my experience the latter didn't work out so well.

And I vote group. :)

Well I see a lot of VRMMOs in a forum Roleplay kinda get dull cause people don't have the ability to create what they want. For this, I was thinking we drop the levels so there's no "hes stronger than me" situation and only get classes which would focus more on just what your role is (IE support/healing, magic/dps, physical/dps and tanking i guess) and then you as the players would create your own skills since the system would boast a "infinite skill tree" system they newly invented to make players like crap their pants in excitement at the thought of an infinite number of skills. People might think that can get OP but you have to think we can face enemies that can use just as many skills, so at the drop of a hat we could face someone who just shatters our tactics and forces us to go about fighting a different way. But then I also want an infinite number of subclasses that are less about combat stuff like crafting, blacksmithing, cooking, housekeeping, survival. So you would pick a role like tanking and then have 2-3 subclasses or jobs that you could use to raise money/get yourself equipment and expand the basic things you can do. So basically the only thing you'd have to pick is your role and the rest; skills, jobs, specialties, your characters entire basic in game appearance and life style would be yours to make. How would that sound?

Yes I literally was about to send you a message telling you it looks like its probably gonna be a group but then my friend rushed me into a game on League!

So this looks like we have a small group, pretty nice. I guess we should go ahead and start discussing the actual classes? I was thinking split it up into like basic styles like.

I wanna hear your ideas of classs, I don't wanna stick to the typical knight, rogue, mage, cleric group and I want classes to feel like they have a specific style of play? I'll be honest I don't like almost any of the names I picked for these classes so I really wanna hear your guys input. Maybe depending on your play style the class name could change? For example a rogue who focuses more on getting loot, trap setting/locating and those means could be known as a thief while more damage-oriented characters would be named assassins/shinobis? That way we wouldn't constantly run into the same enemies, there would be knights, samurais, ninja, tons of mages, idk!

So, for example if I wanted a ranger to be burst oriented, relying on speed and accuracy, it would make my character more like a gun slinger. Or if I focused on powerful long distance attacks he or she would become more of a marksman.[So would it work kind of like this?]

Yes exactly something like that.

I guess it could be considered like their Title or Specialty instead of just the class which would be like a base or something?

Yeah, the base being the generalized classes such as rogue and paladin being specialized by play method and preference. (Maybe ranks or titiles could be aquired[through no easy means] *Just a possibility* to improve certain stats or allow one to pull skills from another class that they wouldn't usually be able to (kind of like Materia in FF7, with only a limited number of active titles at any one time.))

Will multiclassing be possible?

What do you mean titles like special in-game titles that only a single player can hold/group of players? And I dunno, I don't see many of the classes meshing well but if you wanted to mix like Magic/Bows I wouldn't mind adding it into the fray somehow.

As for the actual world, does anyone have in an idea in mind? Me and someone else thought up a VMMO a while back which is kind of where I've been imagining all this where the world was inhabited by floating islands which stayed above the clouds and the surface of the actual planet itself was one huge labyrinth maze that went all directions deep into the core where lava was to parts of the maze surface dominated by thick jungles and icy plains. The size would be so unfathomable we could have any kind of dungeon/area we might find. Hidden rooms would be an obvious things as well and since its so big there's no reason to map it out, simply explore to find the bosses, which give you special items allowing you to progress further into parts of the maze (players would find areas where large gates with keys would sit until the player who beat the boss uses a key to unlock it, the bosses respawn so no one can hold the game up but it left the ability for some people to attempt hoarding power over the game itself.) We could have airships and mounts to travel, the floating islands would be pretty big, large enough that they might even have low level dungeons outside the towns.

Kind of. A title could only be earned by doing some very specific things and depending on the desired title the effects could be group-based or just for that individual.

The world scheme sounds cool. Maybe there could be some hidden outposts with rare shops for those willing to seek them out.

I like your idea Ike, floating islands sound fun. I believe there should be mainly small scattered islands with others of varying sizes, the larger they get the rarer they are. As for classes, I believe we should have less than you said, only Shieldmaster, Paladin, Rogue, Lancer, Ranger, Red Mage, Blue Mage, Priest, & Warlock. However all of these have a seemingly unlimited growth path for play styles. It should be so players of the VMMO do not choose any except their first class, then an AI observes their play style and automatically make changes to the character.

We could have a set like 4-5 Kingdoms of the Skies where they own massive landscapes and maybe a few surrounding isles where the focus of NPCs would be while there could be random floating ones that hold various mysterious, dungeons, possibly epic loot, filled with savages, etc.

And I see your reasoning, if they are gonna be unlimited in play style why make so many specialized classes, just let the characters evolve their own skills? I like the idea of the AI, maybe the AI could be the overall enemy to us all. Programmed to attempt to destroy the players, not knowing their real life hangs in the balance? I hope the others don't come back and get blown away by walls of text discussion :P

Just curious, do you guys have characters in mind already? Like what roles would you guys be interested in? Just to gauge if we have like 4 people looking at Mages or everyone wants to be an Archer. If there's only 5 of us maybe one or two could double and play two characters?

I'm used to playing multiple characters, and I haven't started planning a character yet. Yes, i believe it would be interesting with 4 or 5 kingdoms, possibly a NPC war going on, it is possible to join a kingdom as an individual or as a guild. Also, if the NPCs didn't think they were in a game and that they were real people it'd be interesting.

These are all possible plot ideas we could explore. Maybe some guilds could rule so much economy they can elect their Guild leader to be a king or at least a Duke of the court where the King acknowledges their wishes and such allowing them to partake in fighting. Which would mean the largest guilds of such power would probably not be above warfare with other towns/guilds.

Edit: Actually maybe the idea of each town has an alliance or two that run it mostly which would be made of up guilds, which are made up of parties and individual players. So in theory we could be sent to battle by our alliance with a whole load of NPCs by our sides and such. Jeez I don't even know so many possibilities we're starting to get real deep. And like I said, I want the in game world to have real death so for NPCs to act serious would be no problem for me!

The world concept can be anything, so I won't comment too much on that.

For class system, I like the idea of having a few "base" class, and then specializing began depending on player's play style. The AI idea seems fun.

Or you can give a generic character at first, then let the players assign abilities and status. The limit might be tech tree which requires mastery in previous ability to unlock stronger ones, or limited points to assign on ability levels. Thus we can see specialized player in one particular field, or able-to-do-all character which can do anything but weak because all of the skills are low-leveled.

Also...I am thinking to role a healer class or something...maybe...*slither back to hiding place*
